Dem Aide Pleads Guilty To Bribing Ex-Boss, A Democratic Representative

Can bribery be evidence of a "culture of corruption" if Republicans aren't involved?:

The man Pfeffer bribed is referred to only as "Representative A" in court papers. But law enforcement sources and documents make clear the politician is the defendant's former employer, Jefferson, who has not been charged in the case.

Pfeffer recounted in court how his former Capitol Hill boss, in exchange for using his congressional influence in Africa, demanded a 5 to 7 percent stake in one of two new companies Pfeffer's firm was investing in. The companies were to provide high-speed Internet and cable TV service in Ghana and Nigeria.

Pfeffer said the congressman also demanded that two relatives be put on the businesses' payrolls.

Pfeffer told his boss at the investment firm, a 41-year-old woman referred to as "CW" in court papers, that such was the cost of doing business with the congressman, a court document said.

That's from this past Thursday. It was published on page 5.

"a 41-year-old woman referred to as "CW" "
I had pictured you as a guy, for no particular reason.

Hmmm. Wasn't this the same Democratic congressman who, during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, comandeered a military truck and pulled a squad of National Guardsmen off evacuation duty so they could retrieve financial documents, valuables and other items from his New Orleans residence? I seem to recall contemporary media and blog accounts of Jefferson's actions at the time mentioning the corruption scandal he was caught up in...

In light of this indictment, one has to wonder whether some of those records Jefferson retrieved would be of interest to prosecutors in this particular corruption case...and whether or not some of that (hypothetical) evidence against Jefferson just "happened" to be destroyed in the flood.

William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisiana...

What a great show that was.

Along the lines of my post, you think this would be buried had he been a Republican?

"Uber-Lobbyist Pleads Guilty To Bribing Pretty Much Every Top Level Republican" - tubby's little sister

Umm, No.

What I've read is that the uber-lobbyist is cooperating into an investigation of 5 Congressmen, including 2 Democrats, one of whom is Minority Leader Harry Reid.

Tomorrow is March 25th, "Tolkien Reading Day," because March 25th is the day when the Ring is destroyed in the book. I think I'm going to start the Hobbit tomorrow and read all four books this time.
The only bad part of the trilogy are the Frodo/Sam chapters in The Two Towers. They're repetitive, slow, and mostly about the weather and terrain. But most everything else is good. Weirdly, the Frodo-Sam chapters in Return of the King are exciting and action-packed and among the best in the trilogy. (Though the chapters with everyone else in Return of the King get pretty slow again. Mostly people talking about marching towards war, and then marching towards war.)

[A]n asshole is somebody who looks at a painting of two toddlers doing something totally normal for toddlers and decides that it represents homosexuality and then thinks that publicly saying that is somehow edgy and clever. Instead it is doing what we accuse the Left of, that is sexualizing young children. If that describes you, own it.

Reports: The A-10 Thunderbolt, better known as The Warthog, has been unleashed on Iran
It's a heavily armored (the pilot sits in a titanim bathtub) slow-and-low loitering plane with a massive minigun firing depleted uranium rounds. The capability it brings is the ability to just fly big circles over the country waiting for a target to present itself. This is a weapons platform for eliminating vehicles and personnel. Its first task might be strafing the seas, clearing out any remaining attack boats and minelayers.
Update: My ballpark estimate for a reasonable cost for a wildlife overpass (suitably padded to sate the thirst of Democrat grifters) was $15 million. Turns out, that was a good estimate. That's how much it cost Denver to build one.
