How Soxblog Hoaxed Me About a Non-Hoax

Soxblog recounts how he tipped me that the FDU fired-Nazi story was almost certainly (in his estimation) an April Fool's Day joke, and how he got excited that this could be his mini-Rathergate.

I remember asking him, "Yes, but how do we know it's a hoax?" And then we both began actually -- get this -- fact checking and shit.

My only gloss on this is that I really do understand how investigative reporters get swept up in a story, and want a story to be true. This was such a minor little thing -- at most, we'd be able to say "Ha-ha, Kos and Atrios are idiots," which isn't exactly bringing down Eason Jordan -- and yet we both wanted this to pan out. We both wanted this tiny insignificant scoop.

Fortunately, we actually did have a bit more sketpicism than, say, Mary Mapes, and refrained from going with an unconformed story -- an uncomfirmed suspicion, really -- until we'd gotten the sad news that we had no scoop at all.

So was that a real story or what?

You know, I thought maybe Friday was Retard Day.

But I guess every day is Retard Day at ace of spades,
as someone suggested, in a rare moment of lucidity.

Ace,

Confusing this.

Similar to SandyMcBurglerPantsGate, what does someone have to do to actually get fired from a university?

So, it's OK to espouse armed violence in support of those who perceive themselves to be aggrieved for whatever reason, and it's OK to have on faculty someone who is a member of the Nazi party, a real Nazi mind you, not a Chimpy BloodforHaliburtonSharonEatsPaliChildrenMcNazi, but you know, a good'ol Aryan, death to homosexuals-Catholics-Roma-Jews-and-Blacks Nazi, while teaching at a US university, but a professor can't be absent six-times for lectures, that's not OK?

Hmmm.

Is having a Nazi professor a new way for universities to promote diversity?

While I thought the point of Ethnic and Gender studies was to bring about ideologic conformity, maybe they need more Nazis in our institutions of higher learning?

Shows you what I know.

That, and being wrong about Pat O'Brien (yeah Ace, although he did get to "go crazy" with those women, he did so at a terrible cost), I am losing confidence in myself and the world around me.

Sigh.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

And still, no mention here about Jane Fonda soliciting women for threesomes.

I need to get on a new integrity kick.

But I guess every day is Retard Day at ace of spades...

Hmm...not sure what to make of that coming right after my comment.

It's real, John. I wasn't entirely certain either, but Soxblog lays it out a little more clearly.

Speaking of Nazi's (go, go gadget Godwin!), the moonbat Left seems to be doing a little speech chilling of its own. San Francisco wants to tax and regulate blogs.

I hear what you're saying, I'm just trying to figure out if this was a real story

Posted by: John from WuzzaDem on April 3, 2005 09:41 PM

I understand your confusion. Perhaps part of the problem is that you're reading this site while working with your glue-and-glitter "Development Tools" and you accidentally pasted your head to the computer screen?

Once you succeed in wresting your stupid retardhead away from the screen, try sounding out the words.

Better yet, call in your adult-learning supervisor and have her sound out the words for you. And then have her explain those words to you.

And then see if she won't give you some rice pudding.

Retards *love* rice pudding.

Hey, for your information, I'm not allowed to play with glue, so your talking out of your ass.

And my adult-learning supervisor has become very impatient with me lately for some reason. Plus, I suspect she's not really a "she", but then again a girl I dated many years ago had a really big adams apple too, so I guess I could be wrong.

You had a 50-50 shot on the rice pudding, I say you got lucky.
