DOJ investigating Dem Sen. Ruben Gallego after records revealed he blew campaign cash on Super Bowl tickets, Disney trips

The Justice Department has launched an investigation into Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) related to luxury outings and family trips paid for with campaign donations, The Post confirmed.

The DOJ probe into possible campaign finance violations by the potential 2028 Democratic presidential, first reported by Axios, stems from a whistleblower complaint out of Southern California.

News of the investigation surfaced just hours after the Senate Ethics Committee rejected a complaint filed against the Arizona Democrat accusing him of campaign finance violations and sexual misconduct.

Last week, Politico reported that Gallego tapped into a joint campaign account with his ex-buddy, disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), to attend Super Bowl LVII in Arizona with his wife in 2023.

The "Swallego Victory Fund," which both Gallego and Swalwell set up in October 2022, held a fundraiser at the big game and spent over $37,000 between tickets and meals.

Federal Election Commission records also show Gallego has spent $18,000 from his political action committee and campaign coffers on child care since 2019, including a $400 payment to his mother-in-law for babysitting.

Gallego also took his family on trips to Disney World and Disneyland, where he participated in PAC retreats. Records show the Disneyland excursion cost close to $1,500 for accommodations, not including flights.

Mark Halperin suggested that when Gallego wanted to take the family to Disney World, he would direct a campaign staffer to organize a bullshit ten minute "rally" in Orlando. Then he'd say "the law allows me to bring my family on political trips."

Gallego just happened to arrange a lot of "political meetings" at major tourist locations.

The investigation focuses on Gallego's usage of campaign funds since 2019 for family trips, according to a source familiar with the probe. Federal Election Commission records show that Gallego has billed his campaign accounts for trips to Puerto Rico, Nantucket, Miami and other places.

Federal records also show that in 2023, a political action committee set up by Gallego and former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California spent over $37,000 on tickets and meals for the Super Bowl. According to records, the committee has since been terminated.

Swalwell resigned from Congress in April and ended his bid for California governor after several women accused him of sexual misconduct. Swalwell has denied the allegations.

Halperin also suggested -- possibly in jest, but I think maybe "kidding on the square," that is, saying it in jest but kind of meaning it -- that the "southern California whistleblower" might be none other than Eric Swalwell himself, who would know about how the pair misused their PAC money as they formed the PAC together. The motive, Halperin said, would be vengeance, for Eric Swalwell's old Adultery Trip partner turning on him when Swalwell had his fall.

Just as his party is overrun by Communist revolutionaries, former President Barack Obama has decided to take center stage in a frenetic public relations campaign, ostensibly to promote his so-called library.

He's here, there and everywhere, silkily opining about everything under the sun, except the only thing that matters: the disintegration of his party. Like Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned, Obama is curiously detached from the disaster he helped create.

Democrats desperately need a leader to rally around, but all they have is Obama.

He is the only former Democratic president who is still sharp, charismatic and dynamic enough to take up the mantle.

Former President Bill Clinton, while reasonably well-liked and not crazy, despite his wife, has significant health problems and is in no shape to do more than make the occasional token appearance and help raise money.

Clearly, Joe Biden, the only other living former Democratic president, can barely function in public, as was evident in his Saturday night performance at a fundraiser for the Maryland Democratic Party.

Quite why he -- or Dr. Jill -- would want to mark the second anniversary of his disastrous final debate humiliation against Donald Trump by fumbling through his first keynote address in a casino at a boxing-themed "Fight Back & Win" gala is a mystery.

Maybe it's because he can't rest unless he is exorcising the Trump monster still living in his head.

"He even hired his old pool guy to fix the Reflecting Pool. Whoa, what a loser," Biden said of his predecessor-turned-successor.

The audience clapped like seals because all the establishment wing of the party has, by way of policies or aspiration, is Trump derangement.

So all eyes turn to Obama, a lithe and relatively youthful 64, whose God-given gifts still shine brightly, as the savior who will lead them out of the wilderness of "Democratic socialism," open borders and rigged elections, and back to the promised land of common-sense policies and voter enthusiasm.

But he has nothing.

He is out and about promoting his $850 million Obama Presidential Center that squats menacingly on the shores of Lake Michigan on 19 acres of public parkland gifted to Obama by the City of Chicago when his former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, was mayor. But what he's really promoting is himself.

The granite-clad building's grim, brutalist design is an unwitting symbol of his benighted presidency, despoiling its beautiful surroundings and offering nothing uplifting or ennobling to the chumps who pay $30 to go inside.

Dubbed "The Obamination," it's been likened to a Klingon prison, a megalith, a toilet and a trash can.

Today you will read many sympathetic media stories about B.P.J., the male athlete who challenged WV's law and lost at SCOTUS.

I'm guessing none will mention that B.P.J. defeated 470+ girls 1,400+ times (including a state title) and sexually harassed our client Adaleia (pictured) in the girls' locker room. Sadly, Adaleia stopped playing the school sports she loved due to B.P.J.'s ongoing presence in girls' sports and spaces.

But we'll probably be lucky if those girls get even a passing mention--let alone a front-page photo.

This has been the pattern on this issue from far too many institutions of power. Boys' feelings are the focus. Girls' safety, fairness, and opportunity take a back seat.


I'm so thankful today that the Supreme Court reversed that pattern, acknowledged the reality of biological sex, and remembered the girls.
