Louis Murder: Hundreds Rally in Narbonne After Brutal Murder of 17-Year-Old Boy

The fatal beating of a French teenager, filmed and shared online by the alleged attackers, has renewed concern over immigrant youth violence.

Around 1,000 people marched through the southern French city of Narbonne on Sunday, June 28th, following the death of 17-year-old Louis, who was lynched by a gang of youths.

The march, organised under the slogan 'Justice for All,' was promoted on social media by several identitarian groups. Louis's family declined to take part, saying they wished to avoid any political exploitation of their son's death.

The demonstration reflects growing public concern over youth violence in France.

Louis was attacked ten days ago after allegedly being lured to a construction site in Narbonne by a group of boys--aged between 16 and 19--he knew through child welfare services. He was discovered unconscious the following day by a worker and died in hospital four days later.

In an emotional interview, his mother called for those responsible to be tried as adults, saying she hoped her son's death would be "the last."

So she's not as chill about it as the Nudge Unit, French Branch would like her to be.

The five "youths," unidentified except by first name, went straight to the old well and claimed they planned this ambush murder because of Muh Fake Racism.

During questioning, some of the suspects claimed the assault was motivated by revenge for alleged incidents dating back several years, including accusations of bullying by Louis, and violence suffered by the sister of one of the suspects. These claims remain unsubstantiated.

Authorities have also confirmed that Louis had previously reported being assaulted on two separate occasions in the weeks before his death.

While many social media users have linked the rise in violence to the growing number of migrants in France, prosecutors have stated that there is no evidence the killing was racially motivated.

The family is also calling for a march for the murdered boy -- and justice for the invaders.

Marteau described the video as extremely distressing and said the family struggled to understand the level of violence shown in the footage.

She added that those responsible appeared to show no remorse during the assault. "They are laughing, they beat him, they leave him no way out," she said, describing the footage as showing the attack being recorded alongside "snickering and selfies."

Louis' mother told Le Journal du Dimanche "This is not the time for mourning; it is the time for war," demanding that the accused be tried as adults. She said France's juvenile justice laws needed to be revised, and recalled that she had repeatedly warned social services that her son was in danger.

They held a march on the 28th and are holding another one Sunday, July 5th.

This murder came a month before an 11-year-old girl was raped and murdered by a known sex criminal whom the police repeatedly failed to open an investigation into the killer, even after he was accused by the mother of a 10-year-old girl of repeatedly raping her.

He had also been accused of raping a 17-year-old girl, but police dropped that investigation too after the girl said she had "consented" to sex with the man.

Thousands of mourners have turned out for a silent march for a 11-year-old schoolgirl whose murder prompted widespread outrage when it emerged police had failed to question the suspected killer about previous child sexual abuse allegations.

The parents of the girl, who has been named only as Lyhanna, led the cortege on Sunday in the south-western village of Fleurance behind a banner reading "Never again". Most of those who marched, including children, wore white shirts or T-shirts, many bearing a smiling portrait of the young victim.

Grief has been mixed with profound shock and anger. The killing has sparked a heated national debate over the delays and failings of France's justice system after it emerged that the man being held in connection with Lyhanna's disappearance and murder had been on the police's radar since 2017.

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, acknowledged there had been an "unacceptable" failure in the legal system.

Lyhanna was last spotted getting into a grey car, identified as belonging to Jérôme Barella, a father of two and school cleaner, in Fleurance in the Gers département on 29 May. Her body was found seven days later in a disused grain silo 15km from where she went missing. Barella has denied killing her, telling police he had dropped her off at the local swimming pool.

After his arrest, it was discovered that, last August, the mother of a 10-year-old girl had gone to the police to allege that he had raped her daughter on several occasions. The preliminary investigation, containing interviews with the victim, psychological and medical reports confirming the child had injuries consistent with sexual abuse, and details of previous accusations against Barella, was sent by police in nearby Toulouse to the prosecutor's office at Auch in January with an instruction to question him.

However, the prosecutor's office reportedly failed to open the file for several weeks, then took a further six weeks to assign officers to the case. Barella had still not been contacted or summoned for questioning in the three months before Lyhanna was abducted and killed.

Other allegations have also emerged. In December 2017, a mother reported that her 17-year-old daughter had been in a relationship with Barella, but the case was dropped in 2018 after the girl said she had consented.

In 2021, the suspect was fired from a cleaning job at another school for alleged inappropriate behaviour with a female student online. It is not know if this was reported to police at the time.

In January 2022, he was accused of raping a seven-year-old child at his home in south-western France. The case was transferred to the local prosecutor but dismissed in 2024 owing to lack of evidence. The public prosecutor in the Gers town of Auch, Clémence Meyer, said inquiries, both medical and psychological, had not allowed police to verify the allegation.

French President Macron has refused to utter the name of Louis, but he is gallavanting around to praise the abolition of the death penalty -- even as many call for its return.
