The Passing of a GreatAs he remarked, let's hope Baroness Thatcher has many good years left in her. The Sort of Goodbye I'm Just Not Capbable Of: ... is provided by All Along the Blogtower: These fears would soon be heightened, as the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The Soviet Empire appeared to be expanding, and no one seemed to be willing to stand up to it's evil march. "Coexistence" was the foreign policy buzzword of the time. The elite's laughed at those naive fools who thought that Democracy and Liberty were a more perfect order of things. They further laughed if you expressed the belief that Liberty and Freedom were not just assumed right's of man, but were instead right's granted by a loving Creator to all mankind. CommentsReagan passed last year. but, yeah, the point that within a year's time two of the pioneers -- Great Communicators -- of reaching out directly to the masses have left us. makes me feel sad, old, and like a tiny speck on history at the same time. within the space of a year........ Posted by: SondraK on April 2, 2005 06:54 PM
SondraK With that terse little comment, for you, knowledge certainly is power. Keep slicin'. Posted by: KCTrio on April 2, 2005 07:30 PM
Son of Nixon's correction was actually right. I originally wrote "this year," though I had intended to write "within the past year." After he pointed out the error, I edited to make it clearer, and also to make him look like a persnickety asshole, because I don't like him. Posted by: ace on April 2, 2005 07:31 PM
OK, Son of Nixon had the knowledge and gave it to you, yet SondraK lived up to the motto of her Web site. And I'm looking at Dusty trying to figure out how she fits into all of this. Posted by: KCTrio on April 2, 2005 07:59 PM
Currently in mourning with a bottle of Bushmill's. Wake me when we get a man like that again. Posted by: pinky on April 3, 2005 09:13 PM
Margaret Thatcher is not long for this world I fear. The death of her husband hit her very hard, and she has been suffering a series of micro-strokes. Posted by: David Gillies on April 4, 2005 12:26 PM
It is not well publisized that the Pope, Reagan and Thatcher met and conspired together on how to bring down the Soviet Union. John Paul took money and printing presses back to Poland with him after he visited Reagan during the strike at the Gadansk shipyard, to support the strikers. He was an integral part of the ultimate defeat of the Soviet Union, so much so the Catholic Church can boast that its spititual leader was shot by the KGB for being so effective against the the Soviet Union.
