Kerry: Impeach Bush If Dems Win House In 2006If Democrats take back the House in 2006, there would be a "solid case" to bring articles of impeachment against Bush for "misleading" the country about prewar intelligence, the National Journal's Hotline quoted Kerry as saying. He says he was only "joking," but I don't see the punchline there. Please explain how a declaration of that -- which pleases the base and doubtless tickles Kerry too -- is a "joke." Thinking about sitting 2006 out? Maybe you should think again. posted by Ace at 07:02 PM

Let's hope his pal Teddy takes him for a ride this summer. You know, at night over a narrow bridge. Awww, cmon! I'm only joking. Posted by: MCPO Airdale on December 16, 2005 07:10 PM
Wow, what a great joke! Jean-Francois should go out on the road with Al Franken and Margaret Cho. Posted by: zetetic on December 16, 2005 07:10 PM
If the Dems keep talking impeachment, I might just have to hold my nose and vote for frickin' Olympia Snowe next year. I hate them for forcing me to do that. Posted by: Slublog on December 16, 2005 07:11 PM
Ace, Kerry *was* at a party when he said this-- perhaps he was just drunk again? Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on December 16, 2005 07:14 PM
Someone like that should start a "Dem Walkbacks" page with all the jokes, misquotes, quotes taken out of context, etc. etc. that seem to plague the party. Posted by: tachyonshuggy on December 16, 2005 07:21 PM
If they do, in fact, take back the House in '06, I pray to God they would try this. Pretty please? If JohnF'n Kerry thinks this is a winning strategy he's a bigger loser than I thought. And I think Kerry is a big fucking loser as it is. Posted by: kelly on December 16, 2005 07:25 PM
Kerry's old news. The NSA thing is the real impeachable offense; Bush actually broke the law and violated the Constitution there. Posted by: Bob Munck on December 16, 2005 07:42 PM
John Kerry should have his statements during his VVAW days reviewed, charged with treason and then executed. I'm just kidding! Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 07:48 PM
Comments like this should suprise no one. Kerry is a flaming idiot and always will be. Posted by: Rplat on December 16, 2005 07:51 PM

The NSA thing is the real impeachable offense; Bush actually broke the law and violated the Constitution there Oh boy. Bob's got the talking points. Hey Bob, ya big lug, want to make a little wager regarding the 'illegality' of what the NSA has been doing? Posted by: BrewFan on December 16, 2005 08:04 PM

Me, as chris farley, interviewing John Kerry on his standup routine. "remember that time you called for the impeachment of the president? That was great" Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 09:01 PM
as an aside. For about a week or so (and some time before, but especially recently) ace has been obsessed with atrios's comments despite no original content. We need more comments people. I'm just trying to do my part. Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 09:11 PM
Interestingly, I just mentioned this in conjunction with some Rasmussen poll numbers about impeachment on my new blog (which isn't really ready to tell people about since it doesn't have a name yet and still looks like ass). But since I already asked for people here to test the comments I might as well... http://blog.dave-smith.net/?p=9 I think that all of this talk about Dems retaking anything is a bit premature, because they simply can't help themselves. It is simply too much fun for them to make these stupid statements when they're in front of a bunch of moonbats. Posted by: Dave S on December 16, 2005 09:12 PM
Bob... Michelle Malkin quoted this post by Mark Levin earlier... http://corner.nationalreview.com/05_12_11_corner-archive.asp#084896 Read it. Posted by: Dave S on December 16, 2005 09:34 PM
Yeah, we are all thinking it but he said it out loud. His "only joking" was just a way to kind of take it back. Let's face it, Dubya is worst President since Nixon. Posted by: JohnQP on December 16, 2005 09:42 PM
Hey Bob, ya big lug, want to make a little wager regarding the 'illegality' of what the NSA has been doing? Of course, a lot of these things just fade into the general background of corruption and incompetence, but I really believe that this one may have staying power. How long was it from the Watergate break-in to Nixon's resignation? About two years? So we're talking December, 2007. Dubya is worst President since Nixon. What a nasty thing to say about President Nixon. Posted by: Bob Munck on December 16, 2005 09:54 PM
JohnQP, the feeble attempts to compare Bush to Nixon grow old and make you look like an idiot. Would you like to try to substantiate that at all, or are you already trolling someplace else? Posted by: Dave S on December 16, 2005 09:59 PM
Awww...moonbats are so fucking cute. Keep dreaming, pal. Ya big lug. Posted by: Lee Atwater on December 16, 2005 09:59 PM
but I really believe that this one may have staying power Is this belief based on anything factual you can share with us or is it a product of your life in the fever swamps of BDS? Did you even read the NYT article? I didn't think so... Posted by: BrewFan on December 16, 2005 09:59 PM
Two years from last year will be December 2006. Posted by: JohnQP on December 16, 2005 10:00 PM
I know what you mean, John. I just find myself wanting the do-nothing "security" policy of the Clinton's, and the thousands dead that came of it. And he just misused the FBI and IRS to hound his personal enemies and cover up his bribe taking from enemies domestic AND foreign, none of this "national security" nonsense W hides behind. Or perhaps the stern and fearsome authority of Carter. A yearlong countdown of American impotence, a tanking economy which we just would have to learn to live with, and none of that "support the troops" nonsense. They were lucky to get a paycheck! Good thing we were limited from Nixon on, I'd hate to see how W's detention policies, racial tolerance, or treatment of critics stack up against Wilson or FDR. Yepsiree, this time Bush is gonna resign for sure! Yup. And then John Kerry can take his rightful place as... What? Cheney? Really? That's cool, there's still Fitzgerald, and... Oh. Hastert? You're kidding, right? Posted by: Rod Munch on December 16, 2005 10:04 PM
And after Hastert, that paragon of pork, Ted Stevens. Not one capable, honest successor for a corrupt and incompetent President in the entire cabinet, either. Good job, guys! I know, we'll blame it on Clinton. Those eight years of peace and prosperity were hell compared to this. Posted by: JohnQP on December 16, 2005 10:10 PM

A quick thing about Nixon? He was LESS dirty than Johnson, Johnson was a dirty bastard, so was kennedy, people don't bother to do honest research on the Kennedy/Daley Connection in Illinois, but anyways, Nixon was destroyed DAILY! for doing what everyone else did, and then, stuff started to leak out of the FBI about HOOVERS dirty dealings concerning MLK, and the sainted adulterer JFK (who really could have been a great pres.) and the sainted adulterer Bobby K. but for some reason HOOVERS abuse of power all landed on Nixon. That is the method of the petty opposition. I won't say "left" or "right", at this time, it is the left doing it, and all through the 20th century it was the left, but when a party replaces opinion, passion and respect for pettiness. They accuse the individual (in the case of Nixon) of doing everything that they have done, or they accuse the whole PARTY (as is happening now) of doing all of the things they themselves are doing. Ace has touched on it. Wilson? A lefty got pissed, Lets have an investigation!!! the Nation gets pissed about all of the things MORE significant than Ms. Wilson (CIA Fleet, Rendition, secret prisons, allied cooperation, specific tactics, specific technological capabilities and actions of surveilance) and nothing happens. The nation is SUFFERING every day, because either the Republicans are unwilling to look "petty" or because they are being DICKS! and sacrificing accountability in the short term, allowing the Dem's dig a HUGE treasonous hole. ARGH! there are so many turns I am just plain fucking furious, Read AJ Strata. He's a zealotte, I'm just a guy interested in politics.

John Q. Do you realize that you asked questions? But. You have no answers? Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 11:40 PM
How many people died in the first WTC and the USS Cole attacks? Ah, so they have to kill thousands of our citizens before we are allowed to respond? You forgot the hundreds who died in the simultaneous African embassy bombing and those killed during the Khobar Tower attacks. But what the hell, we have you claiming that they really didn't count, right? Democrat - the Religion of Appease. How many more people lost their non-tech jobs under Bush? I'm sure you missed it, because the Dems Talking Points wouldn't have included this, but there has been a net GAIN in jobs since even before last November's election. I'm sure you'll deny it, but that just make my enjoyment of your meal of crow that much sweeter. How big is our national debt now? Funny, but even during a war, and after serious tax cuts, Federal revenue is UP, and even the trade deficit is narrowing. Guess that's all Kerry's doing, right? Posted by: Drumwaster on December 16, 2005 11:44 PM
HowardDevore asked about great presidents. In the 20th century, the 3 greatest presidents were Teddy, Ike, and reagan. Kennedy COULD have been but didn't get the chance. Kennedy was the last strong demo presence, everyone since (both) were just schills looking for an office. Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 11:44 PM
and tax revenue isn't just up, it's up by something like 4% That is a HUGE increase. In fact, the first year of tax cuts, after the recession changed the projected income from a a near double digit reduction in growth, to an in fact 1% growth, . . . . . I think. The manipulations of reductions and growths in terms of relative percentiles is confusing, and I think that is best left to the good and solid geeks, I'm only a deferential geek. I can give you the various bonus' from an 18 con, or INT , but don't like the big number comparissons. Posted by: Wickedpinto on December 16, 2005 11:48 PM

"How many people died in the first WTC and the USS Cole attacks?" This is an extremely strange question, the implications of which I do not understand. Less people died in the first WTC and USS Cole attacks than on 9/11, so that proves Clinton did what, exactly, better than W? Posted by: Rip on December 17, 2005 12:45 AM

Kerry '08: Posted by: epobirs on December 17, 2005 03:01 AM
I am always amused when dimocrats claim credit for Clinton. It was not until the Republicans took over the House of Representatives in 1994 that the economy really started taking off. Nafta and Welfare reofrm were Republican initiatives. The only thing Clinton initiated was Hillary's effort to nationalize the health care system and that failed. Clinton was a do nothing President who spent all his time talking and boinking his subordinates. The improving deficits were because the Republicans controlled the House of Representatives.Clinton was one of the most useless Presidents ever. Bush, on the other hand, has kept us from being attacked again for over 4 years. He has been absolutely brilliant economically. He is the only President to avoid a depression after a stock market crash. The Great Depression was caused by a stock market crash and (1) tight money, (2)an international trade war and (3)a 68% tax increase (designed by Hoover to ballance the budget) The great depression lasted from 1930-1942. Because of Bush's timely tax cuts and the rsulting deficits, the U.S. has enjoyed a record number of quarters of 3% GDP growth rather than a depression. Japan has been in a depression since 1988. Their stock market has gone form 38,800 in 1998 to 14,000+ in 2005. The U.S. is in an economic boom right now and the unemployment of 5%. Germany over the Bush years has grown less than 1% per year and has a 12%!!!!!! unemployment rate. France is doing little better, their growth rate is a little over 1% and they have an 11% unemployment rate ( you may have noticed some of the resulting riots based on bad French economics).Bush has averaged about 3% gdp per year. Bush is certainly no conservative, but he is a great President. President Washington, FDR(because of lend lease and his WW11 preparations), Reagan (ending inflation and winning the cold war through an arms race and confrontation) and maybe lincoln(I reserve judgment because after all, the guy did wear a beard) are in Bush's class, but no others. Watch what happens as history is written. He will outclass everyone else. Too bad he's not conservative. The best thing for johnQP is that since he is anonymous, he can later deny knowing anything about that dumbo who trashed Bush and can claim that he was a Bush supporter all the time. Posted by: pendelton on December 17, 2005 05:14 AM
sorry. my bad. the Japanese stock market of 38,800was 1988 not 1998. Posted by: pendelton on December 17, 2005 05:18 AM
By Marion Lloyd, Boston Globe - July 25, *1999* MARDAN, Pakistan - The 6-year-old boy watched intently as his father dusted off his favorite possession, a leather-bound scrapbook of Osama bin Laden, pausing at a photo of the Saudi dissident with a semiautomatic rifle tucked in the folds of his trademark white robe. ''Osama!'' his son squealed excitedly. ''That's me!'' The boy, whose name was changed to Osama last year, is one of hundreds of Pakistani children named for bin Laden since Aug. 20, 1998 - the day the United States launched missile strikes against alleged terrorist camps run by the Saudi millionaire in eastern Afghanistan. The attack sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world. But the response was particularly heated in Pakistan, which sends thousands of Islamic guerrillas to similar training camps in Afghanistan. ''I love his bravery and gallantry,'' the boy's father, Niaz Ali Salar, said of bin Laden. ''He boosted the morale of Muslims throughout the world.'' The local leader of the radical Barelvi sect of Muslims, Salar said he hoped his son would ''live up to his name'' and lead the war against ''the enemies of Islam.'' In Mardan, a crumbling tobacco center 75 miles east of the Afghan border, Islamic priests deliver diatribes against ''evil America'' during Friday afternoon prayers. They urge followers to join the jihad, or Islamic holy war, against Western infidels. The calls have become more heated in recent weeks, with rumors that the United States may be planning new missile strikes against bin Laden to coincide with the anniversary of last year's attack. Those fears were bolstered by a recently revised US travel warning for Afghanistan, which says the US government ''reserves the right to retaliate against the facilities of those who harbor terrorists, as well as the terrorists themselves.'' ... On Thursday, hundreds of militants belonging to the Islamic fundamentalist Jamiat-i-Islami party demonstrated in the southern port city of Karachi, warning Washington not to incur the ''wrath of Islamic forces.'' Hundreds of villagers living outside Jalalabad, the Afghan city near where bin Laden is believed to have set up a new base, fled the area last week fearing a US attack. Meanwhile, reports of terrorist threats against Americans are cropping up in places as far afield as Africa and Washington. ...In Pakistan, few buy Washington's vilification of bin Laden, whom it accuses of masterminding the Aug. 7, 1998, bombings of two US embassies in east Africa and several other terrorist attacks. ''He's a man on the run, whose only friends are the Taliban. How can he be a threat to the world's most powerful nation?'' said Sahib Zada Khalid Jan Binuri, head of Pakistan's most influential Islamic seminary. ''It's all spin control. If America tells me, `You are a terrorist,' what can I say?'' There are other signs, though, that his network is growing stronger... --- www.indianembassy.org/policy/Terrorism/news_us/laden_anti_US_july_25_99.htm Posted by: on December 17, 2005 01:35 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
