Martha's Apprentice Just Isn't Fitting In

Cancelled.

NBC really screwed the pooch with this franchise. By running Martha and Trump simultaneously, they insured viewers 1) couldn't keep track of who the hell was on which show and 2) just became bored with the entire premise.

It made so much more sense to run the Martha show after the Trump show aired, after the finale generated the typical spike in interest, and viewers wanted more. But I guess NBC just doesn't have any shows anymore.

As a business-type guy, I did find Trump's show somewhat interesting, what are the kinds of things he considers when making decisions,

but after a while, I jut couldn't hang with it. With every episode, it took forever to get to the freaking point - and there just wasn't enough drama involved to keep me watching.

I know that's the formula, and apparently it's popular.

Probably why I don't get much out of things like Survivor.

Plus it has the same time slot as Lost, which is a really good show.

Still watch Trump. Gave up on Martha a long time ago.

Martha's was basically "Apprentice, the Gay Blade."

I mean, yeah, I guess it was meant to skew more to women, and there's nothing wrong with making and marketing a salad dressing as a task, but... I think the tasks were a little too Martha-esque.

and there was much rejoicing!

The thing that annoys me about the trump show this year is how it's basically a commerical for some corporation.

"Best Buy and Star Wars are the two best electronics and movie franchises out there."

Earlier seasons were less overtly commercial (selling advertising on pedicaps for ex). This year's tasks are probably more relevant to trumpmania, but I feel like I'm watching an infomercial.

I do however enjoy this year's boardroom massacres.

Kevin, you're right. All the tasks have been marketing, thanks to the need for promotional tie-ins.

Schmoll: 53% of New Jersey likely voters say their neighbors are voting for Ciattarelli, while 47% say the cheater/grifter Mikie Sherrill
The "who do you think your neighbors are voting for" question is designed to avoid the Shy Tory problem, wherein conservative people lie to schmollsters because they don't want to go on record with a likely left-winger telling them who they're really voting for. So instead the question is who do you think your neighbors are voting for, so people can talk about who they themselves support without actually having to admit it to a left-wing rando stranger recording their answers on the phone.

Interesting football history: How the forward pass was created in response to the nineteen -- 19! -- people killed playing football in 1905 alone
The original rules of football did not allow forward passes. The ball was primarily advanced by running, with blockers forming lines with interlocked arms and just smashing into the similarly-interlocked defensive lines. It was basically Greek hoplite spear formations but with a semi-spherical ball. As calls to ban the sport entirely grew, some looked for ways to de-emphasize mass charges as the primary means of advancing the ball, and some specifically championed allowing a passer to throw the ball forward.

Atari to release former competitor Intellivision with 45 games for $149
I always thought Intellivision was kinda lame (to the extent a cutting edge videogame box can be lame).
Intellivision insists upon itself.
Pitfall was a really good game. I don't know if it was available on Intellivision. Update: It was. But I don't know if it's included in the new unit.
