I Hate Posting Rumors From "Sources" of Dubious Credibility, But...

...the subtly-named "Pre$$titutes" blog claims that the chatter in DC is that a dozen indictments are about to be handed down in L'Affaire Plame.

The source of the rumor is a blog that makes Daily Kos ("Screw them!") seem sane and calm. The timing really seems to fit, but well designed false rumors do fit in some respect

Posted by: Village Idiot on October 5, 2005 04:59 PM

Well the good thing about specific and near-term rumors like this is, we'll soon know if it's true. After a few of those, you learn whether to pay the source any mind in the future.

I think that Powerlineblog has the right idea on this whole issue.

Cut and paste that for everyother entry, it seems.

But, the J. Miller contempt jailing seems most likely to be related to her calling an Islamic group for reaction to the fact that they are going to be raided by the FBI in 1 hour.

There are two universes here, the one that sorta-kinda understands that no crime has been committed and that this whole thing is kaka. And there are those who are sure that this is all the result of the neo-crypto-con-ist conspiracy to punish the sole man brave enough to suggest that Bush should not have invaded Iraq.

Could a real lawyer sift through these facts and actually indict someone? doubtful, eh?

Has Bush even heard of the IRS? C'mon, its easy to use on enemies. Instead, we get the Club for Growth being hassled by the FEC.

Even crazy leftist websites are right once in a rare while. Then again I can't think of when that rare while might have been

Posted by: Village Idiot on October 5, 2005 05:10 PM

If you can be the majority leader of the Senate and be subject to prosecutorial abuse, anything goes.

I'm not surprised that the investigation is coming to a head. It had to happen eventually. After all, SOMEBODY was being investigated for SOMETHING, and prosecutors said it wasn't Rove. I would therefore bet money that Wilson, or Plame, or even Miller are sweating more than Rove right now.

We'll see.

By the way, that Pre$$titutes site is very funny. It took me a while to decide that it wasn't satire. Check it out. Please don't be abusive - save the semi-coherent, mouth-foaming attacks for the brainstorms on the left.

One of the regular posters on the referenced site talks about having a wet dream that Bush and Cheney get indicted! Then he goes on to repeat this "fantasy" of his.

We are talking some truly deranged people here, folks.

Posted by: Log Cabin on October 5, 2005 05:26 PM

There's probably a solid perjury case against Wilson if anyone cared enough to bring it (I don't)

Posted by: Tony on October 5, 2005 05:57 PM

Uh, sorry to bring up a little common sense here, but why would Rove waive confidentiality if he knew it would get him indicted?

Later,
bbeck

Posted by: bbeck on October 5, 2005 06:10 PM

Always amusing (for a short snippets at a time) of listening to far-Leftists complain what whores the conservative media like the New York Times and Chris Matthews are for propping up the Bush administration and refusing to cover stories that would land Bush in jail. Stories like how Bush planned 9/11 for pipelines and how Jeff Gannon was kidnapped by a conservative child prostitution ring and brainwashed into being a friendly face in the Press Room.

Thank god for Pre$$itutes and taking the Chimperor's minions to task!

Posted by: Moonbat_One on October 5, 2005 06:28 PM

Wasn't this the fake blog you found some time ago?

Btw, this whole Miers debacle is making me hope Rove does get indicted.

Posted by: someone on October 5, 2005 06:33 PM

Here's the straight dope: It's Ronnie Earle who's going to be indicted when Johnnie Coldcuts admits how much he was paid to testify before the grand jury with a "My Name Is Tom Delay" sign stuck in his bun.

Sorry... wrong thread.

Posted by: The Black Republican on October 5, 2005 06:33 PM

I like the part about the White House must know something bad is coming because Rove hasn't been around lately. I seem to remember reading something that said Rove has been having problems with kidney stones for the last 2 or 3 months. Anyone else catch that?

Posted by: Greg on October 5, 2005 06:36 PM

If there is any truth to the rumor that there will be 22 indictments, it supports my view that the Wilson/Plame game was a conspiracy in which people inside the CIA conspired with Wilson, folks in Plame's office and members of the media to smear the WH.

Had it been Rove and/or Libby, how do you get to that number?

Posted by: clarice on October 5, 2005 07:21 PM

THIS IS PROOF OF THE CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY THAT IS THE BUSHCO PRESIDENCY!!!

UNLESS THE INDICTMENTS DON'T COME DOWN. THAT WOULD BE PROOF THAT SOMEONE WAS PAID OFF!!!

INDICT BUSHOLINI!!!

Posted by: RAGING REALITY-BASED AVENGER on October 5, 2005 07:27 PM

The left is going nuts with this. Kos is playing up informatin that Rove's not attended a couple recent White House events, and that the WH is trying to distance themselves from him because of the coming charges.

Posted by: Dr. Reo Symes on October 5, 2005 08:16 PM

"Dubious credibility"?

The post on that site immediately prior to the one cited here claims the press is a tool of the GOP. How much more dubious can you get?

Sorry... had to get that off my chest....

Posted by: Russ on October 6, 2005 01:46 AM

God bless the loony left. Republicans would be in real trouble, but GOD provided lunatic lefties as opponents so Republicans win even when they do stupid stuff. With thinking like this it's no wonder the left chooses nut cases like Howard Dean to run the DNC. Thanks for a picker upper ACE. This Miers nomination thing was starting to get me down.

Posted by: john on October 6, 2005 02:17 AM

Any more word on this?

Few people remember that Norm MacDonald began his career as a ventriloquist
MacDonald's old partner Adam Egot revealed that MacDonald repurposed a bit with one of his ventriloquist dolls -- that he was a "bad guy" who "didn't believe the Holocaust happened" -- for the Norm MacDonald show, in which he claimed Egot didn't believe in the Holocaust.
Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. -- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source"
Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

🚨ED MILIBAND [a Minister in Starmer's government] SAYS KEIR STARMER WILL RESIGN AS PRIME MINISTER

He has reportedly reassured Labour MP's that Starmer will be resigning following the disastrous results tonight

It's over
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.

Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg
@zatzi
If this continues Labour loses 2,148 seats tonight.

That is much worse than the worst case predictions I’ve seen.

Cataclysmic

Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot
@TheBritLad

🚨 BREAKING: Labour have lost 80% of all seats contested as of 2:25 AM.<
br> If this continues, Keir Starmer will be out of office next week.

Reform has surged and projected to pick up between 1700-2100 seats.

Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing.
Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult.
Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending.

@DPJHodges

Reform are basically wiping Labour out in the North. It's not a defeat. It's not even a rout. Labour are simply ceasing to exist.

Nick Lowles
@lowles_nick

Tonight’s results are calamitous for Labour. Not just for Keir Starmer's leadership, but for the very future of the party
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98.
Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years.
Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour
Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45
Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%.
I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
spidermanthreatormenace.jpg

That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time.
I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
