Terrific: Former "Bush Team Member" Claims WTC Destroyed By "Controlled" (i.e., Government-executed) DemolitionThe Bush team has its own Ramsey Clarke. There's a certain madness to conspiracy-theorizing, of course. And that madness is ego-driven. From time immemorial, self-deluded charlatans have believed themselves possessed of Secret Knoweldge that made them special, made them superior to their fellow men. Conspiracy-theorists seem to be of a similar psychological type, same as serial killers are. They're smart, but not stand-out smart, sort of smarter than average but not smart enough to achieve any sort of undeniable success. And their frustration over that -- the knowledge that while they are smart, others are smarter, and they'll never be big leagues -- compells them to invent fantasy worlds only they understand and thereby prove their superiority over their friends and co-workers and bosses. Old Conspiracy Movie Trivia: What joke did Sam Waterston tell in Capricorn One just before he was caught by government agents? The punchline is enough. You don't have to tell the whole long joke. posted by Ace at 08:28 PM
CommentsUm, it's "Ramsey". Posted by: Michael on June 14, 2005 08:31 PM
Yeah, but the question is still who planted the explosives. My scratch is on the Tri-Lats, or the Greys. Cheers, Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on June 14, 2005 08:32 PM
Wasn't it that old joke about not coming right out with bad news? The guy tells another guy his cat's dead, he tells him to soften the blow, he tells him his mother was playing on the roof, yad yada yada. I've seen it a few times, but it's been a while. Posted by: John from WuzzaDem on June 14, 2005 09:14 PM
Yeah, he says "You're cat's dead," and the friend says that's not how you tell someone their cat has died, you tell him it was playing on the roof, and the firefighters were brought in, and it fell, and the tried to save it, etc. etc etc., but it died anyway. And then he says, "How's my mom?" And the answer is, "She's on the roof." In the movie he adds "Yeah, she's on the roof. Ha ha ha, she's on the roof," as the agents come to kill him. Nice memory. An indepth investigation into the collapse of the WTC from an unbiased source: Indymedia http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2005/06/319151.shtml There was no mention of Karl Rove, which just goes to show how slick he really is. Posted by: Terry on June 14, 2005 09:48 PM

I remembered that joke in large part because I have found that the plot of "Capricorn I", or should I say the non-plot, has an ending where we are left to believe that all the bad guys will be brought to justice. This plotline is classic for it's non-reality. Posted by: Neo on June 14, 2005 10:43 PM
The real question is how an f'ing loon like this guy can become the chief economist for the Dept. of Labor. Yeah, but the question is still who planted the explosives. Hmm, wait a second, never mind the S and C, nothing to see here, move along.

Since we're wasting time talking about this silly person and his silly allegations, I have a silly question or two I'd like to put to him. For starters: Why didn't all the people working around-the-clock in One, Two and Seven World Trade Center notice all the guys carrying tons of C-4, TNT, and Primacord into the buildings and ripping out walls every ten floors or so they could attach explosive charges to the support girders? I mean, a proper demo job would have taken weeks to set up. Don't you think somebody would have noticed? Wouldn't somebody have called the police? For that matter, the building was crawling with cops; one of the Twin Towers was home to the HQ of the NYC Port Authority Police. And, silly question number two: If this was some sort of "controlled" demonstration for maximum impact, then why didn't this vast army of unnamed co-conspirators simply topple the towers into lower Manhattan (maximizing the damage to New York City) instead of having them telescope, more or less neatly, into the streets below? ...Oh, never mind; they were probably afraid they would end up squashing some of the numerous Jews that were allegedly told to stay home that day. Never mind... Posted by: Wes S. on June 15, 2005 01:15 AM
I'm used to dealing with moonbats. This one strikes a blow, though. As I'm currently working at Texas A&M, I didn't believe that those people existed here. People who don't like Bush? Sure. People who blame America for everything? This is the first time... Posted by: prolix on June 15, 2005 02:40 AM
. . . Eh. Stories like this are rather like the face of the Virgin in a piece of toast--if you're already among the devout believers, you see it--but if you're not, then. . .dude. . .it's just a frickin' PIECE OF TOAST. Posted by: alex on June 15, 2005 02:44 AM
I was discussing this this weekend with some friends. Not about this guy, but people we have known or who we heard about. For all purposes they seemed well adjusted then out of the blue, developed world class conspiracy theories. I mean big time -- press conferences, running around the country, dedicating their lives to it, etc. I can only chalk it up to a form of mental illness. Posted by: on June 15, 2005 05:28 AM
I guess he forgot we actually have video footage of the planes hitting the buildings. And apparently has no clue what's going on in the real world. Posted by: Jenny on June 15, 2005 10:15 AM
Oh yeah, the Government did it. I wonder how hard it was to come up with hundreds of volunteers to board those planes in order to sacrifice their lives to help President Bush out with his wicked plan to eradicate the WTC's. And to think idiots like this are responsible for educating young people in our country. SHEESH! Posted by: Gun-Toting Liberal on June 15, 2005 11:29 AM
Well, all the brokers at Cantor I spoke to 30 or so times day did mention the Men In Black carting around heavy cases marked Danger! Explosives! and stacking them around their desks. Wait a second. No, they didn't. Posted by: spongeworthy on June 15, 2005 11:33 AM
Conspiracy-theorists seem to be of a similar psychological type, same as serial killers are. ACE - What do you know about these types? Perhaps they are smarter than their peers and coworkers, and perhaps they are unrecognized as such, and perhaps they've been socially marginalized, and perhaps they're planning a big event at work that involves three pistols, an SKS, a shotgun, and a 7mm Magnum deer rifle with 1,000 rounds of ammo, because they all deserve it. What the hell do you know about it?
Posted by: 7272 on June 15, 2005 11:51 AM
Yes...The planes were giant holograms. Posted by: Winston on June 15, 2005 11:57 AM
It is worth noting that Osama bin Laden said that he was surprised when both towers collapsed. He said they had expected only that the top floors might collapse and took it as a sign from Allah when both buildings collapsed. However, these allegations really do need to be looked at objectively, studied and solidly refuted by the experts so as to leave no doubt as to what happened. Posted by: 72PRUNES on June 15, 2005 12:00 PM
I don't know 72. Conspiracy theorists (the really wacky ones, like THIS guy - who I heard interviewed today), are so far bent that facts and figgers really don't persuade them. If they can't argue with the fact, they dismiss it as "a lie, or part of the conspiracy". It was funny though, the interviewer (WBAP 820 AM - Dallas/Ft. Worth) actually got exasperated with the guy. It can be tough to play a straight guy up against a barking looney. Posted by: Dave in Texas on June 15, 2005 01:55 PM
Highly intelligent and educated does not equal sane and credible. Think Ted Kasynski. Posted by: Dman on June 15, 2005 02:01 PM
I hear Dan Rather has a genuine 1972 memo that explains how the whole 9/11 thing was a ploy to get Bush out of Guard duty. Posted by: TallDave on June 15, 2005 03:02 PM
And if I might followup Wes S.'s questions with one of my own: how is it that this administration of "evil geniuses" could sneak all those explosives into two heavily-trafficked buildings and place them without any questions asked, but couldn't smuggle a single suitcase nuke into Iraq to support the WMD scenario? The Texas A&M rebuttal statement is one of the clearest statements I've heard yet. Posted by: Mikey on June 15, 2005 04:49 PM
Winston: "Yes...The planes were giant holograms." But that wouldn't explain the hundreds of people who suddenly "died" that day. Either they were volunteers on the planes, or they were rushed into the Witness Protection Program to further the conspiracy of President Bush. After all, there is really no other reasonable explanation is there? Posted by: Gun-Toting Liberal on June 15, 2005 04:52 PM
how is it that we have to work for a living, i tell you it's a conspiracy! Posted by: on June 16, 2005 03:33 AM
When ever I hear about some stupid consipiracy theory like this or others, I remember how one of the smartest, most ruthless and powerful Presidents in modern times, couldn't even cover up a simple botched burglary. Posted by: Master of None on June 16, 2005 10:15 AM
This article about the world record demolition of a building not 20% of the WTC should suffice as to the impossibility of setting up a controlled demolition of the WTC without a single person noticing. http://www.controlled-demolition.com/default.asp?reqLocId=7&reqItemId=20030225133807 Posted by: gothpunkr on June 17, 2005 12:53 PM

Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. Robinson voice "where's your cuck now?" I posted his post on twitter and it's gotten 25K views so far. Thanks, Smell the Glove Chris

"It's f**king f**ked."
-- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source" Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held. Basil the Great
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.
Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing. Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult. Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending. (((Dan Hodges))) Nick Lowles
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98. Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years. Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45 Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%. I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens. REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs. Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
![]() That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time. I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
