Dead Link Office; A Seriously Goofy MoodMany people have changed their URL's lately for one reason or another; the death (?) of blogger seems to be a big one. I haven't kept up with the various address-changes like I should have. If your link needs updating, please inform me again, either here or by email. Sorry I didn't get to it sooner. And, as you may have noticed, this week has not really been very serious here at AoSHQ. Usually I try to mix up silliness and serious news; but the news has been either depressing or boring, and I'm just in a stupid-goofy mood anyhow. That's just the mood I'm in, the kind of comedy-intergity kick I'm on. Hopefully this will pass soon and I'll get back to posting about boring shit again. I don't know why I'm acting this way. I don't do this for a living. posted by Ace at 02:06 PM
CommentsEr...what "death of Blogger"? Posted by: Little Mikey on April 1, 2005 02:11 PM
heh. Um, my uh, link seems to be, um, missing. Posted by: Drew on April 1, 2005 02:14 PM
Blogger sucks. I've moved Slublog to its own domain and have started using Movable Type. http://www.slublog.com Posted by: Slublog on April 1, 2005 02:15 PM
OK, so the "death of Blogger" just means people think it sucks and are switching away from it? I guess I'd call that more the "mass eschewing of Blogger". I thought maybe I'd missed some bombshell news that Blogger was going out of business. Posted by: Little Mikey on April 1, 2005 02:19 PM
To be honest, I'm not sure what's going on with blogger. I haven't kept up. But I get the feeling they're going to pull the plug at some point. Posted by: ace on April 1, 2005 02:20 PM
Not my blog, but I noticed you still have Tim Blair's old site. It's now: http://timblair.net/ Posted by: Matt on April 1, 2005 02:21 PM
OK, so the "death of Blogger" DOESN'T mean that people just don't like it anymore. It means that there are rumors that it is going to go under sometime in the near future. Wow, that would really suck. There are still a lot of blogs -- and a lot of good ones -- on Blogger. I'd have to think the majority of those would just vanish, as many people aren't inclined to get their own domain or switch to something else. Not to mention all the archives that would vanish into the ether. Posted by: Little Mikey on April 1, 2005 02:25 PM
It's not so much that my link's wrong, just that it's two links all smashed together, which of course takes you to 404Ville... Posted by: Jimmie on April 1, 2005 02:25 PM
Blogger will officially pull the plug when they: 1) realize my crappy blog exists on their servers; Let's be honest...who could blame them? Jack "Ted McGinley" M. Posted by: Jack M. on April 1, 2005 02:28 PM
Thanks. Keep the corrections coming. I promise to fix soonish. Posted by: ace on April 1, 2005 02:29 PM
I'd be VERY surprised if Google pulled the plug on Blogger, as that would earn them an incredible amount of ill will. Does anyone have a link to stories about this? Or wild speculation about this? I'm just curious about what the basis for this is. Posted by: Little Mikey on April 1, 2005 02:34 PM
How about replacing my invisible URL with http://bamapachyderm.com? 'Cause I hate being "the missing link". [insert cheesy grin here] Yeah, I'm link-whoring but this IS the link-whoring thread, isn't it? Posted by: Beth on April 1, 2005 03:02 PM
I think you're allowed to be in stupid-goofy moods. Heck, that's my "blog mood" 90 percent of the time. Posted by: Petitedov on April 1, 2005 03:18 PM
If you're feeling that goofy, come over to my blog and help me smack down some Slate readers. They're still all fired up over the Schaivo post... Posted by: fat kid on April 1, 2005 03:39 PM
Ace- I notice a renewed spirit of Anka jokes ever since we posted (and you linkled) "In Defense of Anka." Or maybe that's just my CavalryChargentric view of the universe. In any event, keep it up. That's what people of substance do. Posted by: TO'D on April 1, 2005 03:51 PM
"death of blogger" ? You know, it is April 1, folks. Posted by: Michael Vickers on April 1, 2005 04:19 PM
