There Will, I Fear, Be News About the Pope Today

And it's not likely to be good news. There have already been reports he died; the Vatican denies, and says his heart and brain continue to function.

Drudge is obviously the go-to site for the news which will be unfortunately unfolding.

Update: Trey Jackson has a video about how Pope John Paul II changed the world. For the better.

The Vatican released a statement:
The Pope was heard muttering "damn glad I don't live in Florida"; Michael Schiavo called to let the Pontiff know that he was keeping him 'in his thoughts'.

I would encourage Catholics to rejoice that the ailing pontiff is free at last. "To conquer death you only have to die..." Thank you, Lord.

Tasteless, yes, but was it Scrappleface, or maybe Iowahawk who did the story "Florida Courts Order Pope's Feeding Tube Removed"?

Posted by: Dave J on April 1, 2005 03:35 PM

The difference between the Pope and T Schiavo?

T Schiavo was plucked out of over a million or so vegetatives whose feeding machines were turned off because she made a good symbol. She also had critical attributes - young, white, female, pretty smile. That fit the Chandra, Jon Bonet, Drue, Laci, Brittany, Olson twins, etc. profile.

The Pope was plucked out of a billion Catholics for his leadership and spiritual qualities. For his 1st 15 years he was a great, vital, leader and spiritual head. The last 11? A reminder that like with Supreme Court Justices - lifetime appointments aren't really a great idea.

Yeah, he gave great advice to poor people everywhere, Cedarass: birth control is a sin. Yeah, keep having babies that you can't innoculate or feed. A real fuckin' great leader. You Cedarshithead

You mean the Pope was forcing people to have sex even when they couldn't provide for any of the possible fruits thereof? Damn, he was even more powerful that I thought!

Posted by: Sonetka on April 1, 2005 05:54 PM

yeah, poor people shouldn't have sex.

Posted by: on April 1, 2005 05:59 PM

Hey, Cedar's boyfriend, care to provide a name?

Posted by: Andrea Harris on April 1, 2005 06:16 PM

I thought my mom taught me everything there was to know about dying gracefully.

Karol Wojtyla showed me a couple of things I hadn't considered.

God welcome him to his well-deserved rest.

If they're unable to provide food and clothing for a child, yes. With the exception of rape, it's not that hard at all to keep yourself from getting pregnant. Even without condoms.

And I wouldn't mind seeing a name under your message, either.
