« Haiku Contest | Main | It Gets Worse: Burkett Gave Documents to CBS Only Upon the Condition that CBS Broker a Meeting with the Kerry Campaign »

Retracted Story: Was-- DNC's Last Line of Defense?: "Don't blame us; we told CBS they looked fake"

Random Birkel reports that Tony Coehlo admitted on Hardball that the DNC had these documents previous to the CBS report, but they, ahem, told CBS the documents looked fake, presumably, ahem, trying to warn CBS not to go with the story.

Ummm... right.

Random Birkel now says Coehlo was talking about the Gore campaign knowing about these charges.

Sorry for the gaffe.

And Joe Lockhart called the Texas Col for Mary Mapes. See Allah. Wrap it up--the DNC>

Okay, so let me get this straight. The DNC finally gets their hands on the memos that support a claim McCauliffe has been peddling for months, and they're too flakey for the DNC to use themselves. So, they get CBS to do it. But, did they still respect them in the morning?

Posted by: Dacotti on September 20, 2004 09:17 PM

Oh, dear. Well, that's pretty much how the Kerry Spot/Prowler showed it on the Friday morning.

Eventually, I should stop snickering.

Is it hot in here or is it just me??

Let's add 4 More onto the List, excluding the whole unofficial Democratic 527 better known as CBS)

1. First, Ben Barnes and ex-Senator Cleland's pal David Van Os...Oh yeah!! The lawyer who was by Burkett's side when the first reporter showed up on the "Burkett was the source" rumors started flying.

Former head of his county Democrats, fundraiser.
A "Deans Dozen Selectee" - meaning Howlin' Howard went to Texas to campaign for him in May. Member of the Florida Recount team. Candidate for Texas Supreme Court.

One of the 10 most prominent Texas Democrats.

Who just happened to show up at Burkett's door - vice 76,000 other lawyers - as Burkett's counsel.

2. Strong Texas Democrat, ex-CBS newsman, and writer James C. Moore. Author of "Bush's Brain" and "Bush's War for Re-election". Both books involving many background interviews with Max Cleland and Bill Burkett. On February 15th and 16th, Moore and Burkett flew to NYC together for a series of interviews with CBS, CNN, Bill Mahres HBO show, Paula Zahn, and PBS about Bush's National Guard record.

3. Terry McAufliffe, who was attendee at a nice dinner or two in the late summer at his #3 Fundraiser's tony Nantucket house. No word if Barnes's next door neighbor Dan Rather attended, or if the Great War Hero himself, who was famously wind-surfing on Nantucket showed up.

4. Walter Robinson, of the Boston Globe (owned by the NYTimes), who curiously has written anti-Bush Guard articles at the same time as CBS, Dem candidates, DNC, Democratic 527s have all elected to launch their dayys/weeks/months in the making anti-Bush Guard stuff. In Nov 2000, Feb 2004, and Sept 2004, Walter Robinson always led with the first blow.

That explains why prominent democrats DEFENDED THE STORY THEY KNEW WAS BOGUS. Actually, that explains a lot, doesn't it?

Lost Seventies Mystery Click: The Darkest Song Ever Recorded?
I think Professor of Rock (on YouTube) claimed this song was so upsetting that people used to pull over to the side of the road when it came on the radio. It's about a fatal plane crash, but obviously it suggests a fatal car crash too, which could wig out a driver.
It's like one of those nasty 70s anti-war body horror movies. Not for the squeamish. I'm not even going to post the lyrics because they're upsetting too.

Believe these stars are starting to shoot

I'm frankly surprised the title is 107 Days. I would have thought it would be:

Days Are Important: The Amount of Days Was a Number and That Number Was 100 Plus 7 Which is 107. 107. One Hundred and Seven. It's a Memoir and Memoirs are About Remembering Things Because Remembering Things is Good. Not Bad. Good. Memoir. A Memoir. Like a Reservoir But With Memory. We Have to Let it Flow. We Have to Let It Flow Into the Reservoir of Our Mind and Our Heart. Our Heart Which is the Beating Heart of Not Just Our Blood, But Our Progress. And Our People. And Democracy. The End.

Soft weak poop from the early 80s Mystery Click
I never liked this song, but it is memorable. In a weak, annoying way.
The kid's in shock up and down the block
The folks are home playing beat the clock
Down at the golden cup
They set the young ones up
Under the neon light
Selling day for night
It's alright

Former CIA operative John Kiriakou talks with Matt Taibbi about the Brennan/Comey Coup
Both guys are old liberals, maybe even of the far-left variety, and both are appalled by the Democrat/Deep State coup against the US. Kiriakou says that CIA officers were legally obligated to report to the Inspector General John Brennan's repeated overruling of actual intelligence to encode his partisan conspiracy theories into US intel product, but of course they didn't.
