Bill Clinton Undergoes Emergency Bypass Surgery

Let's all pray for the best. If nothing else, the man keeps it interesting.

Booing Bullshit? Right now, Filet-O-Fish is pimping a story that thousands "booed" when Bush wished Clinton a speedy recovery. This article says differently, and notes that claim has been excised from the article.

Thanks to Nick.

Drudge Confirms: Story retracted; audiotape reveals cheers, not boos.

This reporter needs to explain himself very persuasively or else be fired.

I question the timing of this event.

Posted by: brian on September 3, 2004 02:43 PM

I wonder how Johnny Paper-Cut feels about this.

Posted by: sonofnixon on September 3, 2004 02:55 PM

Brian:

Clinton canceled a two-day joint trip with his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, across upstate New York.

Timing sounds perfect to me.

Posted by: Rube on September 3, 2004 03:07 PM

So bypass surgery is better than a trip with Hillary? Yeah, I guess it is.

Partisanship aside, I hope he pulls through fine.

Posted by: Retread on September 3, 2004 03:09 PM

All our best and get well soon. Monica, Paula, Genifer, Kathleen, and other members of the bimbo eruption team.

Posted by: Dittybopper on September 3, 2004 03:14 PM

Come on, this isn't the time for shots on the man.

Hope that he pulls through so it will once again be that time.

Posted by: ace on September 3, 2004 03:15 PM

If it's any consolation, I felt bad about what I wrote as I was leaving for lunch. I did get a salad, though.

Posted by: Ken J on September 3, 2004 03:23 PM

Bill will do anything to get out of a weekend with Hillary, won't he?

Will the nurses save their scrubs like Monica did?

Hope he recovers quickly, since it will be boring without him....

Posted by: OneDrummer on September 3, 2004 03:27 PM

I'm not trying to be all "Let's be responsible." It's just I'm sure no one actually wishes him ill (well, political ill, yes, but not this sort of literal ill), and if the DU'ers were joking about a Dick Cheney coronary episode, we'd crucify them.

Posted by: ace on September 3, 2004 03:27 PM

Thanks, Ace. All your jokes about irresponsibility aside, you're right.

If we can't wish him well, shut up.

Posted by: Dianna on September 3, 2004 03:36 PM

You know, I hang out with some folks at a unversity who have quite literally and honestly wished for the death of John Ashcroft, on one occasion, and Paul Wolfowitz, on another. In my presence, too, either assuming I wouldn't be offended or not caring.

Not everyone was comfortable with that, I should add, but it's nothing unusual around these parts. And every time it happens it reminds me of why I'm conservative.

So Bill, you philandering son of a bitch, I hope you get better.

Posted by: see-dubya on September 3, 2004 03:43 PM

I wish him the best. What fun would it be to be a Republican without a character like Bill Clinton around??
Anyhoo.
What will Bill Clinton's first words be when he wakes up after surgery?

"HELLOOOOO NURSE!"

Posted by: lauraw on September 3, 2004 03:50 PM

Hah!

Posted by: ace on September 3, 2004 03:52 PM

I heard Michael Moore is going to film part of Bill's recovery as part of a documentary on the influence of Russ Meyers on politicians....

Posted by: OneDrummer on September 3, 2004 03:55 PM

Wishing the ex-prez a complete and speedy recovery. Period.

Posted by: iowahawk on September 3, 2004 04:29 PM

Lost my dad and my younger brother to heart attacks. Ages 67 and 42. Not much fun.

But, as much as I detest the cat, I wish Clinton a speedy recovery and a long life. I know he's already thinking: "Hey...NURSES!"

Posted by: kelly on September 3, 2004 04:33 PM

Ditto Iowahawk's comment. Period.

However, I can forecast tomorrow's New York Times headline:

"Clinton experiences heart failure; Blacks, Women suffer most."

Yeah, I'm revising even my faint earlier sneer. Bill, get better, full stop.

Posted by: See-Dubya on September 3, 2004 05:23 PM

Ace,

Time to demand honesty from AP. Call their Wiconsin office: 414-225-3580.

From the link ...

"Local AP honcho LEE HUGHES is refusing to release the name of the reporter who started the lie. WISN has given out the phone number of the local AP office. Please call and ask them to release the name of the reporter 414-225-3580"

Posted by: Kirk on September 3, 2004 05:59 PM

Kirk - The reporter was probably Susan Estrich.

Posted by: Brian on September 3, 2004 06:08 PM

His name is Tom Hays. The reporter, that is.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
