Ernst Stavro Gorefeld, Part II

East, West, just points of the compass, each as stupid as the other. There is no East, there is no West: There is only SPECTRE. -- Dr. Julius No, the villain from the James Bond film Dr. No

Dominance is not really a strategic policy or political philosophy at all. It is a seductive illusion that tempts the powerful to satiate their hunger for more power still by striking a Faustian bargain. And as always happens - sooner or later - to those who shake hands with the devil, they find out too late that what they have given up in the bargain is their soul. -- Former Democratic candidate for President, Al Gore

This idea is quite fixed in the minds of Democrats and liberals: That there is no real "victory" possible in war, because the true enemy in war is war itself. Al Qaeda isn't really our enemy; violence is our enemy, and when we resort to violence, we become our very enemy.

They really do see all this fighting in Marxian terms: as a distraction from the "real war," which is to say, the class war, or the promotion of transnational progressivism.

And you know the funny thing? Ernst Stavro Blofeld posed as the head of an international relief agency for refugees, a well-regarded NGO similar to the Red Cross.

I always thought that was stupid as a kid. How could an evil mastermind possibly head up an international aid agency credited as being a force for good in the world?

How little I knew.

Thanks to Nick Kronos for the suggestion.

Man. Compare Gore's remarks to today's essay by Victor Hanson and I think I have to agree with Lileks that the war for the center is over - that is, in my view, there is no such thing as a political center. When it comes to War, the philosophical gulf between left and right is utterly unbridgeable.

I'll read that Lileks piece. Sounds interesting.

Clarification: Lileks made a passing reference to the "war for the center" about a month ago and didn't actually write an essy on it, unless you consider his archive entire one long essay on the subject. I'll try to find the exact link today after work - uh, I mean, when I have the time (blog from work? moi? - if you're interested.

Hanson's essay is at http://victorhanson.com/Articles/Private%20Papers/Wages_of_Appeasement.html

I say we make Al Gore the Interim President of Iraq. He can bore them to death and the war will be over.

Am I the only one who caught subliminal, REAL message? I grant it may be because I'm hopped up on Dr Pepper and Taco Bell hot sauce, but I could swear I read the following:

"The same pattern NICK BERG characterizes virtually all of their policies NICK BERG. They resent NICK BERG any constraint NICK BERG as an insult NICK BERG to their will NICK BERG to dominate and exercise power NICK BERG. Their appetite for power NICK BERG is astonishing NICK BERG. It has led them to introduce NICK BERG a new level of viciousness NICK BERG in partisan politics NICK BERG. It is that viciousness NICK BERG that led them to attack NICK BERG as unpatriotic NICK BERG, Senator Max Cleland AMERICAN JEW NICK BERG, who lost three limbs LOST HIS HEAD in combat IN CAPTIVITY during the Vietnam War BY AMERICA'S ENEMIES IN IRAQ."

Was it just me?

Probably. I gotta kick this soft drink habit.

That cat's not white enough for his evil prop. Photoshop, I say, photoshop!

I know, it's too yellow, but the funny thing is, it IS photoshopped, and that cat was taken directly out of a picture with Ernst Stavro Blofeld as played by Donald Pleasance.

For some reason, it ended up all yellowish. I asked the guy who did it to fix it, but, since he had already done me one favor by doing the pic in the first place, he blew me off.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
