Compare Gore's remarks to today's essay by Victor Hanson and I think I have to agree with Lileks that the war for the center is over - that is, in my view, there is no such thing as a political center. When it comes to War, the philosophical gulf between left and right is utterly unbridgeable.

Clarification: Lileks made a passing reference to the "war for the center" about a month ago and didn't actually write an essy on it, unless you consider his archive entire one long essay on the subject. I'll try to find the exact link today after work - uh, I mean, when I have the time (blog from work? moi? - if you're interested.
