Coal Mine Catastrophe: It's All Bush's Fault

For some, not a sunrise could warm nor a flower bloom without praising Clinton for his infinite wisdom.

Same thing with Bush, but in reverse. There's just no death or calamity that somehow isn't due to his insidious machinations.

Question: Does anyone suspect this guy wrote this unhinged post knowing it was unhinged? Only to whore for links (including links by conservatives)? How pathetic is that? To make such an absurd claim just to goose your traffic for a day and a half?

The Divine Miss M has more on the tragedy.

Also... The AP isn't content to refuse to call terrorists what they are. Apparently it's actually using the terrorists' preferred terminology-- martyrs.

Perhaps we should begin calling the murder victims "collateral martyrs" or "involuntary ad-hoc martyrs" while we're at it.

Aren't we all martyrs to the Reptilloid-space vampire Bush's simplistic refusal to placate?

I mean aren't we?

fwiw, West Virginia has state oversight and regulation enforcement on miner safety

http://www.wvminesafety.org/

that's the West Virginia Mine Safety dot Org

But, obviously, nobody knows who the hell Governor Manchin III is so let the Bush Bashing continue unabated.

Posted by: BumperStickerist on January 3, 2006 04:10 PM

A commenter is over there arguing that the coal miners deserve their fate.

Boilermaker: Cruel thing to say to the bereaved if it comes to that. But, if you vote based on race, southern strategy, Gay marriages and other so-called moral values at the expense of your future welfare...you deserve your fate, whatever that fate might be.

I suppose it would be pointless to note that nuclear power would make coal mines obsolete? Of course it would. That would suggest the some kind of culpability on the Left.

More importantly, it would not be a condemnation of Bush unless we can convince people nuclear reactors are fueled by petroleum, so, why bother.

I saw that as well bumperstickerist and replied to this ghoul there and on my blog.

Nor could a furtive blowjob be given without it being heralded as the end of civilization as we know it.

Just as the faith of some hardcore followers of various religions grows in inverse proportion to the absence of miracles or other Earthly justification for it, so too do liberals derive comfort from finding ever more inventive ways to say "I hate Bush" as their party is seen as increasingly irrelevant by voters.

These aren't sober people with practical solutions who are ready and willing to defend their message against all comers, they are just dashing off more tripe for exclusively liberal audiences keyed up and waiting for an excuse to shout "Amen! Uh huh! Oh yes!" - when they belatedly discover that some non-believer has been methodically deconstructing their flawed reasoning or spreading their nonsense past the accustomed media filters, their reaction tends to run toward "oh CAN'T something be done about those damn conservatives?" (a la Shrillary)

Feh, who cares if a President commits felonies in office anyway?

Posted by: on January 3, 2006 05:17 PM

Furtive blowjob?
Dude, when you've got a heiffer like Monica under your desk mouthifying your wang in the OVAL OFFICE, in the WHITE HOUSE, when you're PRESIDENT, surrounded by Secret Service and surveillence of all kinds, and you're on the phone talking to Arafat or whoever, furtive is not the word that describes the situation.
Maybe "suicidally horny".
Maybe "perpetual adolescent".
Maybe "hillbilly dumbfuck".
Maybe "fuck that bitch I''m married to".
Furtive? No.

Uh huh. I wonder if that commenter knows who Senator Byrd is.

or Jay Rockefeller

Boilermaker over on that blog is reviving the Kos screw 'em meme. Or maybe the genesis is with Michael Moore. Remember how Michael Moore was baffled on September 12 how Osama attacked a blue state, because those people didn't vote for Bush? The implication is that raining 9/11 style death and destruction down upon Bush voters, well, that makes a lot more sense. If it had turned out that Al Qaeda had blown up mostly 'Bush voters' -- i.e. only statistically likely to have voted Republican -- on 9/11, Moore might have beat Kos out to be first with screw 'em.

Lefties like to think of themselves as rationalists, but they just apply that Old Time Religion part of the brain to politics. "By thy voting Republican (or, in this case, even just putatively voting Republican!) thou hast sinned, and the wages of thy sin shall be death!" It's not that different from Falwell's or Robertson's bullshit (I keep getting their stupidities mixed up) about Katrina slapping New Orleans around because there are strip clubs on Bourbon Street.

Blame the eco-freaks and politicians blocking the drilling in the ANWR they have put polar bears over the lives of miners lets feed the eco-freaks to the polar bears

Average annual coal-mining fatalities 1993-2000: 38.8.
Average annual coal-mining fatalities 2001-2005: 29.8.

You could look it up.

Posted by: Paul Zrimsek on January 3, 2006 09:18 PM

Are you implying that that piece of data is enough to suggest correlation equals causation, Paul?

Posted by: Bart on January 3, 2006 09:23 PM

Unlike certain members of the reality-based community, I'm jumping to no conclusions at all about causation. I'm just pointing out that the gutting of safety regulations (real and proposed-- not that Mr, Shields can tell the difference between the two) under the eeevil Bush doesn't seem to show up in the statistics.

Posted by: Paul Zrimsek on January 3, 2006 09:48 PM

One more thing you won't learn from reading the MyDD screed: how, specifically, would it have helped to "revise and clarify an existing standard that requires underground metal and nonmetal mines to have at least two separate exits to the surface", given that the existing standard continues to exist?

Posted by: Paul Zrimsek on January 3, 2006 10:42 PM

How about we just call the AP anti-American whores and terrorist supporters and leave it at that?

Posted by: TrueLiberal on January 4, 2006 12:30 AM

Breaking-
12 of the 13 miners have been rescued, with #13 dying.
It's being called a miracle.
Can we assign this to Bush then?
I mean, he was asking for all to pray for them, he was praying for them...
Say, 12, just like Christ's 12 apostles...
And the 13th, as the fire boss, the guy that is first in to ensure the safety of the others, may have given his life for the other 12...
Eat it, heathen pigs! Heh...

Posted by: Uncle Jefe on January 4, 2006 12:37 AM

No, they'll claim that the 12 who lived did so because of the Watchful Hand Of Government Regulation, but the one unfortunate soul who died met his passing because of the "callous Bushitlerburton fascination with energy generation at all costs, and besides he lives in WV and is a white male so he probably voted for Bushitlerburton anyway, so screw him."

I need a drink - I'm channeling Kos. Oy...

12 of the 13 miners have been rescued

That's fantastic!!! I hadn't dared to hope.

Posted by: Sortelli on January 4, 2006 12:43 AM

Me neither, Sortelli.
I was screwing around with the Jeebusland bit, but this really is some damn good luck for these boys.
Great start for their new year, I'd say.
God Bless.

Posted by: Uncle Jefe on January 4, 2006 01:02 AM

George Bush doesn't care about miners.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
