Scooter Vs. Trans AmA Go-Ped is a scooter with a relatively large engine. In this video, it races a Trans Am. I know that in short sprints a man can beat a horse (we're better accelerating from zero), and of course a motorcycle and beat a car, so I wasn't expecting to be too surprised if the Go-Ped beat the Trans Am right out of the blocks. The odd thing, though, is that the Trans Am pulls to a small early lead, and then the Go-Ped actually overtakes it. The Trans Am driver may have held back. Or he may be a chimp when it comes to changing gears. The Go-Ped does move pretty fast, though. Another thing your kids will want that you can't possibly give them. It'd be safer to give them that Gary Glitter "Sensual Mysteries of the Orient" Adventure Weekened they've been clamoring for. posted by Ace at 03:03 PM

Thanks for the link. I'll pay to send them on that Gary Glitter weekend. Posted by: Retired Geezer on November 23, 2005 03:19 PM

Hey, back in 1979, Honda used to sell the CM400A, a 400cc two-cylinder bike with an automatic transmission. It could beat the then-current Porsches in a quarter mile. Posted by: cirby on November 23, 2005 03:52 PM
Good deals at sexpedia and whorebits too. Posted by: scott on November 23, 2005 04:01 PM
My gawd, ace, can't you just...move on already? Scooter will get his day in court and the investigation is winding down. This Trans Am guy probably doesn't even work in the administration. Wait a minute... Posted by: kelly on November 23, 2005 04:08 PM
This is bullshit! Nothing can touch my 'Zam except another even sweeter Zam (which is an impossibility). Just more irresponsible slander from blogs. Get this shit straight. Posted by: Ray Midge on November 23, 2005 04:31 PM
Gary glitter weekend in T-land hum? I heard the Dems were on that tour so I gave up my slot to Pelosi, she likes tranvestite hookers & made some cash. The video was well done BUT come on Ace a scooter HAHAHAHA nope.... Posted by: craig on November 23, 2005 04:56 PM
I know that in short sprints a man can beat a horseWrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. A man can beat a car over short distances. I've actually done the man/horse thing and it's not even close. Seriously, before the guy finishes his first stride the horse is like two lengths out. If you've ever ridden a horse you know that they absolutely explode off the line, they have four very strong legs that they can push off with all at once. It's no contest. Posted by: Bill on November 23, 2005 05:21 PM
Power to weight ratios folks. That Go-Ped isn't just using any old leaf blower engine. According to the video, that thing has got a 23,000 RPM redline, as is running a wet shot of nitrous oxide. If all of that is true, it could maybe give the Trans Am a run for its' money in an 1/8th of a mile race. Posted by: Hector on November 23, 2005 05:30 PM
I know that over short sprints a man can beat a horse... Isn't it the other way 'round? Horses are great over short or medium distances, but humans are outstanding endurance runners. Over the long, long haul--like several miles and several hours--a fit human can outrun practically anything. Posted by: utron on November 23, 2005 05:52 PM
Horses are great over short or medium distances, but humans are outstanding endurance runners. Horses long distance abilites are largely unknown. FACT: Challenged to any long distance race, horses are notorious for offering up lame reasons why they can't, from "Mom won't let me go that far from home" to "We're going to my aunt's later and I can't get all sweaty." FACT: Horses are just incredibly lazy creatures who refuse to put in the training required to excel in long distance racing. This common fact, of course, is the genesis of the slur "..likes to lie around all day, not training, like a horse." Horses are also unreliable. When one says they'll be over later to help you with moving over into your new place, well, your gonna be a waiting a long time for them to show. AND your gonna get a hell of bullshit story why they couldn't when you finally catch up with them the next day... their truck's radiator was leaking real bad... they had to take their girlfriend to the hospital. Etc. Sure, horses are okay to chill with, but don't think they'll come through for you. Juut their way. Posted by: Ned Pepper on November 23, 2005 06:28 PM
The totally cool thing about this video is when the kid on the moped gives the finger to the Trans Am before the race starts. Posted by: Michael on November 23, 2005 07:08 PM
Yeah, but the guy on the scooter is screwed if the guy on the Trans Am decides to swap a little paint. "But officer, I was just 'racing hard'!" Posted by: Terry on November 23, 2005 07:36 PM
Yeah, but the guy on the scooter is screwed if the guy on the Trans Am decides to swap a little paint. See, the Trans Am has to catch the little bugger before that happens. Posted by: Michael on November 23, 2005 07:41 PM
I won't feel a thing when I run that kid over in my Lincoln Navigator. Who wins now, sucka? Posted by: Bart on November 24, 2005 01:41 AM
Com'on guys, that can't be real. The Trans-Am can pull a solid G of acceleration. If the scooter shot out that fast if would fly out from under the driver. To be stable at 1 G of acceleration, your wheel base must be twice the length as your center of gravity is high. (assuming you are well centered.) Thats why a motorcycle rider needs to lean forward and low on a hard acceleration, or they will pop a wheelie. You just couldn't hang on to a scooter accellerating that fast. Posted by: emg on November 24, 2005 02:13 AM
Killjoy. Posted by: Michael on November 24, 2005 12:13 PM
If I had a scooter, I'd name it "Libby." Posted by: rd on November 24, 2005 12:16 PM
Nitrous on a wheelie-barred scooter ??? Can't tell if it rocks or sucks. Posted by: Tom_with_a_Dream on November 24, 2005 08:01 PM
See, the Trans Am has to catch the little bugger before that happens. Well per Ace: The odd thing, though, is that the Trans Am pulls to a small early lead, and then the Go-Ped actually overtakes it. See, the Trans Am driver just needs to decide that he is gonna win early in the race!

Dolly Parton tells the story of the supposedly real-life Jolene
As Andrew Branca says, can we see this Jolene, finally? Who was this hottie that was a genuine sexual threat to Dolly Parton? I think this is Fake News personally. When a magician claims he learned a trick from a Himalayan wise man, I don't believe him either.

Breaking news: Dolly Parton had a real pair of 38s
Or at least one. She carried it everywhere for protection. This joke brought to you by Benny Hill. And speaking of the British: The Buckingham Palace guard tributed her yesterday
Dolly Parton is badgered into saying something negative about Trump's bus-board locker-room talk, but refuses to bow to the media pressure, telling the twink agitator she learned long ago to "keep your damned mouth shut"
What I'm appreciating is that while her surface is soft and sweet, she's got some actual steel a centimeter underneath.
1977 interview shows that Barbara Walters has always been a seaward and Dolly Parton always had "country class"
Walters actually asks Dolly Parton if she knows that people think she's a joke. This because Walters can't get over the fact that a show-woman has 1, big breasts, and 2, dresses a bit outrageously because, get this, she's an entertainer. A stage performer. You know, someone people pay money to see live and expect them to put on a show. She never would attack Liberace for wearing glitter-tuxedos. But she's mad that Dolly Parton makes Barbara Walters look bad through association (by being a woman). Babs, you wish people associated the two of you. Believe me, we can tell the difference.

Months ago, I reported that the final Zodiac cypher had been cracked and the name of the killer revealed. And the name of the killer turned out to be someone suspected in the unsolved Black Dahlia murder. The general tone of my mention of this was "serious you guys, this is real."
Well, it's not real. It's total bullshit. Sorry about that. I did two things: 1, I bought into something, a conspiracy theory really, because it was new and exciting. And 2, I allowed a self-declared "expert" to snow me over with his "expert" claims about solving ciphers, an alleged expertise I could not challenge because I know practically nothing about codebreaking. I remember being similarly swindled by self-declared "experts" babbling about "chromatic aberrations." (Although I didn't really buy into that, but I found it "interesting" and I wasn't strongly skeptical about it. Hey they said they're "experts," they must know that they're talking about, right?) I screwed up. It won't be the last time, I'm sure. Recent Comments
