Storytelling

Breaking: Sept. 27, 2005 (Atlanta)

A power outage at CNN has plunged the cablenews channel’s cafeteria into anarchic rumor-pit. Reports are arriving that with electricity gone, the huddled survivors have had to rely on only bright sunlight streaming in through the windows.

“Sure it’s fine in some areas,” a frantic Judy Woodruff noted, ‘but over by the salad bar it’s kinda shadowy. Who knows what’s in there? Am I reaching for the croutons or a severed human head?”

The report continues:

Anderson Cooper tries to remain calm, but the veneer is cracking. “You can't really see into some of the corners, it's a little too dark. Now, we won't know for certain until the lights come back on, but I hear there's bodies stacked up like cordwood there.”

MSNBC's Tucker Carlson, reporting on scene, noted, “It’s like something out of Lord of the Flies. I’ve heard that roving gangs of producers are raping children and shooting at security guards.”

When questioned whether he’d seen any of this first hand or spoken with credible sources who had, he replied, “No. But it sounds accurate to me.”

Scary Times. Stay Tuned.

Dude, doesn't Tucker Carlson work at NSNBC.

Posted by: ken on September 27, 2005 03:40 PM

Yep. And I'm an idiot. Suppose I could change it to "Wolf Blitzer" or someone, but it's Tucker's quote that pissed me off.

Posted by: Dr.ReoSymes on September 27, 2005 03:44 PM

Hey, I'm a middle-class white woman, and I live almost twenty minutes away from CNN headquarters, and let me tell you, it's all true.

I'm not actually at the CNN headquarters, and I don't actually know anyone who works there anymore, but it's all true.

I heard it somewhere.

I just want to know when the National Guard is going to get the "shoot to kill' order.

Posted by: carin on September 27, 2005 03:52 PM

Any rapes in the darkness? You know, Larry King buttfkn' Wolf Blitzer?

Posted by: on September 27, 2005 03:56 PM

George Bush doesn't care about cable news network reporters. They, the Nationalistic Guard, have orders to come down here and shoot us. You see reports of reporters taking an extra serving of hummus and we're "looting" but in the FOX cafeteria, they're "helping themselves." Reports from Wolf now say they aren't even going to evacuate us, that we're "on our own" in this disaster on par with Chernobyl. This administrations mishandling of this crisis shows just how little the Bush family cares about America, and reporters in particular. George Bush hates reporters.

Posted by: Anderson Cooper on September 27, 2005 03:58 PM

Had to change it. Bugged me too much.

Damn, that was funny.

Can we bust on some normally reliable conservative pundits who contracted extreme cases of the vapors during the Katrina "crisis"?

Malkin? She's still wagging a finger at Brown, Chertoff and Bush over all of their alleged "failures". Think this and Brown's testimony are going to change her mind? Think again. After all, Bush recalled Brown to DC after the political firestorm she helped fan forced Bush's hand. In her world, what more proof do you need of Brown's incompetence?

Dreher? I think he's still in the fetal position somewhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The award for Most Pathetic Performance by a Conservative Pundit in the Face of a Political Crisis? Come on up and get your award, Rod Dreher!

J-Pod is coming around over at The Corner, but I must insist on more groveling and apologetic wimpers from many at that group blog. There was a urine river over there from all the ostensibly conservative writers soiling themselves at Bush's poll numbers and the savage beating he was taking in the MSM over Katrina.

I would say something about Sullivan, but what more can really be said about that noted hysteric.

Yeah, there's "plenty of blame to go around" but its not spread out amongst the federal, state and local gov'ts, but amongst the MSM reporters and pundits.

Get the troops out of Occupied Atlanta!

It's just a little power outage. Don't you know there are more important things going on in the world?

Posted by: Jack "Sheehan" M. on September 27, 2005 04:50 PM

Where is FEMA? Why aren't they airlifting in Latte's? Journalist's bodies are stacked up like cordwood and nobody cares. Sharks are thrashing about over by the taco bar! And why are my eyes so far apart? Where are the authorites on that one?

Posted by: Shep Smith on September 27, 2005 05:01 PM

Fred .You had me at Malkin. Bravo.

Posted by: Dman on September 27, 2005 05:08 PM

I am now receiving apparently true reports that Dr. Sanjay of House Call has been eaten. That's right, people - the CNN cafeteria has resorted to cannibalism. The chicken parmesan has cooled on the steam table and been dubbed "untenable" by the staff, resulting in mass hysteria and outbreaks of cannibalism. Standby for more...

Posted by: Tucker Carlson on September 27, 2005 05:10 PM

Geraldo's been seen flipping out, knudging rescue workers in the condiment ration line, screaming "There is no mayo in Waveland!" And I'm sticking by that story, dammit!

“It’s like something out of Lord of the Flies. I’ve heard that roving gangs of producers are raping children and shooting at security guards.”

I just assumed that happened anyway.

Posted by: Sobek on September 27, 2005 05:20 PM

I believe in the TRUTH of the rumors, even if they're made from wholecloth.

"If the cafeteria had harbored large numbers of middle class Fox Newscasters," Amoss said, "it would not have been a fertile ground for this kind of rumor-mongering."

Posted by: Joan of Argghh! on September 27, 2005 06:46 PM

I've found some documents that verify that Dr. Sanjay Gupta has, in fact, been eaten.

Posted by: Dan Rather on September 27, 2005 08:59 PM

Well, I can't blame them too much. He probably smelled exactly like curry chicken.

Posted by: lauraw on September 27, 2005 09:15 PM

lol, lauraw!

Posted by: BrewFan on September 27, 2005 09:20 PM

I don't know. This all sounds fake... but accurate.

Posted by: James on September 28, 2005 12:47 AM

I question the timing.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
