Penn & Teller Take On PETA's Bullshit

I've pimped this show (on Showtime) before. It's jumped the shark a little lately, as they've begun debunking hair-care products and baldness cures and the like.

Come on, guys. There's plenty more Bullshit around than that. Like this whole "female orgasm" thing I keep hearing about.

But this take-down of PETA is terrific. It's about half the actual show on PETA, with most of the best parts.

And yes, it's old. It's like from two seasons ago. But if you don't have Showtime, it's new to you.

The first two seasons are on DVD, too, which I highly recommend.

Even the shows about stuff I already knew about are great. Although I basically knew PETA and mass recycling were mostly bullshit, I didn't really get quite *how much* bullshit they are....

Worth watching, though I knew all that. Glad to see this message being left where the young peoples may hear it. It's hard to come away from an examination of PETA without thinking they hate human beings a whole lot more than they like animals. Particularly given the dismal euthanasia ratio of the pets they "rescue."

THANK YOU, ACE! It's about time someone joined up with the anti-female orgasm movement.

Next, they'll try to convince us that this "clitoris" exists. I'm more inclined to believe in Bigfoot and Nessie from scratchy photos than I am in this mythical magical nubbin of love.

Pseudo-scientific bullshit, just more of the white man's lies. I smell a Rovian plot.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

If the Big O is Big BS, what are they faking?

Posted by: Bob Hawkins on September 19, 2005 02:17 PM

Not to derail the clitoral debunking, but I want to second or third the endorsement of the Bullshit series. The language is absolutely filthy, or I would suggest it as a resource for critical thinking in high schools. I rented the first two seasons at BlockBuster.

Another warning- if you have sacred cows, these guys are going to tip them over. Nothing is sacred. Which in my mind is how we should approach things when we discuss them, even sacred (to some folks) stuff. There's something to offend everybody. It's great.

Posted by: Dave Eaton on September 19, 2005 02:44 PM

Excellent stuff. I expecially liked the RETARD that said that animal research had no scientifical basis. What the fuck is he on?

Posted by: madne0 on September 19, 2005 03:12 PM

Oh, don't even get me started on the whole clitoris hoax.

It's just yet another myth perpetuated by the Eastern establishment media to convince me that there's any benefit at all to so-called "foreplay," or as I call it, "time you really could and should be doing stuff to me."

Posted by: ace on September 19, 2005 03:39 PM

Their debunking of Noam Chomsky was inspired too, but I notice they're very careful about never mentioning Muslims or Islam despite trashing the Bible roughly every 3rd episode. I guess everyone's afraid of something.

Posted by: Ian S. on September 19, 2005 03:51 PM

Ian,

Maybe it's fear, and maybe it's laziness. Almost anyone born and raised in America has the basic background to try to take on the Bible, but actually investigating Islam means (among other things) reading the Qu'ran, reading the Hadiths, reading the works of the four major schools of sharia law, understanding the difference between Sunni and Shi'ite Islam, and covering about 1400 years of Muslim history -- an investment Penn and Teller might not be willing to make.

I've never seen the show, but I wager they've never done a penetrating expose' of Zoroastrianism or Sikhism, but I don't automatically put that down to fear.

Posted by: Sobek on September 19, 2005 04:02 PM

I've never watched this show because in the past I've found Penn & Teller to be insufferable. Does this show have enough value to put up with those two?

Posted by: BrewFan on September 19, 2005 04:12 PM

Ace. Ace. Ace. If your not enjoying foreplay your not foreplaying with the right person.

Who ARE these women that ya'll date to make you so cynical?? oh wait.. I know. You meet these girls at bars, don't you? Or maybe internet chat rooms named things like..."lonely but looking."

OR maybe your spending so much time watching stupid showtime series, you aren't actually going out to meet these "clitoris's"....;-) You just need to meet one with a nice girl attached to it.

Am I right? Am I right???

Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on September 19, 2005 08:44 PM

Good post Ace. I really thought it funny to see that guy all wimpy silent while his wife droned on, only to make it worse when he actually did open is mouth about violence being a tactic and not a moral issue.

hehe, Sparkle, that's pretty funny.

Posted by: Mark on September 19, 2005 10:16 PM

this is kind of rocking my world,

until now, I've never given any consideration to this "meet a clitoris" concept.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
