Video: Blanco Admits That Maybe Refusing Federal Troops Was a Not-So-Hot Idea

Wonderful.

Time for Part II of the Playbook. As the media's get-Bush agenda is coming apart at the seams, it's time to go to the "they're only blaming Nagin because he's black and Blanco because she's a woman" "storytellin'."

Fight! Fight! Fight!

UPDATE: Okay, I take it back. The dumbest statement of the week comes from Andrew Sullivan, who doesn't seem to get the difference between "today" and "yesterday" in a post from this morning criticizing something I quoted last night, but which he attributes to "today" as, I guess, evidence of my obliviousness to this morning's terror bombing in Iraq.

Sorry Andrew, but I'm not capable of precognition. On the other hand, I can read a clock. Jeez. I confess that I don't understand why Sullivan is so desirous of scoring cheap points at my expense these days, but this is pretty lame. As Jeff Goldstein put it in a different context: "Andrew Sullivan is completing his transformation into a Kos Diarist."

Ouch.

I'll bet Powers Boothe can see into the future.

I dunno. Whenever the NOLA officials are mentioned, I keep remembering Walter Sobchak's voice from The Big Lebowski. They were probably hearing the same crooning, slightly insane voice as Katrina bore down on them:

Nothing is fucked here, Dude. Nothing is fucked. You're being very un-Dude.

I'd like to see some comparison made between the nursing home managers who were arrested for ignoring their patients and the mayor/governor/local officials who did the same thing.

As much as I agree with throwing the book at those two folks (and I do) I think it a far worse breach of responsibility for the officials who had a better plan, more access to transportation and more choices in general to have made the same decision "f'em" as the "criminal" nursing home managers.

It struck me that BOTH were offered busses for their charges. Both had other options available to them and both are criminally negligent in their responses.

I wonder if "but they were underwater" will fly in the courtroom when they find those two guilty of murder.

Unfortunately, Blanco and Nagin won't be charged nor be found guilty of anything. And I'm betting they stick to the Democrat playbook and "deny, deny, deny" any wrongdoing. At least Bush stepped up and apologized for his role in all this.

I think I've already seen the start of the "Let's stop the finger-pointing and try to get the recovery going" line developing. This means that the Dems and their media allies are realizing that too many people have become aware of what a lousy job Blanco and Nagin did before-during-after Katrina hit and don't buy the claim that Bush is responsible. Reminds me of the fuss about DeLay's aides taking trips at lobbyists' expense until Dems also got caught at it - all of a sudden the Dems were calling for an end to the personal attacks and saying we all need to come up with new 'reform' laws.
