Are you ready for the Rumble in the Jungle?

With all due apologies to Ali and Foreman, tomorrow will be the true Rumble in the Jungle.

I confess to being a fan of Christopher Hitchens. No, I don't agree with everything he says. But he is truly someone you can still respect while disagreeing with him. Plus, anyone with the cojones to take on both Bill Clinton and Mother Teresa, has got to be worth a look.

That is why I am really looking forward to tomorrow night. He will be debating a true degenerate subhuman, George Galloway. Needless to say, Hitchens and I agree on the necessity of ousting a genocidal dictator with a proven history of WMD and starting wars. If you can't be there listen in. I'm also betting that C-SPAN will either have it live or taped.

Take my word for it, you won't be sorry!

Hitchens spied, Bush sighed

The ground rules had better allow for cigarettes and whiskey. We want Hitchens at his well-oiled best.

Posted by: The Colossus on September 13, 2005 01:05 PM

But Hitchens is an ATHEIST!

What will your readers think?

Posted by: Bill from INDC on September 13, 2005 01:14 PM

Vodkapundit has the link up for the webcast of this smackdown.

I'm rooting for Hitchens, of course. But he'll be facing a heavily pro-Galloway audience. Plus, Galloway doesn't really debate, he just spews abuse. No question about Hitchens' cojones, though. He knows what he's letting himself in for.

Posted by: utron on September 13, 2005 01:22 PM

Oh SHIT! Its in New York city. No CIGARETTES! AGHHHH! The fix is in!

Quick get him some nicorette gum and patches, lots of patches!

But Hitchens is an ATHEIST! What will your readers think?

Watch it, heathen-boy. :)

I don't agree with Hitchens on religion, but he's cool.

I'll think that only a snarky asshole would bother to insert something so off-topic.

Posted by: The Warden on September 13, 2005 01:43 PM

I'd like to see Ace walk into this thing in a pimp suit and a hoochie on each arm. Throw a chair for me, Ace. :)

I can't speak for the rest of Ace's readers, but as for me, I tolerate Atheists, Poly-diests, Agnostics, the ocassional Jew, and a slew of other people who's views differ from mine.

Why would that even be a question, Bill?

Posted by: Sharp as a Marble on September 13, 2005 01:49 PM

Wait, I'm an atheist. I must've missed the "no atheists need apply" sign on my way in. This sure doesn't seem like a Southern Baptist Sunday School Convention site, I must say.

I used to work for them, incidentally. Word.

But Hitchens is an ATHEIST!

I'm good.

Posted by: geoff on September 13, 2005 01:52 PM

Post is by Tanker... not Ace, you know.

Besides, I didn't think this blog had any religious tests. It's unconstitutional or something. Perhaps Ace put it in the by-laws.

Why would that even be a question, Bill?

Because on a past thread, Ace merely quoted Nietzsche and got some shit, shit that inspired him to rationalize/explain the quote in an update. Therefore, I couldn't imagine that admiring Hitchens would go over much better, what with him hating god so much.

So, despite what spurious motives Warden might ascribe to my comment, I was simply concerned for Ace. I posted out of caring.

Above is supposed to contain a strikethru, but the html don't take.

Ah. I must have missed that thread.

Very well then! Care away!

Posted by: Sharp as a Marble on September 13, 2005 03:23 PM

Goldstein does this bit much better. Probably because he has a sense of humor somewhere above that of a bitchy little girl's.

But Hitchens is an ATHEIST! What will your readers think?

Maybe you could pose that question on your site. I am sure the two or three people who read you will respond.

Posted by: Dman on September 13, 2005 03:37 PM

Dman -

That wouldn't make sense unless you added a few zeros. And besides, I'm on hiatus from blogging. So let's at least keep the assessments somewhat grounded in the inconvenient slog of reality.

Oh Warden, "bitchy little girl's?" You wound me.

Hey, btw, apropos of nothing: do people complain that you spit when you talk?

I bet they do.

Posted by: Bill from INDC on September 13, 2005 03:44 PM

Wow Bill, you ought to work that zinger into your next internet radio bit! Good stuff!

Posted by: The Warden on September 13, 2005 04:00 PM

Hitchens needs a firm slap for his attacks in print and television on Mother Theresa. What a jackass.

OTOH, I'm sure he will nail Galloway to the wall. After all, if a half-literate senator was able to make him look bad, Hitchens (assuming he's drunk enough) should fillet him.

Posted by: Shralp on September 13, 2005 04:02 PM

That wouldn't make sense unless you added a few zeros.

You got any zeros in mind besides yourself.

Posted by: Dman on September 13, 2005 04:09 PM

Hm. If Hitchens hates god, he's a very confused atheist.

Posted by: S. Weasel on September 13, 2005 04:32 PM

Goldstein does this bit much better.

Damn straight - Al Goldstein could take down Galloway HARD.

Posted by: Tony on September 13, 2005 05:42 PM

You are all going to BURN IN THE LAKE OF FIRE FOR LISTENING TO SATAN'S FAVORITE JOURNALIST, CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS. (Cue Omen soundtrack.)

Ooh, is that a plate of glass coming towar

Posted by: Andrea Harris on September 13, 2005 06:22 PM

Bill,

One of these days you have to stop patting yourself on the back for being a free-thinking irrelgious social moderate.

Dude, your shoulders are getting ripped. You can take a few days off from the definition-training to build up some more mass to go with the cuts.

Trust me, you'll be happy you did. Cuts are nice, but the judges look for bulk first and foremost.
