Hoist The Black Flag At 4PM ET

Today's guest will be blogger and screenwriter Robert Avrech, writer of A Stranger Among Us with Melanie Griffith.

He'll be talking about recently coming out as conservative in Hollywood. And also the inappropriate sexualization and vulgarization of "Young Adult" books, and his start-up publishing company, Seraphic Press, designed to combat that.

Click on the graphic and look for "Channel One" at or after 4PM ET to listen.

Another great guest for your loyal moran listeners. :)

Hm. "Loyal Moron Listeners."

Good start, but we've got to give that some pep.

"Moron Brigade"
"Ace's Moron Army"
"Ace's Undead Zombie Moron Army"

I mean, if this show continues, we're going to have to come up with a catchy name for ace's fans.

AP is reporting that Gilligan is dead.

Bob Denver, that is.

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 02:47 PM

While you're on the subject of young-smut post-Judy Bloom, be sure to ask him about "Rainbow Parties." And why they weren't around when I was in 8th grade, dammit.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

According to ace, we're either:

1. morons,
2. his Centurians, or
3. his gold diapered babies.

I love "Dobie Gillis." As did the mother of some guy who was deathrow. She named him Dobie Gillis Williams and his brother, John Boy.

Anyway, I always liked Bob Denver. He brought me a lot of laughs when I was a kid.

Work!

Dave,

That will be mentioned. He has an interesting take on it.

Ace, since you have the coolest site on the web, and since you host a cool radio show, I need to beg a favor. Could you please, please publically ask NPR to stop begging for operating funds while every decent citizen and voting illegal is donating their spare cash to help the hurricane victims. Listening to NPR on the way into work (yes, CSPAN is the first choice but I have a limited tolerance for the call ins), NPR had a segement on how incompetnent Bush's hurricane relief was, and how so many people are dying. When they cut to commercial, it was to beg for listener funding.

It's not that they 'hate' the hurricane victims, it's just that they are meaningless except as symbols to bash to administration. It's just that all the taxpayer support isn't enough for NPR right this very week, and begging for money for the victims might hurt their bottom line.

Well, if ace is going to grant favors -- can I borrow a $100 bucks?

Wow. A Shiksa Among Us is one of my favorite bad movies. I'll have to listen.

So, Mr. Averech, did you want to strangle Melanie Griffith every time you heard your dialogue squeaking out of her mouth?

Posted by: Eric J on September 6, 2005 03:22 PM

Thanks Ace. Since I'm at work I can't listen live, but as always I look forward to listening when I get home.

THRILL ME.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

Not only did I like that movie, I also screened it for a class I was teaching in sociology of religion.

Good choice of guest there, ace.

Is it me as a hick South Caroliner, or does Robert sound a lot like Woody Allen...

Am I a racist now?
