Katrina Aid Blog Burst

Instapundit's linking a lot of charities, with blogger's recommendations.

Not having any clue which is best, I'll just suggest you check the list and see which seems best to you.

I caught Arlo Guthrie's City of New Orleans on my iTunes playlist this morning and surprised myself by crying a little bit.

Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.

One of Michelle Malkins commenters mentioned that Lowes Home Improvement stores will match any in-store contributions to the American Red Cross up to $1 million. Anyone know if this is true? I couldn't confirm it from work.

Am I the only one who thinks it's inappropriate for bloggers to be asking Instapundit for links right now?

I know they're making recommendations about what charity they support, but is anybody really looking to see whether or not some 15-visitor-a-day blogger thinks you should give money to The Red Cross?

I heard the Office Depot is donating the contents of its 5 New Orleans stores, worth some 4 million dollars. I think they have to say that so they can get a deduction on what the looters took. Insurance does NOT cover looting. Just so all those liberals justifying the looting know, the merchants will not be reimbursed if it can be proved their wares survived the storm and were taken by residents. All they can do is write it off on their taxes.

$5 makes a huge difference, there's 50k newly homeless people that shouldn't have to worry about their next meal.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
