To make it a fair fight, Hitchens is going to do the debate sober.

(I kid because I love.)

Posted by: Eric J on August 30, 2005 03:23 PM

Whoa. When did Galloway get cajones? Sure, he talked tough to Congress, but then our Congress is a bunch of pussies.

Posted by: Shralp on August 30, 2005 03:27 PM

I'm going. Who's taking bets as to whether the combination of Galloway and (I'm guessing) the predominantly lefty audience will give me a brain aneurism?

Posted by: Mister Tan on August 30, 2005 03:36 PM

The only reason to go is for that uniquely British contribution to rhetoric - the Pithy Insult:

Galloway -Mister Hitchens, I hope you die a slow, loathesome death

Hitchens - That would depend on which I embraced first, your politics or your mistress...

---------------------------

Hitchens - but tomorrow morning, you will still be wrong and I shall be sober

---------------------------

Moderator - There but for the grace of God, goes God.

-------------------------

and so forth...

This MUST be live-blogged.
When the blood starts to spurt from Galloway's ears, I want a realtime narration. Makes me smile just to think about what Hitchens will do to that lying, thieving, lowbrow thug. Guaranteed castration.
In a good way.

Posted by: Radcraft on August 30, 2005 03:54 PM

Screw the live blogging, Hi-Def video!
Hitch is gonna club Galloway like a baby seal.

Posted by: Iblis on August 30, 2005 03:55 PM

I don't get it - NY state wouldn't allow Tyson to fight there, but they're allowing this?

Oh, man, this is going to be ugly. And good.

Posted by: Rocketeer on August 30, 2005 03:59 PM

Look who's hosting it. Amy Goodman and her ilk.

Posted by: Tanker on August 30, 2005 04:01 PM

Before you start celebrating, remember that (1) the majority of the audience will take whatever blather spews out of Galloway's mouth as the word of God, and (2) neither Galloway nor your typical New Yorker will listen to any reasoned argument.

Funny that some have likened this to a fight. The "judges" in the audience are already in Galloway's pocket. Some of us can and will appreciate Hitchens, but I doubt anyone at this venue will change their mind after this debate.

Posted by: Mister Tan on August 30, 2005 04:09 PM

Any chance that chairs will be flung by members of the audience? That would be cool. If any fights erupt between the leftys and Karol, my money is on Karol. (She's russian, you know.)

Posted by: on August 30, 2005 05:57 PM

Maybe c-span will cover it?

Posted by: guinsPen on August 30, 2005 07:13 PM

Hitchens is Max von Sydow, attempting to cast the evil spirit from the International Left.

Galloway's impression of Linda Blair is gonna be every bit of revolting as the original.

Posted by: lauraw on August 30, 2005 09:01 PM

So, in lieu of flowers for Mr. Galloway's arguments, to whom do I send my charitable donation?

Wait. Don't answer that. I can only imagine where the money would go...

Posted by: Squatch on August 30, 2005 10:16 PM

This one will end in tears...

Posted by: Joseph on August 30, 2005 11:21 PM

Does anybody know of a web site or web radio broadcast that will be covering this? BB

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
