Update On August 6, 2001, "A Day Of Infamy"As covered below, Elizabeth Bumiller, hard-left hardcore hack, decided to slip in an anti-Bush non-sequitor into a rather lame piece about Bush's vacations. I knew she'd done it before, but I'd forgotten when. She previously made certain to mention that CCR's Fortunate Son -- about a "Senator's son" who didn't have to go to Vietnam -- was not on Bush's iPod. Not that it was on his iPod, which would be somewhat ironic and yes, a bit newsworthy. But that it wasn't. Which is akin to noting that John Kerry's iPod did not contain the Edgar Winters' classic Frankenstein. Thanks to Slublog for the reminder. He's also ever so glad we have a professional media that doesn't stoop to the hyperpartisan snarking and inappropriately off-the-cuff politicized slams that amateur blogs do. posted by Ace at 12:38 PM
CommentsI also heard that the President doesn't beat his wife. I can't believe that the MSM is missing that point. Posted by: Steve L. on August 9, 2005 12:48 PM
Fortunate Son is a kick-ass song. The best anti-war song ever written, I'd say. And certainly a good argument against a draft-era army, where the poor can't get, or don't know how to get deferments. Doesn't apply to the modern military at all though. Posted by: Mark on August 9, 2005 01:13 PM
The song doesn't even apply to Bush. John Fogerty was a member of the California National Guard, so I doubt he would have referred to a member of the Texas Air National Guard as a draft dodger. Posted by: Axolotl on August 9, 2005 01:20 PM
Ace, please stop chilling their dissent. The public has a right to know these things. Besides, if they reported it, you can be sure that he really doesn't have it on there. "Multi-layer" such and such or whatever. Posted by: Steve on August 9, 2005 01:26 PM
"I also heard that the President doesn't beat his wife" [Peter Jennings] Really? When did he stop? [/Peter Jennings] Posted by: Megan on August 9, 2005 01:34 PM
My family celebrated PDB Day the first couple of years. But it's gotten so commercialized lately. Posted by: Paul Zrimsek on August 9, 2005 02:00 PM
Exactly, Paul. I mean, I don't know about you, but with all of the sales, I sure as Hell stayed away from the mall this weekend. Posted by: Sean M. on August 9, 2005 02:07 PM

He's been saying that Tuesday will be a decisive day. Other reports say that Trump is in the last stages of planning an action against the mullahs. (And other reports say that Tucker Carlson Simp JD Vance is attempting to get Trump to agree to "negotiations" with Iran -- for fucking what? What do we get out of saving the fucking mullahs and letting them kill and torture their own people? Apart from Tucker Carlson getting to pretend he's a Big Man Influencer and that he's worth all the Qatari money he's receiving.)
