Fantastic Four Teaser

I actually think this has been out for quite some time, and hell, you can get it through 777film.com anyhow. Still, I like it.

The coolest thing to me is that George Clooney was supposed to play Reed Richards, and he totally sucks. Instead, they saved money by casting the almost-unknown-but-about-to-break-out Ioan Gruffuld (or however you spell it), from the Horation Hornblower movies and King Arthur (playing Lancelot).

Cheaper and better than Clooney. Nice.

Yeah, I know... Jessica Alba, Jessica Alba. Just doesn't really do it for me. Neither does Alyssa Milano. No fire there or something. They both just look like a lot of pretty but bland girls I knew in high school.

Well, not "knew," per se. Saw in homeroom. Stalked a little. Maybe strangled a pet and then pinned a bloody valentine to the animal's body reading "LOVE ME OR THIS COULD BE YOU." You know-- romantic stuff, like John Cusack with the In Your Eyes tape playing.

Looks like it'll be a fun movie, but jeez, that's a godawful trailer. At least 50% of it is groan-inducing storyboards.

"5 people will be changed... 4 ever"
"1 will be bad... 4 will be... fantastic"

Sheesh.

From what I've seen in the trailers, they fucked up Dr. Doom, the best comic book villain ever, bar none.

Posted by: Moonbat_One on May 20, 2005 05:33 PM

Unlike Batman this one is filling me with loathing.
The FX dont look quite impressive enough, the voices are BAD (Well Alba and Johnny Storm work, but Doom & the Thing just don't sound right.)
What little of the plot is revealed doesnt seem impressive. You can pretty much figure out the whole plot for BB, between knowing the comics and the teasers.
FF, what happens, they fight Doom? Thats all we see.

The Bewitched trailer was better than any of the FF ones. After seeing it I actually want to see the movie.

Jessica Alba was all over it in Sin City. Best comic movie of the summer. Batman Begins will have to work hard to beat that other Frank Miller work.

ok... just saw ROTS. Oh god. I nearly got mauled by the militant fans because I was laughing hysterically throughout the film.

there is this scene where anakin stops windu from killing the emperor and then you see him kneel to the emperor and the freakin' voice of palpatine is talking all of a sudden like a gravely old man and the angle of the camera is sort of up at his face which is twisted in an agony/ecstacy pose. I swear to god it looks like a bad blow job scene in a porno. "Oooooh yesssssssss. The force is ssssstrrrronnggggggggg"

I swear to God, I was laughing so hard I was crying. I am gonna review it over on my blog this weekend. After I stop laughing. Sweet Jesus, it is worse than even "I" expected.

"Horation?"

I always spelled it ho ration as in, "All the pimps on the east side get their ho rations at this Pathmark."

Posted by: Nathan on May 20, 2005 06:49 PM

Jennifer:

There was a retard moaning throughout the whole movie when we saw it. Think I'd rather hear you.

Posted by: Moonbat_One on May 20, 2005 06:59 PM

Eh... movie looks unimpressive. That, my loathing for Jessica Alba and the fact that I was never much a FF fan will probablymean a pass.

Oh yeah, and because I'm so sick of Hollywood dreck that I find it increasinly hard to drag my ass to the theater and shell out 8 bucks for the privilege of being ripped off/condescended to.

The shot of The Thing putting his shoulder into an 18 wheeler--freakin cool.

Posted by: Beck on May 20, 2005 07:40 PM

Even if it's good, it won't be better than The Incredibles.

Posted by: someone on May 20, 2005 07:54 PM

The Narnia movie looked good, though. (!)

Maybe strangled a pet and then pinned a bloody valentine to the animal's body reading "LOVE ME OR THIS COULD BE YOU."

Nothing will ever beat the Mia Farrow valentine left for Woody Allen. Creativity soared with that as rejected psycho woman interacted with neurotic perv creep to give the world a scary cultural treasure......

FF sounds good. Agree on Clooney - why have him in any movie? Another Ben Affleck. Sure to give us 1 moderately decent movie that does not rest on their acting ability - , followed by 4 bombs, then count on producers bedazzled by their celebrity-dom to repeat the 5-film cycle.

Movies I'm looking forward to are War of the Worlds and Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe.

I would have enjoyed the Kingdom of Heaven, but Ridley Scott got PC-liberal and didn't tell the truth about Saladin or what really happened. It ruined to for me when reviewers began calling it Osama bin Ladens version of the Crusades. Pity, because moviegoers actually reward directors with Big Brass Ones like Mel Gibson with "The Passion", with big bucks.

Posted by: Cedarford on May 20, 2005 09:13 PM

I believe it was Tommy Servo who said that Clooney is not an actor, he is a head bobber.

Posted by: Dave Munger on May 21, 2005 01:52 AM

But remember, Saladin was a Kurd, and we like the Kurds. We couldn't have taken north Iraq as quickly without them.

Posted by: SGT Dan on May 21, 2005 11:20 AM

you've been spending too much time on the Shrillivan's site. alyssa milano is hot. no, she's on frickin' fire.

Posted by: jb on May 21, 2005 11:32 AM

SGT Dan -

Who is our present ally is irrelevant to a movie made about a time 900 years ago.

The Arabs were great allies in WWI. Then the Brits and French double-crossed them for the sake of imperial ambition and Zionist dollars. And more and more have grown to dislike America to the poi where we can say they are mostly our enemies today. But that wouldn't deter us from making a movie that showed them in a good light fighting the Germans and Ottomans in WWI.

That the Kurds are our allies now is irrelevant to the slaughters they inflicted on Christians as Islam conquered or killed ME Christians in 700-800 AD, at the time of the Crusades, and their enthusiastic participation the Ottoman genocide of 1.1 million Armenians.

But to make a movie that shows Arabs or Kurds (also strong believers in terrorism against Turks & Persians) in a bad light today? PC precludes that. Plus, adherents of the Religion of Peace might be so offended that they have to slaughter people in Hollywood, particularly the ubiquitous Jewish community....

I actually wrote a book--now out of print--about the overlap of dating and stalking. Most people think they're mutually exclusive, but I show how you can make fear and intimidation a sure-fire date getting technique.

It's called Teardrops on My Nutsack and you can find it sometimes if you're willing to cross the yellow crime scene tape after they haul away some damned pervert.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
