Seriously, it always cracks me up at the dissonance on the Left these days. On one hand, they think that BushCo are a bunch of inept, dunderheaded, low-IQ simpletons whom only the cretins in Jesusland would believe (or vote for); and yet on the other hand they credit Bush, Rumsfeld, and Rove with the most subtle and ingenious plots to take over This American Republic.

Well-meaning dunces or evil geniuses? Well, if you're a leftist, there's no reason that Republicans can't be both.

Why keep Doonesbury? Do we really give a shit what Duke and Boopsie might be up to?

Did we ever really care? Or did we just pretend to care, like a lot of us saps pretended to think that Woody Allen's self-indulgent "serious" films were actually worth a damn?

Unfortunately, Day By Day really is the right-wing equivalent to Doonesbury mostly due to its preachiness and lack of humor. Also, the characters look like lefty douchebags that hang out in Starbucks (or rather a local equivalent; true lefties wouldn't be caught dead in a symbol of globalization like Starbucks). So it is very hard to believe that those characters would utter the words they are made to utter.

We already know the left has no sense of humor. Let's not let them think that's true for the right too. Get over Day By Day Ace.

If it were up to me, I'd gladly stop wasting valuable comic space with the entirely unfunny sod the tired Trudeau grunts out each week. Then again, I'm somewhat conservative. Probably aren't too many newspaper editors who feel the same way.

As for Woody Allen, I'm blissfully ignorant. The only 'work' of his I know are the voice he did for the animated feature 'Antz' and the line from one of his movies where when husband and wife are asked how often they have sex, the man replies to the effect of, "Hardly ever. Three times a week." The wife says something like, "Constantly! Three time a week." Comedy gold.

I like to think that Trudeau and Woody Allen really were funnier about twenty years ago. Also, the cultural context had a lot to do with it. Times have changed, and Trudeau hasn't.

The alternative explanation would be that I used to be some kind of moron. And that's just ridiculous.
