This Just In: Air America Sucks

Why these idiot MSM rags don't pay me to write their titles for them escapes me. Keep it punchy. Keep it pithy. Keep it "real," as the "downboys" say.

Anyway... here's one obvious reason why liberal talk radio just doesn't, and never will, work, and what liberals plan to do about that:

Liberal bias in the old media. That's what birthed talk radio in the first place. People turn to it to help right the imbalance. Political scientist William Mayer, writing in the Public Interest, recently observed that liberals don't need talk radio because they've got the big three networks, most national and local daily newspapers and NPR.

Unable to prosper in the medium, liberals have taken to denouncing talk radio as a threat to democracy. Liberal political columnist Hendrik Hertzberg, writing in the New Yorker, is typically venomous. Conservative talk radio represents "vicious, untreated political sewage" and "niche entertainment for the spiritually unattractive," Hertzberg sneers.

If some liberals had their way, Congress would regulate political talk radio out of existence. Their logic is that scrapping Air America would be no loss if it also meant getting Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Bennett off the air.

To accomplish this, New York Democratic Rep. Maurice D. Hinchey has proposed reviving the Fairness Doctrine to protect "diversity of view," and John Kerry recently sent out some signals that he too thought that might be a good idea.

Let me just repeat that:

Political scientist William Mayer, writing in the Public Interest, recently observed that liberals don't need talk radio because they've got the big three networks, most national and local daily newspapers and NPR.

This man is obviously the proud holder of an MFO degree, Master of the F'n' Obvious.

But of course that's the problem. Right radio is an alternative to the MSM.

What the f' is liberal radio an "alternative" to? Reality?*

Bill Kellher, top editor for the New York Times, was discussing media bias, and noted that a lot of liberals were now emulating conservatives in writing letters of complaint that the New York Times was now "too conservative."

Usually, when media people mention this, they claim it "proves" they're actually fair and balanced, as they're "catching heat from both sides."

Kellher, to his credit, admitted his suspicion that most of these letters from liberals alleging conservative media bias were not in fact ingenuous, but an attempt to "mau-mau" (his words) the media more towards the left, or at least prevent the media from making conciliatory moves towards the center to appease conservatives.

* H/t: Thanks for Defense Guy for providing a smart-ass response to my rhetorical question.

No problem, I aim to please.

Posted by: Defense Guy on April 18, 2005 03:39 PM

BTW, Air America is leaving Sirius and will only be on XM. Transition starts in May, will be completed by June 11, IIRC.

This has some lefties in a tizzy, becasue they bought lifetime subscriptions to Sirius.

Others are pissed becasue they hate XM. Presumably because someone employed by XM might be a member of the Republican Party.

Get used to this, bloggers. As much as it has been written about, minimized, poo-pooed, and vilified, the bottom line is FNC, Limbaugh, and (R) blogging are all having an impact. And the (L)s don't like it one bit.

That, and the fact that - ultimately - objective reality cannot be ignored. The smart (L)s are slowly discovering that spinning perceptions does not alter objective reality.

I have long wondered wether a small group of mega-rich Leftists like Soros or David Geffen fund shows like this without regard for profit.

Bill Keller. *Keller*. No 'H'.

Loose shit!

Air America is the only station me and my family listens to. It's a refreshing break from an oppressive reality that third world peoples live under. The world is dying from global warming and all you people talk about is Rush Limaw.

Posted by: Akefa on April 18, 2005 06:31 PM

Akefa - well, lucky for you those ignorant gun-toting rednecks voted Bush back into office.

Afganistan was an oppresive state - NOT ANYMORE
Iraq - oppressive state - NOT ANYMORE

Bush has done more for oppressed people around the world than any liberal before (and probably after) him- I mean, other than sitting around talking about how good he is because he cares about those people...and isn't it a horrible thing they are oppressed...oh, and those rich, evil people only care about themselves, blah, blah, blah. What exactly have liberals done to change the state of those oppressed people you profess to care so much about?

Instead of sitting around holding hands or "feeling their pain", Bush kicks a** and takes names.

Haven't you read Robert Kennedy Jr.'s new book? He says Air America is taking off!!!! *snort*

This is very special time for wingers. The 10th anniversary of their boy McVeigh's bombing is coming up, and their boy Eric Rudolph was just in the news!!!

And now Eva Braun, er, Ann Coulter is on the cover of Time!

It's a good time to be winger! Cheers!

Posted by: mkultra on April 18, 2005 10:13 PM

Yeouch! Eva Braun = Colter?!? How did you ever...careful with that rapier honey, it's sharp stuff.

Posted by: Ray Midge on April 18, 2005 11:04 PM

You know what's fair? People who can actually entertain being allowed on the radio.

That, and for me to have a three day orgasm brought about slowly by Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman. Now that's fair.

I don't think that's the same Akefa that used to troll here a while back. That Akefa, while an unhinged moonbat to be sure, at least knew how to spell. His command of grammar was better too.

Then again, maybe that's just what happens when leftism eats your brain away. Hell, Ted Kennedy can barely speak anymore!

Posted by: zetetic on April 19, 2005 10:45 AM

Hey! We like William Mayer! He's one of the more honest and unbiased political scientists.

Posted by: Karol on April 19, 2005 11:05 AM

Gotta agree with ya--the libs got plenty of old media. I had to laugh recently when a couple Dim. Congressmen suggested that PBS putting conservatives on (they've allegedly been trying to give one or two a try) is UNLAWFUL! Nat Hentoff: "Free Speech For Me, But Not For Thee" (and taxpayer funded at that).

Check out Brian Anderson's "South Park Conservatives"--cool book...

In response to someone asking why the video tape doesn't show Tyler Robinson's face (PS, it does, but it's crappy video so it's blurry):

Candace Owens
@RealCandaceO

Because as I demonstrated on my show, there were MANY young men that all woke up and decided to dress in Maroon shirts and light shorts on the day of the Charlie's assassination.

The footage can be any one of these young men and in my opinion is likely multiple of them.

If Tyler Robinson's defense would like to contact me-- I'd be happy to supply them the folder of the maroon boys that I began archiving when I noticed the bizarre fashion trend.

I have thus far ID'd two of them, but will focus on IDing the rest of them when I am back on air.

I have maintained that the Feds had multiple decoy maroon boys on the ground that day. Without a clear image, they certainly cannot declare it is Tyler Robinson which is why all the Zionist influencers are hoping they can simply hypnotize the public into trusting blurry images and videos.
For such an "open and shut case" they have thus far provided ZERO evidence of anything outside of a criminal government conspiracy, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the JFK assassination.
More "fedslop" that Cavernous Nostrils is too smart to be taken in by:

Blake Neff
@BlakeSNeff

BREAKING: Lance Twiggs says that Robinson admitted to him in-person on Sept. 11 that the message he had sent the night before (presumably, messages sent while he was trying to retrieve his rifle the night of Sept 10) was true. He says Robinson told him "He wishes he hadn't done it."
Fenix Ammunition
@FenixAmmunition

Photos of the ammunition recovered from Tyler Robinson.

Remington headstamp on the case and despite the somewhat low resolution on the photo you can see the somewhat blunted nature of the projectile's tip.

This is a Remington Cor-Lokt soft point round. It's SPECIFICALLY designed to deform, slow down, and prevent an exit wound. Available at literally every single gun store and sporting goods store that sells ammunition.

In fact, 16 out of the 17 .30-06 varieties manufactured by Remington use some type of expanding, deforming, or fragmenting bullet. Only ONE of their products uses a full metal jacket projectile that could/would be expected to leave an exit wound.

Here's a clip of them sitting in my desk.

This has been the most easily debunked claim of their entire web of lies and it's really mind blowing considering this is exactly what you would choose for an assassination.

But yeah, definitely keep getting all your information from the DEI hire and the Portland pizza boy. I'm sure they know more about this than I do.

Post here, showing Tyler Robinson's ammunition, matching this guy's own box. And it is an expanding-tip hollow-point round.

Boy these Internet Experts (TM) sure do get a lot of things wrong.

Be it sight, sound, smell, or touch
There's something
Inside that we need so much
The sight of a touch, or the scent of a sound
Or the strength of an oak with roots deep in the ground
The wonder of flowers to be covered and then to burst up
Thru tarmac, to the sun again

Boy do they look like absolute dorks.
