Update to "Democracy Has Decolletage"

Remember, guys, this is all topical and political. I'm just covering world affairs when I link stuff like this.

Thanks to Ray Midge.

Seriously. Thanks.

Most of the 27DYSLEXIC VIRGINS are babes, but the 72WIVES all look like Mimi from the Drew Carey show, and have personalities to match. Can you imagine 72 Screaming Mimi's?

Posted by: 27DYSLEXIC VIRGINS on March 14, 2005 03:50 PM

Anyone know the odds of a new Lebanese civil war over all of this?

Because if they're low, and the country will stay peaceful, I think I might just have to move there.

I mean, c'mon-- these democracy chicks are HOT.

And just think-- being a Republican-style conservative is like a *radical* over there. I can probably score mucho chick-points in internet cafes with my quotations of Hobbes and Friedman.

That, and I can proudly claim I've *always* been for the Bush Doctrine.

Wow, there's such a great dirty joke residing in that "Bush Doctrine" line, I simply must resist saying it, for fear of offending Ace's lovely and erudite female readership.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

Alalalalalalalalala! We make the ugly obnoxious noise of Moslem women! You'd best shut the fuck up before we come over there and give you all clitorectomies so you'll be even more frustrated!

THE VIRGINS are babes and everyione knows it. See 3 of us at: http://news.yahoo.com/

Compare that photo to the burka clad hotties a little down the page. Now, which side of that equation do you think is gonna win out in the Middle East? Wake up, lefties. The historical dialectic of 'boobies' is pretty clear.

Posted by: Ray Midge on March 14, 2005 04:02 PM

Glad to see you keeping eveyone "informed" and milking the hot girl photos for all their worth. Wouldn't expect anything less.

Petite Dov,

I try to keep my readers abreast.

Posted by: ace on March 14, 2005 04:11 PM

I'm also keeping abreast of the Babes of Beirut:

A minor warning:

I've known a few ladies of Lebanese descent over the years, and while they do seem to lean towards the high end of the looks scale, there's also a bit of a tendency to be, well...

High-strung might be one way to put it.

"Completely insane" comes to mind at times.

Worth the effort, though. Usually.

The chicks get tank tops.

Posted by: Joe Mama on March 14, 2005 04:17 PM

These women deserve all the support and undergirding they need.

when will Playboy's "Girls of the Middle East Democracy Movement" be available on newstands?

Posted by: johnny on March 14, 2005 04:20 PM

Some actresses of Lebanese or part-Lebanese descent:

Salma Hayek

Shannon Elizabeth

Amy Yasbeck

Does anyone start to see tha pattern here?

Posted by: cirby on March 14, 2005 04:21 PM

You know who else is of Lebanese descent?

Mr. Paul Anka.

"You're on f'in notice, Bashar. You got three days to get these troops straightened out. You hear me? One week!"

Posted by: See-Dubya on March 14, 2005 04:35 PM

Democracy is hot. Lebanese eye candy all around. Some of those dudes are fierce. MMMMMMMM.......Democracy!

Posted by: stormy70 on March 14, 2005 05:55 PM

More folks of Lebanese descent:

Tony Shalhoub

Danny and Marlo Thomas

Jamie Farr

Casey Kasem

Michael Nouri

Yamila Diaz

Khrystyne Haje

Shakira

Tiffany (yes, the pop singer)

Posted by: cirby on March 14, 2005 06:25 PM

And, on the downside, Helen Thomas (yes, the virgin)...

Posted by: utron on March 14, 2005 06:44 PM

Khrystyne Haje? Lebanese? Well , if the web says so, but really, she always struck me as super-Irishy lookin. Had me fooled. Anyway, she was hot whatever she was.

Posted by: Ray Midge on March 14, 2005 06:56 PM

Okay, so, how many of you gentlemen actually noticed all the FLAGS? Except for the one painted on the cleavage, of course.

I mean, I get all sniffly over the pictorial display of patriotism -- gosh, I'm such a GIRL -- and I open the comments to find one post after another focusing on the hotties in the crowd.

*shakes head*

Ya know, there's a little more to freedom than the perk of an overhead tank top shot.

Later,
bbeck

Posted by: bbeck on March 14, 2005 06:57 PM

Ace, your puns are atrocious.

How can you make light of the fact that the orderly political process in Lebanon is being booby-trapped by pro-democracy mobs! The peace-keeping influence of the Syrian Army has been sabotaged by tit-for-tat demonstrations orchestrated by anarchists. Without the benign presence of Syrian force, the cleavage between Lebanon's many factions will inevitably lead to civil war.

Someone please stop me.

Posted by: Michael on March 14, 2005 07:16 PM

Bashar's regime is about to go tits-up, I think.

Posted by: ace on March 14, 2005 07:18 PM

Ace, I think we've milked this post for all it's worth.

I'll quit if you will.

Posted by: Michael on March 14, 2005 07:25 PM

Nah, all this tit-talk has only stiffened my resolve.

Posted by: ace on March 14, 2005 07:27 PM

I for one am not the least bit offended that so many bloggers and journalists are focusing on Lebanese cleavage at these rallies. I can't think of a better way to say, "F*** you! We'll never wear burkhas!" Sometimes beauty and righteousness of thought collide, and there's nothing wrong with painting a Lebanese flag on a beautiful bosom.

And pro-freedom Lebanese boobies are so much better to look at - even for straight women - than those scary zombies they bussed in for the pro-Syria rally. Yeeks.

Posted by: Kimberly on March 14, 2005 07:28 PM

I fear you are missing the thrust of my argument, Ace. Democracy is not a natural endowment. It takes hard work to erect the democratic institutions necessary for a lasting democracy, not mobs the street.

That being said, I quit.

Posted by: Michael on March 14, 2005 07:41 PM

Michael,
Your concerns are valid, but you can't ignore that the cups of the Lebanese are overfilled and brimming with...joy. Joy.
Set aside your deflating pessimism for the moment. As their hope wells up and heaves the straitjacket of oppression asunder, we should only stand by them and share in their happiness.
The US should offer them as much support as we can. Soft support, that will lift but not separate their newly unbound society.

Posted by: lauraw on March 14, 2005 09:28 PM

Okay, I was NOT expecting that. What a... pleasant surprise.

Really. Pleasant. Surprise...

Viva la Revolucion!

Posted by: Squatch on March 14, 2005 09:34 PM

After viewing Ace's ever growing collection of Lebanese busts, I am left to wonder...

If we end up participating in some sort of Peacekeeping Mission will the left take up the "No Blood for Silicon!" mantra?

Posted by: Jack M. on March 14, 2005 10:22 PM

I, for one, find the surge toward Lebanese freedom incredibly inspiring ... uplifting, even.

"wells up and heaves the staitjacket of oppression assunder"

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
