Senatrix Clinton: Protecting the Children, 24/7Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday sharply criticized the sex and violence in video games and other entertainment directed at children, calling the prevalence of such images an epidemic. This is a Dick-Morris-style microinitiative. She's not proposing anything really new; we already have ratings for TV and records and videogames. She just wants to homogenize the various systems. Which is sort of a good idea. A very, very small good idea. A good, but almost wholly useless idea. Yeah, there's some minor advantage to having cross-media standardization of ratings; but the ratings, different as they are, aren't exactly as obscure as a Sanskrit translation of Beowolf. TV-17 means that people under 17 are cautioned against watching this show. "E" meens for everyone, "T" means Teen, and M means "Mature" as far as videogames. And in case you weren't sure what "E" or "T" or "M" meant, it says so right under the big letter. This isn't exactly bewildering. Senatrix Clinton then discusses these sorts of warnings in the only manner in which a liberal feels safe in discussing them: as a public health threat, citing "stuides" that show that people who, say, play Half-Life 2 are more likely to start abducting railroad hobos and lobotomizing them into Roger-Miller-singin' humanoid sex-robots: At a forum held by the Kaiser Family Foundation, Mrs. Clinton cited studies indicating that children who are exposed to graphic images of violence display more aggressive behavior. Oh, have a nice tall glass of STFU juice. If you want to play the morality card, be a man and f'n' play the morality card. Don't do it via this double-talk about a "public health response." Not an outrage. Just a continuing source of annoyance. I suppose that's her master plan.
Senatrix Hillary Rodham-Clinton For President No longer a nitrous-oxide fueled bitch-machine on wheels; now just very annoying in an electorally-viable fashion. posted by Ace at 04:19 PM
CommentsWhat doe the words "a clear public health connection" mean, anyway. Something about that bugs me. Either the games are harmful to kids, or they aren't. Why is a "public health connection" supposed to make me care if I didn't all ready? Posted by: ArrMatey on March 10, 2005 05:15 PM
Hillary is just responding to the Blogtower's call for regulating deviant sexual themes out of comic books. After an Ace-o-lanche, (and with Gannon on my side)all things are possible! Posted by: Jack M. on March 10, 2005 05:16 PM
I don't like HIllary either. But how is calling her a "nitrous-oxide fueled bitch-machine" any different than the democrats calling Bush a chimp or a Nazi? I think one reason why Bush won the election is because the republicans in general refrained from the ugly vitupertive smears that the Michael Moores and their ilk constantly indulged in. We must maintain class. Posted by: fasterplease on March 10, 2005 05:18 PM
But how is calling her a "nitrous-oxide fueled bitch-machine" any different than the democrats calling Bush a chimp or a Nazi? Ohh, lighten up Francis. I think there's a "joke" exception lying around here somewhere. Posted by: ace on March 10, 2005 05:19 PM
On Cavuto today, some Spin Doctor was talking about Shrillary's attempt to "soften her image." I say there's not enough Oil of Olay in the Western Hemisphere. Posted by: Margi on March 10, 2005 05:23 PM
Did I miss something? When did " bitch" become synonymous with "Nazi"? Posted by: keggin on March 10, 2005 05:42 PM
In all seriousness, there are blogs which seek to maintain a certain level of respectability, civility, and decorum. This isn't one of those blogs. But I do insist that there's a difference between a joke using the word "bitch" and just using the words 'Nazi" and "Chimpy McMurderer" as part of one's standard, serious political vocabulary. TV-17 means that people under 17 are cautioned against watching this show While my natural instinct is to oppose anything the woman says even if it means arguing that the raitings system is simple enough for any moron to understand. However, well ... there is no TV-17 raiting. There is a TV-14 for shows that you should be at least that old to watch. There is a TV-7 for "Bigger Kid" cartoons. This one can also be appended with a "FV" for fantisy violence . There is a NC-17 movie raiting. This indicates that the movie contains more sex and/or violence that you can find in a standard movie theater, without having to sit next to Pee-Wee Herman. Games have tons of different raitings including: TEEN MATURE and ADULTS ONLY Not to mention that "Mature Audiences only" has a totally different meaning for TV, Movies and video games. Of course a congressional board can make this all better.... Posted by: Willik on March 10, 2005 09:30 PM
Again, its not as important as establishing a universal railroad gauge... Posted by: lauraw on March 10, 2005 11:24 PM
Oh, have a nice tall glass of STFU juice. If you want to play the morality card, be a man and f'n' play the morality card. She's got to have the card in her deck before she can play it. Don't do it via this double-talk about a "public health response." "Public health" is synonymous with morality in the humanist-socialist lexicon. Her God is the public/children/masses/proletariat. Posted by: Sue Dohnim on March 11, 2005 08:45 AM
Frankly, whenever I hear a politician - of ANY stripe - use the words "It's for the children" I begin to look for the hooks. Some how, some way, this proposed legislation has a hook in it to control adult behavior. We may not have seen it yet, but it's there. Posted by: rabidfox on March 11, 2005 09:04 AM
Weren't Sen. Paul Simon, AG Janet Reno, etc pushing for this stuff 12 years ago? It's unfortunate that so many people tell us we must give up liberties, not in the name of religion or morality or class - now it's 'the children' and 'our parents' and how do you argue with that? Or more properly, how do you use facts against someone who has a well-rehearsed and time-tested emotional appeal? Posted by: Ira on March 11, 2005 10:12 AM
Another center-right step in her PR campaign for the 2008 elections. Her 'feigned' concern for the 'public' is truly overwhelming. I wish for the election today so I can ignore her sooner, rather than later. Posted by: Ammobob on March 11, 2005 10:45 AM
Ace, You missed the most important part of the speech - Hillary's phoney street slang. Over time, she says, that media-driven desensitization teaches children — quote — "that it's OK to dis people because they're women or they're a different color or they're from a different place." Posted by: The Warden on March 11, 2005 01:22 PM
Hillary continued, "You want to teach the shorties, hep a brah out, not be trash-talkin dey peeps. WORD." Posted by: lauraw on March 11, 2005 05:33 PM
She's made a list and checked it twice. This was the "family values" item. She just came back from a foreign trip to non-white places. Religion might be next, maybe including some nice buddhism to reach out to the Chrisitan Values crowd without riling the Unchurched Left. After she's been through the schedule once, watchers ought to be able to triangulate her next likely move. One thing for sure: wherever loser Kerry is issue-wise, she won't be. Posted by: Lastango on March 12, 2005 01:56 PM
"One thing for sure: wherever loser Kerry is issue-wise, she won't be." Does that mean we won't see her striding around a Wisconsin cornfield with a shotgun and brand-new camouflage pantsuit? Aww shucks. Posted by: lauraw on March 13, 2005 08:13 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
