Awwwwdorable

Michele at A Small Victory tells the story of a friendship/e-romance that began on AOL and wound up in marriage.

Their first face to face (or, um, f2f, I guess) meeting:

He looked up. I knew right away it was him and my first instinct was to just stand there like an idiot and stare at him. Which I did. And his first instinct was to just stand there like an idiot and stare at me. Which he did. I’m not sure what happened next. He insists that I made the first move an practically tackled him with a bear hug and shoved my tongue down his throat. I think he made that up, because I remember him walking towards me. Either way, it wasn’t quite the romantic moment I thought it would be and frankly, it was kind of awkward. For just a few moments, though. When we regained our composure and he smiled and I smiled and he reached for my hand, I knew. He knew. Yes, we could take that intensity and urgency and those deep conversations and carry them over into the flesh.

And I'm not doing too shabbily myself, I'm happy to say. I'm proud to announce that I've developed quite the budding friendship with the tech-support staff at DirtyFootedHighSchoolHarlots.com.

A swell bunch of guys. We're thinking of joining a bowling league the minute Stinky's mom lets him off his grounding and lets him drive the station wagon again.

He made her a mix tape? I can't believe that shit still works. Maybe I should try to start photocopying poetry and saying "It reminded me of you."

It kind of figures that you're hooking up with the tech guy instead of an actual DirtyFootedHighSchoolHarlot. I hear the CleanFootedHighSchoolHarlots are much easier.

"Maybe I should try to start photocopying poetry and saying "It reminded me of you."

Hah. Eventually you'll have to walk the walk, hon. We can spot a phony a mile away.

It wouldn't be phony or a lie, just photocopied. Sort of like a courtship version of "fake but accurate".

It would work on Mary Mapes. Ewww, scary.

I met my wife in much the same way. We've been together for 6 years.

you met yuor wife on DirtyFootedHighSchoolHarlots.com?

lol

Posted by: johnny on March 8, 2005 09:22 AM

I've been with bullwinklette for nearly six years, and we met online. It's worked out much better than any of my 7 previous marriages, mainly because we haven't gotten married, or ever discussed it. That and the obvious fact that she began with extremely low expectations and so far I've worked very hard to live up to them.

To ACE "I'm not doing too shabbily myself:" slapping the old puppy over Wonkette's picture doesn't count.

So Ace, what lotion do you use? Uhh, JackM. wants to know.

So Ace, what lotion do you use?

Ben-Gay and tequilla.

Is that a Tick reference from the episode with The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
