The Guys Get Cowbell -- 3.8% Annualized Growth

Nice:

The economy grew at a solid 3.8 percent annual rate in the final quarter of 2004 - stronger than previously estimated- and an encouraging sign that the business expansion was firmly entrenched at the start of the new year.

The new reading on gross domestic product, released by the Commerce Department Friday, was better than the government's initial calculation made a month ago. That estimate showed the economy growing at a 3.1 percent pace.

...

The new fourth-quarter GDP figure also was better than the 3.5 percent growth rate that economists had forecast in advance of Friday's release by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Although economic growth in the final quarter of last year was a bit slower than the 4 percent pace measured in the third quarter, the performance was still solid.

For all of 2004, the economy expanded by 4.4 percent, the best showing in five years. This annual estimate was the same as first reported last month.

Thanks to Chickpea.

You mean that's news? I never would have known with the way the media's been playing it. I mean, it's under UFO's on ABC News' site!

This post got me to thinkin': It's the guv'mint what put these figures out, why should I believe them?

Well, that got me to thinkin' 'bout my younger days, when as a left-wing looney I wouldn't believe anything the guv'mint said.

That got me to thinkin' again: If libs don't trust anything the guv'mint says, why do they want it to become the Great Mammary that Suckles Every Hungry Mouth and Fills Every Need?

Guess it's just one of those great, unsolvable mysteries of the universe.

Dammit. ABC just took down the UFO story. They still seem to consider the strong economic growth less important than what the Scott Peterson jury was doing.

But in the really frickin' evil news department, ABC news is reporting that Michael Jackson kicked a sick woman out of her hospital room. The woman had a heart attack. The pop star? The flu.

According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the last 7 quarters of GDP growth:

4.1 - 7.4 - 4.2 - 4.5 - 3.3 - 4.0 - 3.8

...for an average of 4.5%.

Boom!

Ace,

Your cowbell clip appears to be on speed, dude. The growth wasn't THAT robust!

Ace,

Where are the bread lines?

I question the timing.

Posted by: MeTooThen on February 25, 2005 05:10 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.

Oof. Reviewers do not like Scary Movie 6. The criticism I keep hearing is that the movie mistakes a reference for an actual joke. The movie (they say) keeps Key Jangling a reference to another movie (or some other pop culture ephemera) and you expect there to be a joke but nope, the Key Jangle was the joke. Other reviewers say that the promise that "no lines will be uncrossed" is a fake-out, and that the movie is bland and inoffensively corporate.
