Ward Churchill-- Heap Big Art Plagiarist

Ohh, it keeps getting better and better.

Thanks to JimW.

Update: "What obligation does society have to fund its own sickness?" Newt on Churchill.

Also contains the Coulteresque line: "We should give him free speech by not paying him."

Wow, this is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Thank you Chuck Norris!

Ward Churchill makes Iron Eyes Cody cry.

This does not surprise me in the least. Tools do not have inspiration or creativity.

His "interpretation" of the original isn't half-bad. But he's so unrepentant, so arrogant, so ungracious. What complete lack of character.

This story really doesn't know when to stop giving. It's just a matter of time before we uncover the documents where this doofus claimed to be the Beave's father, or prime minister of England.

Yes, it just gets better and better. And the damage to CU is significant. And they stupidly tried, and I guess still are trying to determine if Churchill should be let go purely on free speech and academic freedom vs. bringing discredit to the school grounds. Something they knew when they said their inquest would be on those grounds would favor free speech/academic freedom and Churchill woulkd skate and the whole mess swept under the rug. The Prez, Betsy Hoffman, was even lecturing Gov Owen and the Legislature to "butt out" that the academics knew best and their investigation was the only one necessary.

Until we found the academics investigating him include some involved in previous promotions or "whitewashes" of other Churchill flaps.....

It just gets better and better as ACE says. Terrorist supporter, affirmative action fraud, academic fraud, artist rip-off fraud, Vietnam fraud, plagarist, habit of violently assaulting or threatening people he disagrees with.

And the academic mucky-mucks of CU at Boulder are going to ignore all that and base their decision purely on free speech /academic freedom rights??/

The man who used those rights while at CU to commit written and verbal fraud, who threatened and even physically attacked others attempting to exercise THEIR academic freedom of expression/free speech rights????

Hah, good luck!!! This guy is a gift that keeps on giving! And better yet, all the Lefties that rallied to his cause and embraced him now find he is just a 6'5" white tar-baby.

I just sent an email to the seller (on the off-chance he is unaware) and to the current high bidder.

Beware the Andy Warhol defense. It will be used, and I WILL laugh.

Anyone remember the telvision show "F Troop" with Ken Berry? Betcha Ward would have been good as one of the Indians.....

Posted by: bsp on February 25, 2005 03:57 PM

Emerson, I've never heard the "Andy Warhol Defense" before. Could you elaborate, please?

As for myself, I'm expecting the Spike Lee Defense: It's not a rip-off, it's a tribute! (In reference to the similarity in posters for his Clockers to Anatomy of a Murder.)

Posted by: LCVRWC on February 25, 2005 04:01 PM

Andy Warhol was a "recontextualizer" of images created by others. So, I guess, Churchill could claim he was making some sort of statement by appropriating an image created by someone else to illustrate the fundamental tension between the ruling class and the... excuse me, I just threw up a little in my mouth.

There's a similar line in the Dead Pool, when the director of a low-budget horror film is accused of stealing from The Exorcist: "It's not a rip-off. It's an homage."

Ward Churchill can use the Kerry defence. He was an Indian before he was not an Indian. Personally, my favorite defence was Colin Ferguson-the nut who killed people in a New York subway. He was his own Lawyer and when he questioned one of the survivors (that he had forced to lay on the floor before he shot the victim in the back) he calmly explained to the judge that this witness could add nothing to the case. He claimed that the witness CLEARLY stated that they were lying on the floor so how could they have seen if he pulled the trigger?

Churchill is shameless.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.

Oof. Reviewers do not like Scary Movie 6. The criticism I keep hearing is that the movie mistakes a reference for an actual joke. The movie (they say) keeps Key Jangling a reference to another movie (or some other pop culture ephemera) and you expect there to be a joke but nope, the Key Jangle was the joke. Other reviewers say that the promise that "no lines will be uncrossed" is a fake-out, and that the movie is bland and inoffensively corporate.
