60 Minutes Corrects Anti-Bush Story... After the Election?

I haven't watched 60 Minutes in forever, but TLowery tells me that last night they issued a correction regarding an anti-Bush story they ran right before the election:

they said one of the stories from Oregon that said troops did not have full armor for their vehicles was incorrect....that particular story was NOT TRUE!!!!! THE ONE FROM OREGON....that it has come to light that troops DID have complete armor...

Can anyone confirm this? Anyone else see it? TL says there's no transcript available yet.

So, let me get this straight. CBSNews once again runs an major anti-Bush piece right before the election, and only bothers checking the facts after the election is over.

Everyone say it with me, and not at all sarcastically:

I question the timing.

Meanwhile, TLowery also sends word that unfunny, untalented partisan tool Keith Olbermann has now gone the Full Kos and embraced the theory that the election was fixed and stolen from John Kerry.

Gee, I'm so glad that our press corps is so down-the-middle fair and objective, and not given to, say, the paranoia infecting the hard left.

Ace,

If it turns out the story was untrue, I'd certainly love to hear about it. I'm in Oregon, and our local Dem memeber of the House, DeFazio (the weasel), used that issue as one of his big campaign points. If anyone has ANYTHING on this, please keep me posted.

White House Press Secretary, Scott McClellan, was asked today why the MSM representatives (David Gregory, et al) continue to receive preferential seating (front row) when Helen Thomas was removed from her favored front row seat after several hostile and biased press conference questions?

Specifically, McClellan was asked what Helen Thomas ever did that was as bad as using forged documents to bring down the Presidency.

It was a singularly marvelous jab at the MSMers who shifted nervously in their front row seats.

Since when was the term “mandate” applied when 56 million people voted against a guy?
What is the magic criteria for the losing party and/or media to agree there has been a mandate? The Clinton administration claimed a mandate in the 1996 victory speech with ~48M voting against him, slightly *more* than the ~47M that voted for him. If the magic criteria for Clinton's mandate involved only the electoral college 379-159 outcome, can Bush not claim a mandate considering the House/Senate increases and 51% of the popular vote? Or is the only criteria for agreeing a mandate exists that your preferred candidate won?

Is that drawing supposed to be of Olbermann or Eugene Levy?

Posted by: Brian B on November 8, 2004 05:47 PM

Olbermann's so dumb he probably thinks a "mandate" is when two guys go out together.

I actually live in one of the counties he refers to and sent him a very lengthy email this morning, that moron. Thought I'd share it with you. Sorry if it's a bit winded. I was so pissed when I read his blog.

Keith,

If you knew anything about this area (Butler/Warren Co.) then you would know that Kerry couldn't have won them even if he was the only candidate on the ballot. The Cinci Enquirer and all the local networks were begging people to report problems well after to election. The "hotlines are still open", "we're here to help you", yada, yada, yada. Guess what? The "hotlines" ran cold. They want the national spotlight so bad they now have to invent problems in order to get it.

It's astonishing that the very same people that successfully voted Clinton in twice suddenly forgot how, when, and where to vote. It's very amusing to watch.

The real story of Ohio is which votes did get suppressed. With the decision to let poll watchers in, and possibly the rain, I'm sorry to say that Dick Tracy did not get to vote. I feel bad for him really. Maybe we can get him in touch with his local ACLU. And you might want to send a memo to the NAACP in Toledo that says something like "next time you might want to wait until after the election to hand out the crack cocaine, otherwise, they'll be so high they'll miss the election. Maybe crack alone wasn't such a good idea. Next time mix it up, you know, pot, heroine, PCP, and especially ecstasy, that'll get the younger voters for sure."

I mean, lets be honest, the Kerry campaign gave up on Ohio early because his people on the ground here informed them that the cheaters just couldn't pull it off. The 250,000 extra votes they were counting on just didn't materialize.

I'm not gonna hold my breath for that reporting. Instead, we're going to beat the old conspiracy theory horse to death. My favorite so far is the Diebold in the pocket of the Bushies. Yeah that's it, the guy at Diebold, he's a friend of W, he must have fixed the machines! Here, I'll give you some good ones for your show that nobody watches. What about Halliburton? Maybe those evil Halliburtonites sent in undercover operatives to the Diebold plant in Hamilton to secretly rig the machines and then sent those very machines all around the country to ensure a Bush victory. Or here's one, maybe Bush asked God to hit Florida with 4 hurricanes just before the election so he could ride in on his white horse and save the day, thus, getting a lot of votes. Or was that Halliburton that caused the hurricanes, or Cheney? Oh well either of the three would suffice, you can fill in the blank. Yet another, maybe Karl Rove, the brilliant politician that he is and with the help of Halliburton no doubt, morphed himself into OBL to produce a tape that he knew, because he is so brilliant, would scare people into voting for Bush who, otherwise, would have voted the other way. He also knew, because he is so brilliant and because Halliburton told him, that the Kerry campaign would trip over it. Damn you Rove, you're just too smart. First the Dan Rather thing and now your excellent disguises. Or maybe Halliburton, with the help of Rove because as you know is so brilliant, secretly cloned 9,000,000 extra republicans just for the sole purpose of voting on election day. They then outsourced the job of hiding the cloned republicans until the next election to the war lords of Tora Bora and in exchange for their loyalty to help fix the election the war lords walk away with OBL while our military gives a wink and a nod. And who paid for this? None other than Halliburton/Cheney et.al., what a surprise.

Damn, I should have been a reporter. I'd be famous for my uncanny ability to spot a good conspiracy theory. I mean, we all know that when all else fails just say the words Halliburton, Rove, Cheney, and Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton.

Please keep it up, it's very entertaining.

To date no response from Moron. No surprise

How the hell did Olberman go from being a guy who did a sports version of 'America's Funniest Home Videos' to someone who is supposed to be taken seriously as a journalist? This guy's title on the local LA station could have been 'Sports Bozo.'

Ace-

I saw it. They retracted. Not 100% retraction. They did basically destroy their story tho. The thrust of the original was that unarmored Hummers were getting blown up & troops were making improvised armor.

The centerpiece of the story was 2 hummers that got blown up this way, one killing a few and leaving one guy maimed, and one killing another 2 guys.

Turns out the second one was fully armored. That was the retraction. In other words, despite what 60 Min inferred, it's dangerous in a combat zone and it's not so easy to just wave your hands and protect people. They made it sound like someone could just make all these vehicles safe if only they cared about the troops.

Well, a fully armored one got hit the same way as an unarmored one, and sadly, the result was the same.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
