Highest Turnout in 36 Years

And therefore the biggest turnout of my lifetime. So says Newt Gingrich.

I really want to win this, for so many reasons I can't even list. But one of them-- a minor one -- is to finally rubbish the liberals' belief that there is an army of liberal voters out there who really, really want to elect liberal candidates to the presidency.

I'm tellin you, when this goes down, it's primal scream time. As lame as that sounds, it's gonna feel SOOOO damn satisfying - the question is who's gonna drive that last coffin nail into the MSM casket?

I've found my moment of Zen in this whole mess, and here it is:

It took four years of Carter to make Reagan possible. And I can wait, if I have to.

But my bones say it Texas BBQ time tomorrow.
I hope he sends Terry McAwful a dozen yellow roses when this is all over.

Just got back from voting in Hamilton County, Ohio. Did a straight ticket Republican vote, then handed my ballot to the four antique women chatting at the table. Nobody seemed especially concerned about seeing my photo identification or voter registration card or anything. I was in and out in less than five minutes, but I imagine it'll really back up after 5.

Ace, I was born in '68. You?

I think it's still too early to have any confidence (even though I posted a supremely confident prediction yesterday). If we win this thing it'll be despite the best efforts of the MSM, up to and including the early leaks of raw exit polling data intended to demoralize optimistic Bush voters. (Heck, if Bush has already lost Ohio, why bother voting in NM, or HI, or OR, or any of the other places he was competitive as recently as a couple of days ago??)

On to more important polls: have you chosen between Bev Crusher, Deanna Troi, Tasha Yar, Guinan, and Lwaxana Troi in this week's SF Babes poll yet? While you're there, check out the new Gallery of previous winners.

Ace, I was born in '68. You?

Didn't your mother tell you it's rude to ask that of a blogger?

Posted by: ace on November 2, 2004 05:04 PM

Guinan? GUINAN?? Aye caramba.

I'll take Counselor Cleavage, thankyouverymuch.

Posted by: Bud Tugley on November 2, 2004 05:07 PM

In reminding yourself to chill you have also helped to remind me to do so. We can do this! America can't be as dumb as Michael Moore thinks!

Posted by: Jade on November 2, 2004 05:09 PM

"America can't be as dumb as Michael Moore..."

I totally agree.

Posted by: zetetic on November 2, 2004 05:15 PM

I thought it was only rude to ask chicks - not bloggers - their age. Your allusion to this being the highest turnout in 36 years, and therefore your lifetime (along with your knowledge of D&D, Rush music and other 80s pop culture), made me wonder whether you were also 36. So who is it? Troi, Crusher, Yar?? (You wouldn't believe the pics you find on Google for Marina Sirtis, btw).

Posted by: JohnL on November 2, 2004 05:32 PM

I wouldn't mind having the URL which led to such pictures.

Posted by: ace on November 2, 2004 05:38 PM

I would, but apparently the term "google dot com" is questionable content.

"It took four years of Carter to make Reagan possible." Words of great wisdom, so let's not despair even if the worst happens, for there will be much work to do, no matter what happens.

Yes, But you cannot undo supreme court nominations. This is really why I voted for GWB. I can't stand the thought of ultra-liberal judges sitting on the highest court in the US. Even, perish the thought, Justice Clinton.

Lost Seventies Mystery Click: The Darkest Song Ever Recorded?
I think Professor of Rock (on YouTube) claimed this song was so upsetting that people used to pull over to the side of the road when it came on the radio. It's about a fatal plane crash, but obviously it suggests a fatal car crash too, which could wig out a driver.
It's like one of those nasty 70s anti-war body horror movies. Not for the squeamish. I'm not even going to post the lyrics because they're upsetting too.

I'm frankly surprised the title is 107 Days. I would have thought it would be:

Days Are Important: The Amount of Days Was a Number and That Number Was 100 Plus 7 Which is 107. 107. One Hundred and Seven. It's a Memoir and Memoirs are About Remembering Things Because Remembering Things is Good. Not Bad. Good. Memoir. A Memoir. Like a Reservoir But With Memory. We Have to Let it Flow. We Have to Let It Flow Into the Reservoir of Our Mind and Our Heart. Our Heart Which is the Beating Heart of Not Just Our Blood, But Our Progress. And Our People. And Democracy. The End.

Soft weak poop from the early 80s Mystery Click
I never liked this song, but it is memorable. In a weak, annoying way.
The kid's in shock up and down the block
The folks are home playing beat the clock
Down at the golden cup
They set the young ones up
Under the neon light
Selling day for night
It's alright

Former CIA operative John Kiriakou talks with Matt Taibbi about the Brennan/Comey Coup
Both guys are old liberals, maybe even of the far-left variety, and both are appalled by the Democrat/Deep State coup against the US. Kiriakou says that CIA officers were legally obligated to report to the Inspector General John Brennan's repeated overruling of actual intelligence to encode his partisan conspiracy theories into US intel product, but of course they didn't.
