« Big Kerry Hit Tomorrow? | Main | The Story: Kerry's Claims of Meeting UNSC Members Denied »

The Coming Hit on Kerry

INDC is apparently in the know, and hints as much in the comments (although he won't give it up).

From the Unpopulist, who compiles speculation from around the blogosphere.

And Bill from INDC isn't the only one in the know. RedState will be featuring the story's author, guest-blogging through the week. He also says it will be breaking on Drudge tonight.

Now, the question: how do I get to be in the know? What's a guy have to do to demonstrate his pro-Bush quals? Go down on the President?

I'm not saying it's necessarily off the table. I mean, I'm a big fan. I just want a ballpark of what's expected of me, precisely.

Geeze. Now I'm starting to think this story might be worth keeping an eye on. I guess I'll just have to put off watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Desperate Housewives to follow it.

Damnit.

Well, at least The O.C. isn't on Sundays.*

*No, I don't watch these shows. Well, okay, Extreme Makeover, a little. But that involves demolition and construction, so I think I'm on safe ground there.

Update: Okay, now I'm kinda-sorta in the know. I can't say what the story is about, but I can say, I think how big it is. The answer: so-so big. It requires Kerry to answer questions, but it's not going to blow him out of the water.

It's damaging, but not even close to decimating. So don't get your hopes up too high.

I figured it would be something to hold the news for a few days but nothing huge. If they had something HUGE they would hold it till thursday. We all know Drudge would already have anything HUGE up. He likes his siren.

I will welcome anything to see Jenny Backus on the hotseat all bug eyed and screaming. Plus Lawrence O'Donnell is about to explode anyway, might push him over the edge.

Kos is breaking the story...

If you believe what Kos has to say.

how do I get to be in the know?

Break the story. Or get it started.

If Clinton were still in office, you might even have a career in Washington with a 'reasonable'attitude like that.

Backus' bug eyes and her inctedibly annoying manner make me change the channel. Bleh. Ick.

Commissar says that it's gonna be a story about Kerry NOT meeting with UN reps before the Iraq war...(where he said in debates that he met with UN diploweenies who told him deal on resolution was possible).

Sheesh...all Kerry has to do is say "those weren't the diploweenies I was talking about".

WizbaNG HSA THE STORY!

Posted by: superhawk on October 24, 2004 11:09 PM

I think it will be a distraction, nothing more. I think people are totally overloaded with this election and have tuned out. I think the undecided folks are a freakin myth or will stay home.

THis is about the vote early vote often crowd this election. So let the games begin.

The DUI story wasn't huge on its face, but...timing. If it sucks time away from Kerry's agenda then it hurts him. Degree of hurt is debatable. Eight days to go, people.

And Oh Jesus am I a Nervous Nellie right now. I know that Bush is likely to win, but I want it in the bank.

Posted by: David Gillies on October 24, 2004 11:18 PM

Color me seriously underwhelmed...that Kerry is an opportunist and will say nearly anything is, at this point, factored into people's perceptions of him.

Another log on the fire won't make the flame burn any brighter here...

Can we center-right blogs all promise to not do this Josh Marshal-esque "big story coming" hype in the future? Yeesh.

Well, in Team America, in order to get Spottswoode's trust, Gary had to go down on him.

Lame. I was hoping for something MUCH better.

Posted by: CL on October 24, 2004 11:52 PM

how exactly is this damaging?

Posted by: on October 24, 2004 11:58 PM

I just saw the article.

While it starts with the UN meeting as the basis for the article... the real message is Kerry is not truthful on just about every front. This from a man that proclaims that truthfulness is what would be the hallmark of his presidency and he is constantly stating that President Bush is not being truthful.

The real message of this article is the absolute crass hypocrisy and pathological lying of John Kerry. It speaks to the lack of character and trustworthiness of a man who seeks the highest office in our land.

For me, this is not new news... but, I'm not sure about others just tuning into the election.

Ace--

Don't let ol' Nixon know that you weren't watching the World Series. He's liable to impeach you.

Cheers,
Dave

P.S. The story seems to be a yawner. Hell, *I* already know Kerry is an exagerrationist, from 20 years of proof. Yet that hasn't convinced anyone else out there, or at least the people who *need* convincing.

Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on October 25, 2004 12:14 AM

The damaging aspect of it (such as it is) is in the video of Kerry making the claim at the second presidential debate--it's not some senate record--it's not some 30 yr old piece of oratory--nope, it's Kerry making his case to the American public in the most direct way possible.

That is really the only way it's damaging since a 'net can simply run the video with the claim being made and follow it up with "no he didn'."

[/optimism]

Its OUT! Go to http://www.washtimes.com/national/20041024-110609-9428r.htm

I don't know how big this is. So so.

Posted by: Iblis on October 25, 2004 12:44 AM

Ummm, isn't this rather like the time that he claims he was present at the signing of the Gulf War I peace treaty?

The sad part is that this is no surprise to those that are center-right, and therefore a non-event.

The really sad part is that those on the left don't care they are backing a guy who is a serial liar as opposed to a run-of-the-mill political distortionist.

The ultra-sad part is that the MSM won't care about this enough to even air it. (come on, it's not Bush lying, it's Kerry, therefore not newsworthy)
