Rudy Didn't Fail: Guiliani Speech Sways More Voters than McCain or ArnoldI don't know when this poll was taken. Is it possible that Zell Miller, Cheney, and Bush himself had no effect? Or did the NY Post suppress those numbers because a low showing for Bush would embarass him? Or did they only ask about those three men-- and if so, why limit the field? At any rate, good for Rudy. More Good Polling for Rudy: 50% of all registered voters want Rudy to run for President. But he can't actually win the nomination, you say? 65% of Republicans say they want him to run, too. posted by Ace at 03:45 AM
Comments"But [Guiliani] can't actually win the nomination, you say? 65% of Republicans say they want him to run, too." Before the 2000 primaries, what percentage of Republicans wanted McCain to run? My hunch is the number was over 90%. Doesn't mean a whole lot until you have to campaign on specific issues, and a pro-abortion rights, pro-gay marriage candidate has no chance unless the rest of the field is shockingly weak. I hate making predictions that have no basis in fact, and it IS fairly wishful thinking, BUT... Rudy said the other day about Kerry (paraphrased): "He's got to stick to a position. For instance, I'm pro-choice, and if I were going to change that position, I'd better have a REAL GOOD reason for it." Well, unlike Kerry, snuggling deep inside the pro-abort party, and unlike some other "pro-choice" politicians in the Republican Party, Rudy is perfectly poised to make just such a change. All he has to do is say: "I've just been counselled by my bishop, Edward Cardinal Egan, that my political position on abortion is in danger of excommunicating me from my church. Upon deep reflection and prayer..." POOF! Rudy will be pro-life sometime within the next two years, AND he'll take 80% of the Catholic vote in 2008. TBR: Wishful thinking it is. I wish Rudy would come out and say that, cause then he'd be my ideal candidate. But first, he wouldn't do it. Second, if he did we'd get loads of hysterics about the 'violation of Church and state'. Third, if he really wanted to get out of danger of excommunication, I think he'd have to get his marriages in order as well. You can hope, I can hope, but I don't think its going to happen. We all love Rudy though.... Posted by: Rob on September 6, 2004 10:38 AM
Giuliani's speech was the best of the convention, IMO. Posted by: Moonbat_One on September 6, 2004 01:44 PM
I thought Rudy's speech was great too. My purpose in stopping by is to let you know there is a swifties rally in DC 9/12/04 Posted by: Jane on September 6, 2004 09:48 PM
As a native New Yorker and a rabid Giuliani booster, I feel it is my responsibility to clue you in to some foibles non-New Yorkers might find unattractive. The guy's a bit of a glory hound. Big time. Giuliani claims credit at every opportunity, even at moments when it might seem like a good idea for him to let his subordinates share in the limelight. Bill Bratton, the commish who revolutionized crime-fighting in NYC, quit for precisely this reason. Posted by: Zhang Fei on September 7, 2004 03:32 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
