« Kerry: I Question the "Timing" of Bush's Troop Moves | Main | If You're Such a Genius, How Come You Posted Your Whoring on a Public Blog? »
August 16, 2004

If Your Resume's So Great, Why You Keep Makin' Shit Up All the Time?

I didn't see this segment, so I can't vouch for this post's accuracy at this time.

That said, it smells accurate.

John Kerry's campaign just claimed (in response to Bush's you-missed-Intelligence-Committee-votes charge) that he had been Vice Chair of that committee.

Trouble is, he wasn't (at least accordign to this post). BOB KerrEy, not John Kerry, was Vice Chairmain. Kerry never was.

I mean, he never was, as far as we know. Maybe he served as Double-Secret Vice Chairman during one of his numerous Cambodia Incursions.

Update: RedState.org does some Nexusing and reports.

It appears that one newspaper article in 1996 did refer to John Kerry as the Vice Chairman of the committee. But the actual records indicate that Bob Kerrey was the Vice Chair at the time. The newspaper article seems to be in error, although RedState guesses that it's possible that John Kerry might have served briefly in this position on an interim basis (i.e., when Bob Kerrey was away from Congress for whatever reason).

STATUS: Undetermined.

Oh. My. God.

How on earth can a candidate for president have hired such a bunch of amateurs? Or are they so rattled they can't think and say, "Kerry, Kerrey...must be a typo"?

You're right, it smells right.

Bob Kerrey WAS THE SECRET AGENT FERRIED INTO CAMBODIA BY JOHN KERRY!!

So the confusion is only natural.

Oh, I hope I hope I hope this meme spreads. I've always wanted to spread a 'net rumor.

Posted by: ccwbass on August 16, 2004 06:56 PM

I kid about the Cambodia thing, but I've got to say I suspect that's one of the few parts of his story that is actually true.

Obviously, his timing is off (he distorted for, ahem, "dramatic purposes"), but I figure that kind of thing was fairly common, and I really can't imagine him just completely making it up.

OTOH, I think all the rest of the SwiftVets charges are true. I think he falsified reports and used political/familial/social-status power to get out of Nam early.

And I fear that we're focusing on the wrong thing, and then Kerry will prove that this part (and only this part) of his Vietnam Fish Tale is true, and the SwiftVets' entire book will be discredited.

This is just as good as the "Mekong river is the boundary between Cambodia and Vietnam, so Kerry could have been right between the two countries" blunder. Any idiot with a map and thirty seconds can discover where the Mekong river goes, unless the idiot doesn't know where Vietnam is. Considering that amazing stupidity of the Kerry spin, I must conclude that Kerry staffers don't know where Vietnam is.

Same with this one. Any idiot with Google and a working knowledge of the English language can readily determine that John Kerry is not Bob Kerry. If Kerry's so smart, why does he surround himself with such morons?

Posted by: Sobek on August 16, 2004 07:14 PM

Karol, guest blogging at Dean Esmay, has another great example of Kerry just making crap up.

Skull&Bones, 2.0 average, smoked a lot of dope, took a job nobody wanted(only trick to that in MA is being a dem), never went or now goes to work, what else could we really expect? I find it difficult to believe half the people in this nation want to put him in the WH. Wait, averagedopesmokingnowork, does sound a little appealing now doesn't it? This nation took it's cue from a golf cheat for 8 years. Wait, cheatatgolfIwinyoulose, a pencil with an eraser to go with that scorecard, PLEASE. He had to use Viet Nam(no longer Republic of) as the linch pin for this election, apparently his duties as a Senator included being somewhere other than the Capital Building or his office(unless you wanted to see his Kodak moments) enjoying the masses addressing him as Senator Kerry. The ghost of the Senate, unless the voting was about abortion, gun grabbing, gutting the military or castrating the CIA. So lets give him Viet Nam, all of it, from the lucky hat to the being under fire from the Khmer Rouge and start looking at him as an elected guv'mint official. My guess, more laughs there.

I just clicked on the link to the Kerry site from my own blog, and the offending information is still there. What's up with that? They have to know they've been nailed for this by now....

Skull&Bones, 2.0 average Legacy student, Driving under the influence, Snorted Coke, MIA National Guardsmen, vacationing for large amount of time, half the people didnt support him in 2000 election to put him in the WH, stole election, Cant use Vietnam as a "linch pin" since he didnt serve, cant pronounce certain words, doesnt support valuable research because of religious restrictions, thinks god is on his side, urges terrorist to "bring it on", assault weapon handing out, deficit spending, social services clipping, generational debt handing, roves pet...i wish those National Guard records hadnt deteriorated so they can prove he went AWOL, greatest laughs....

I believe the word is canard. Soon to be petard for Senator Kerry. And please brush up on your punctuation, especially if you are on the offensive. The particular deficencies of supporters are a direct reflection on the candidate himself. Thanking you in advance for your attention to this matter.

I believe that the Kerrey/Kerry matter is now official. Factcheck.org has weighed in:

"Bush Nails Kerry's Poor Attendance at Intelligence Committee Hearings

Bush says Kerry missed 76% of public hearings. He could have missed even more.

08.17.2004

Summary

A Bush-Cheney '04 ad released Aug. 13 accuses Kerry of being absent for 76% of the Senate Intelligence Committee's public hearings during the time he served there. The Kerry campaign calls the ad "misleading," so we checked, and Bush is right.

Official records show Kerry not present for at least 76% of public hearings held during his eight years on the panel, and possibly 78% (the record of one hearing is ambiguous).

Kerry points out that most meetings of the Intelligence Committee are closed and attendance records of those meetings aren't public, hinting that his attendance might have been better at the non-public proceedings. But Kerry could ask that his attendance records be made public, and hasn't.

Aides also claimed repeatedly that Kerry had been vice chairman of the intelligence committee, but that was Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, not John Kerry."

Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

🚨ED MILIBAND [a Minister in Starmer's government] SAYS KEIR STARMER WILL RESIGN AS PRIME MINISTER

He has reportedly reassured Labour MP's that Starmer will be resigning following the disastrous results tonight

It's over
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.

Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg
@zatzi
If this continues Labour loses 2,148 seats tonight.

That is much worse than the worst case predictions I’ve seen.

Cataclysmic

Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot
@TheBritLad

🚨 BREAKING: Labour have lost 80% of all seats contested as of 2:25 AM.<
br> If this continues, Keir Starmer will be out of office next week.

Reform has surged and projected to pick up between 1700-2100 seats.

Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing.
Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult.
Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending.

@DPJHodges

Reform are basically wiping Labour out in the North. It's not a defeat. It's not even a rout. Labour are simply ceasing to exist.

Nick Lowles
@lowles_nick

Tonight’s results are calamitous for Labour. Not just for Keir Starmer's leadership, but for the very future of the party
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98.
Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years.
Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour
Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45
Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%.
I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:

I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
