New Michael Moore Documentary

... called I Am Not an Asshole.

It's on the MoveOnPlease.Org website, but I didn't notice it. Veruka Salt points it out.

Looks like you're using the word "documentary" in a fairly, umm, unique manner.

Posted by: Sobek on August 12, 2004 01:22 PM

Hmm... Looks like Mikey the Hutt is lying yet again...

Seriously, though, how'd you like to look out your front window and see THAT staring back at you? Ugh!

Posted by: zetetic on August 12, 2004 02:31 PM

Michael Moore treated the president with respect and dignity in his factual documentary. The least you people could do is to return the favor. Your mothers could have done a lot better.

Posted by: Akefa on August 12, 2004 04:35 PM

Akefa, even Michael Moore no longer calls Fahrenheit 9/11 a documentary. His official position now is that it was satire.

Posted by: Sobek on August 12, 2004 04:38 PM

And here is just one example where Moore's "factual documentary" wasn't so factual after all. He changed a newspaper clipping to fit his story - why do you suppose that was?

Posted by: Sobek on August 12, 2004 04:41 PM

Michael Moore kills dogs
I have proof! Well, not really...
It's satire, man! Laugh!

Glad to see that Veruka Salt has her own blog. For some reason I can't open the comments section. I have the same problem with No Pasaran.

Anybody out there have any idea why?

Posted by: lauraw on August 12, 2004 04:49 PM

I'm not certain, LauraW, but I suspect it's because George W. Bush lied.

Posted by: Sobek on August 12, 2004 04:51 PM

Thus spake the Bat of the Moon:

"Michael Moore treated the president with respect and dignity in his factual documentary."

I don't know where to begin pointing out the fallacies (or perhaps phallusies?) in that sentence.

Posted by: zetetic on August 12, 2004 05:13 PM

Akefa, moonbat,
Drank Mikey the Hutt's Kool-Aid
And now he's braindead.

Blog world is the coolest world ever. Wish I could live here. You guys are awesome.

Posted by: lauraw on August 12, 2004 05:28 PM

I can't help but think of the Victoria Jackson song "I am not a Bimbo!" From SNL when I see that title.

Posted by: Brian B on August 12, 2004 07:08 PM

"Michael Moore treated the president with respect and dignity..."

Not that I can recall.

"...in his factual documentary."

BWAHAHAHAHA! Don't you ever insult my intelligence so grievously again, you lying sack of excrement.

"The least you people could do is to return the favor. Your mothers could have done a lot better."

My mother would like to take a hickory switch to Mickey Moron for lowering the level of discourse in this country so far. Knowing her, she would, too, if she thought he wouldn't like it so much.

Once again, you've been owned in a conservative blog comment section. How many times to go before you tuck your yellow dog tail between your legs and slink back to Democratic Underground? Just give us a number so we can get it over with, okay? Your stench is becoming unbearable.

Posted by: Mr. Bowen on August 12, 2004 10:02 PM

Akefa:

Based on your supposed definition of dignity and respect, you'd likely appreciate this:

"Fuck off."

Now, since you can't be serious, really, I'd instead simply suggest that your trolling skills might be better put to use at DU, or Jim McGreevey's campaign site. Perhaps you'll even get lucky.

Posted by: Patton on August 13, 2004 03:57 AM

I'd instead simply suggest that your trolling skills might be better put to use at DU, or Jim McGreevey's campaign site.

Actually, he'd probably be more suited to Slashdot. That place is nothing but trolls now.

Posted by: Smack on August 13, 2004 07:53 AM

Isn't this whole McGreevy thing suspiciously timed. It is deflecting us from the real story of Bush/Hitler or Kerry/Cambodia depending on ones mental state. (sarcasm)

Posted by: James on August 13, 2004 08:59 AM

WTH? Has Ace run off to spend his ill-gotten pledge drive gains, a la Sully?

Posted by: someone on August 16, 2004 04:27 AM

...or did Michael Moore swallow him whole?

Posted by: Sailor Kenshin on August 16, 2004 09:52 AM

Unfortunately, not that much has happened in the last few days. The SwiftVets thing continues, but it's pretty much the same stuff over and over. John Kerry is in hiding. We're laying siege to the shrine but we haven't gone in yet.

Or maybe he just needed some time off.

Posted by: Smack on August 16, 2004 10:31 AM

Has anyone noticed that Andrew Sullivan and Ace of Spades have the same initials?

Or, could it be that Johnny Coldcuts grew tired of the constant death threats and decided to take matters into his own bread slices?

Posted by: Gaylord Ravenal on August 16, 2004 10:55 AM

A perfect August

I kid you, of course
Ace doesn't swing my way (sigh)
and he blogs harder

Posted by: Sully on August 16, 2004 11:47 AM

I watched F911 six times and loved it more each time! Nobody with brains can argue with the facts. He told it like it is, and you crybabies can't take that. No problem. Go back in your cribs and play with your rattles until after the election. Don't bother to vote. The next president will make everything okay again.

Posted by: Akefa on August 16, 2004 12:48 PM

Did somebody hear a fly buzzing around?

Posted by: Smack on August 16, 2004 12:54 PM

Akefa, I provided you with a link to one incontroverbitle example of Michael Moore telling a lie (i.e. the opposite of "the facts"). You chose not to address that point. Why is that?

Posted by: Sobek on August 16, 2004 12:55 PM

Because he's a dipshit.

Posted by: Rick on August 16, 2004 01:16 PM

Have you ever heard of ad huminum arguments? You just used one, D.S. Rick.
Try refuting the facts for a change. Michael Moore is a hero to america, a man willing to risk his like to expose injustice.

Posted by: Akefa on August 16, 2004 01:22 PM

eh, don't feed it.

Posted by: lauraw on August 16, 2004 01:22 PM

"Try refuting the facts for a change."

I'm still waiting.

Posted by: Sobek on August 16, 2004 01:28 PM

Yep, don't feed the trolls. In fact, I think it'd be cool to enact a policy where we don't respond to anybody coming here to make snide comments. I like to make offhand comments about them, but never respond directly to them. It tickles my fancy because it just makes them so gloriously angry.

BTW, fun fact for the day: did everybody here know that ad hominem is Latin for "to the man" and ad hominum? Surprising but true!

Posted by: Smack on August 16, 2004 03:53 PM

Akefa, moonbat,
Has a strange idea of what

Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. -- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source"
Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

🚨ED MILIBAND [a Minister in Starmer's government] SAYS KEIR STARMER WILL RESIGN AS PRIME MINISTER

He has reportedly reassured Labour MP's that Starmer will be resigning following the disastrous results tonight

It's over
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.

Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg
@zatzi
If this continues Labour loses 2,148 seats tonight.

That is much worse than the worst case predictions I’ve seen.

Cataclysmic

Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot
@TheBritLad

🚨 BREAKING: Labour have lost 80% of all seats contested as of 2:25 AM.<
br> If this continues, Keir Starmer will be out of office next week.

Reform has surged and projected to pick up between 1700-2100 seats.

Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing.
Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult.
Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending.
(((Dan Hodges)))
@DPJHodges

Reform are basically wiping Labour out in the North. It's not a defeat. It's not even a rout. Labour are simply ceasing to exist.

Nick Lowles
@lowles_nick

Tonight’s results are calamitous for Labour. Not just for Keir Starmer's leadership, but for the very future of the party
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98.
Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years.
Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour
Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45
Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%.
I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
spidermanthreatormenace.jpg

That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time.
I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
