International Red Cross Clarifies That It Was "High" When It Demanded Saddam's Release

Ace of Spades HQ gets results!:

"Any prisoner of war suspected of having committed any type of crime can be charged and tried," said Antonella Notari, chief spokeswoman of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Notari said she wanted to make clear the neutral ICRC has no desire to see the release of any POWs, including Saddam, who are suspected of criminal acts.

"Nobody in the ICRC is calling for the release of Saddam Hussein. Absolutely not," Notari told The Associated Press from the Geneva headquarters of the humanitarian agency, which serves as a watchdog to ensure adherence to the Geneva Conventions on the conduct of warfare.

I'm not sure this affects the fundamental brief against this organization as being anti-Jew, anti-American, and devoutly leftist, though.

Congratuations, Ace, I didn't realize you had that kind of impact. Now that I know how widely-read your blog is, I promise to reduce the number of my comments that have to do with NAMBLA members shanking 4-year-old boys. I'll use the more PC phrase, "sexual healing."

Actually, what this "clarification" proves is that the ICRC is still a pompously political leftist organization, but without either the courage of its convictions or control of its quango pie-hole.

Fuck 'em, right along with all other NGOs that think I give a shit about their opinions - I'll still find other destinations for charitable giving.

I knew Doumani was talking out her ass yesterday. It had the sharp ring of ass speech.

Gawd! Now Sully's on about how most conservatives are "okay with extra-legal torture."

Please. Is there some musical about strawmen or something?

No, most conservatives are not okay with it. But Sullivan is incapable of making the distinction between the official policies and what those dumbass hillbillies did.

Posted by: blaster on June 14, 2004 04:43 PM

Not to worry, Sully's just setting everything up ahead of time so he can endorse Kerry by the summer.

You know, more in sadness than in anger...

Ace and Allah have been all over this.

From Archimedes: Democrats are really now arguing that it's time to open the Big Tent to Nazis:
At Insty:

How it's going: How 'Big Tent' Are Democrats Willing to Go? Many in the party say it needs a wider range of candidates to run. Does that include people with Nazi tattoos?

Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico said, "Graham has made a lot of mistakes in his life. He's had a very long journey to the place where he is today, but he's owned those mistakes, owned up to them, and he's evolved." Khanna called the tattoo "horrendous," but said: "Do we want our political governing class to be like the classmates I had at Yale Law School, some of them who dreamed of being president of the United States from the age of twelve?" He continued, "Or do we want normal people also having a chance at these offices?"

--The Atlantic, today. Have they SEEN the people who vote for them?

Black Conservative Perspective says there's a "Woke Civil War" going on in the left over this Nazi, with Race Marxists -- mostly black -- absolutely determined to cancel him, while the straight-up Communists -- mostly white rich-bitch nepo babies -- are fighting like hell for him. As many have noted: Communists are always willing to make a tactical alliance with Nazis. (And, of course, Communists are just totalitarian socialists with an internationalist foreign policy, while Nazis are totalitarian socialists with a nationalist foreign policy. They're two anti-human peas in a pod.)
The white communists are fighting hard for this guy because he is an open, avowed communist, and they think his completely-fake "normal blue-collar guy" persona can be used to do what they cannot do, sell communism to the working class.
