16-Year-Old Sneaks Off To Iraq For "Immersion Journalism"

Kid's got balls. Two of them, right below his penis. (Where?)

But really, I suspect he's one of Dick Cheney's myriad bastards. The conclusion of his high school essay on his dangerous journey?

"There is a struggle in Iraq between good and evil.... Those terrorists are not human, but pure evil."

In any decent world, that would be a kick-ass sort of thing to put on your college application, no?

Unfortunately, due to his lack of "nuance" or understanding of "root causes," it's probably going to be held against him.

Balls, gumption, courage- straight 18's.

Brains- About a 6.

This kid may be an ignorant son of a bitch, but he's got guts. And guts is enough.

"Youve got balls, kid. I like balls." (overheard at recent Al Qaeda meeting in Baghdad)

Posted by: Bugaha on December 29, 2005 10:13 PM

Ah, the innocent idealism of American youth.

At least his story can raise support for our campaign in Iraq. The good against the evil! Hooah!

"There is a struggle in Iraq between good and evil.... Those terrorists are not human, but pure evil."

Yes, exactly! That's what I've been saying! The good minutemen against the evil terrorist occupiers!

I support the troops, by the way.

See, it is kids like this that make me feel good about the future of this country.

I like your style, kid.

Posted by: fugazi on December 30, 2005 12:31 AM

Terrorists sure are evil.

If Tens of thousands of Iraqis have to die protecting America that just means the good guys are fighting back, right?

Without Terrorists there would be NO chance of Iraq blossoming into a Freedom Loving Demcracy if I understand George Bush's plan correctly.

I have noticed, Just today, that Libs are happy to paint American Servicemembers as heroes, ONLY AS LONG AS THEY HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANTLY INJURED. I would like to know why the injury suffered is more significant than the task being accomplished? The Woman who was on "hardball" tonight, was TRYING to describe WHY she was in harms way, by doing good things, organizing the government, assisting the local leaders, etc, that didn't matter, what mattered to Chris Matthews was that she lost an arm, while she was teaching thousands of people how to govern themselves.

The Lefty Libs are happy to paint pictures of Heroism, as long as the hero is dealing with an injury. Have they done the same thing for a SINGLE Iraqi?

Here is the Key to being a possitive exampe for America. Lie, and paint yourself as a "whistleblower" and then run for office, opposing all of the things you blew the whistle on.

In Basic? be as full of shit as possible. I didn't say "as humanly possible" because the shit these fucks are willing to splatter over the populace is something that no human could accomplish.

A friend of a friend of mine did that last April, except he's in his 20's and some sort of Anarchist computer geek. The weird thing was that he contacted ANOTHER friend of mine and stayed with her in Istanbul for a few days, posted photos on their respective livejournals. That was very odd.

Posted by: Moonbat_One on December 30, 2005 04:35 AM

At least he wasn't in any danger of running into journalists from the New York Times and the Washington Post while he was in Baghdad.

Posted by: jack on December 30, 2005 09:40 AM

They had a story on this on "Today" (Mrs. Zorachus watches it, ahem, not I).
I was waiting for the part where they quote from his essay about the good 'n' evil, but (are you sitting?) it never came.
They did mention some parts where he described the squalor some Iraqis are living in.

Posted by: Zorachus on December 30, 2005 10:32 AM

You gotta admire the kid's guts, but if he were mine I would kick his ass across the Atlantic back to Florida. I wouldn't let my 16 year old prowl around Atlanta alone, let alone Baghdad.

sigh. I havent been the same since I shot my neighbors eye out with a rubberband when i was a kid.

Jeez, I've watched so much 'Family Guy' lately that I expect to see a cutaway scene with a young Tomic and his neighbor.

Honestly, am I sad?

Posted by: Zorachus on December 30, 2005 11:36 AM

Oh, I would definitely snatch the child baldheaded. (And I did wander around Atlanta alone when I was 16, UGADawg.)

Let's see, he hangs out in a mosque in the US, nips off to the Middle East, tries to get through the closed border on Iraqi election day, wanders around Baghdad, and apparently then acts like a little jerk to the US Embassy staff (reading between the lines of the anonymous embassy-guy.)

How lucky is he that no one decided he was another John Walker Lindh? Enjoy your 17th birthday at Gitmo, kid!

Or is he trying to get his parents deported?

And here i thought most kids ran off to join the circus

December 30, at 2:17pm was me.

DO YOU THINK HIS PARENT WILL GROUND HIM FOR THIS STUPID STUNT WHATS WAS WITH THIS KID?

Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:

That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time.
I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"

Socialist usurper Obama cut commercials urging Virginians to vote for the bizarre "lobster" gerrymander -- but now says gerrymanders are so racist you guys
Obama is complaining about the new Louisiana map -- but here's the thing, the new map has much more compact and rational borders than the old racial gerrymander map
Pete Bootyjudge is whining too. But here's the Illinois gerrymander he supports.
Big Bonus! Under the new Florida congressional map, Debbie Wasserman Schultz will probably lose her seat
And she can't even go on The View because she's ugly a clump of stranger's hair in the bath-drain

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents.
Erika Kirk was present.
