Christmas At Arlington

One of the prettiest, saddest photos you'll see.

Thanks to Jake.

What? No aclu lawsuit? Beautiful photo, though.

One of the most sobering places I've ever been.

It is painfully beautiful.

Thanks Ace!

Fort Myer is in-between Arlington cemetery and my home. At eleven o'clock every night the bugle on the loudspeakers plays Taps. I'm also close enough to hear the rifle and cannon salutes during internments. It keeps things in proper perspective.

It occurred to me that physically, this is a cemetary. But spiritually this is the wall that separates good from evil. May God grant peace to the families of these fallen heros.

Like harrison, I once lived next to Arlington and walked by this hallowed ground. My walk to work took me by the cemetary every day. It never failed to move me. . .each day.

You have gone
we remain
forever grateful

Breathtaking. I've only been there once, and I'll never forget it.

Brewfan: Wonderfully said, thank you.

Hey Ace,

Thanks for posting my story - it really is important to pay our respects to those that have fallen. I found this photo on AF.mil and decided it needed to hit the blogosphere.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Posted by: LinkedInUSAF on December 22, 2005 05:52 PM

And a very Merry Christmas to you!

Posted by: on December 22, 2005 05:55 PM

...proper perspective...

Thanks for the reminder. We sit here, safe and sound, debating about such trivial matters; while those graves are filled with men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you, dear souls.

I've never been to Arlington. But I went to the cemetary at Normandy, in France, when I was a teenager. At the time, I was surprised at how much it effected me emotionally.

Posted by: SJKevin on December 22, 2005 06:36 PM

Couldn't have said it better Bart.

May God cause them to rest in peace and for them to receive their heavenly reward. May their memory be a blessing for us and all generations.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
