Specter May Broker Patriot Act Deal

Controversial provisions would be renewed more or less intact, but with Specter's word that they will be discussed later and possibly amended.

Seems like a decent compromise.

Specter is a Senator from my state. Despite the support of President Bush to get him re-elected, he has stabbed the President in the back repeatedly.

The radiation was not focused sufficiently to save any Rebuplican brain-cells he may have had functioning.

I seriously thought this post was a Phil Specter joke for a second.

Lemme get this straight;

The one person who is perhaps the biggest pain in the ass to Republicans, in today's Republican party, save John McCain, is now ready to come through? Forgive me; something about this doesn't smell very good.

I'll thank him IF he comes though. But, something doesn't quite mesh, here.... does not compute. (Waves Arms)

What about the provision that makes it a FEDERAL CRIME to sell someone Sudafed without a note from the doctor? Did that make it through?

Posted by: OregonMuse on December 21, 2005 05:26 PM

Yeah, when I hear the name Spector, my immediate thought is "backstabber."

Posted by: on December 21, 2005 05:46 PM

Spector's word?????

Posted by: tefta on December 21, 2005 05:55 PM

This is one of those compromises like when your wife wants to buy a couch and you want to buy a set of golf clubs and you compromise and buy a couch.

If it passes it will stay passed. No one who opposes the Patriot Act thinks otherwise, this is just a way for them to save face and claim they won something.

But come spring they're going to wish they'd at least held out for a putter.

Spector and the libs have jumped the shark on the security isssues facing the U.S. The libs screwed with the Patriot act and Spector and the libs jumped Bush for protecting us by intercepting messages to terrorists. Have there ever been a greater bunch of diletantes in the Senate? Now Spector is trying to air lift himself and his fellow leftwing travelers off the shark by passing the Patriot act "compromise". Riiiiight. Why don't they just admit they're a bunch of twinkies and let Bush handle the whole security issue as he sees fit?

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
