Summer Growth Revised Down To Merely Be Fastest Growth In A Year And A Half

Estimate of 4.3% annualized GDP growth revised to a still-feisty 4.1% rate.

And yet many Americans remain unemployed and discouraged from seeking new jobs:

Well, some folks are unproductive and don't deserve jobs.

Um, yeah Harrison - just like a friend of mine who was a cobol programmer, made the switch to database and became a DBA, went to national symposiums, took training, and worked WAY more than 40 hours a week. Got laid off in a company downsizing and after nearly a year, stopped looking for a new job. Intelligent, hard-working, loyal - as she was leaving the building she was telling her co-workers where she kept her work-to -date stuff and lines of inquiry to follow. Don't want to encourage people like that.

thwack!

Uh, Frank. I think harrison was refering to the photos, not your "friend" if we may refer to "her" as such.

Posted by: MOTO on December 21, 2005 10:56 AM

Frank,
MOTO's right, I was refering to the photos.

And many of the 4.3% are retired after many years of working, and not seeking employment. But, the census bureau classifies them as unemployed. I know because I was sent a recent packet.

Ms Sheehan should just go home celebrate christmas and stop this rediclous campaign

You got da linkage from Hugh Hewitt's site for this post, FYI. (M.K. Ham, not Hugh, so maybe he's still cheesed at you for the nasty Miers cracks.)

Go easy on Frank. He can't help it if his friend is too lazy to get a job.

Boy, the sun is shining, the day is a great day, and Ace is really rolling with the laughing gas today.

I haven't laughed so hard at work since someone crapped in the boss's cornflakes. And signed it.

And I say the furnishings featured in both pictures are still useful and deserve SOME respect. Don't know the mannequins, so I'll have to pass on them.

1. I was worried about being too heavy handed in the set-up comment, to what was obviously a joke entry. Looks like it passed muster, but between prepping a car for sale this weekend and a meeting this evening the timing got thrown off.
2. As to my friend - the rest of the story: while searching for a job she got to spend a lot of time with her grandkids and decided that was WAY better than work. After 35 years of work at a good salary and frugal living she decided to just retire and enjoy the kids full-time. Not a qualification for "loser". MCG - after seeing a lot of 'what goes around comes around" I hope you can handle a layoff with better grace than displayed here.
3. Ace, ff you ARE going to post pictures of mannequins, could we get Kim Cattrall instead :)

Posted by: Frank on December 21, 2005 11:07 PM

Ace, you should include a picture of the Maytag washer repairman with Cindy and Tom.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.

Oof. Reviewers do not like Scary Movie 6. The criticism I keep hearing is that the movie mistakes a reference for an actual joke. The movie (they say) keeps Key Jangling a reference to another movie (or some other pop culture ephemera) and you expect there to be a joke but nope, the Key Jangle was the joke. Other reviewers say that the promise that "no lines will be uncrossed" is a fake-out, and that the movie is bland and inoffensively corporate.
Whoops! I posted about Dan Goldman losing the NY congressional primary. He might do that, but it won't be tonight -- the primary isn't held until June 23.
