Wash State Dems: If You Can't Beat 'Em, Insult 'Em

DemsAntiChristian.jpg

That cute little logo was displayed on a Washington State Democrats on-line store. It's not the official Wash State Dem site, but a disclaimer at the end does announce "Paid For By Washington State Democratic Party."

Delta Mike Charlie preserved the original page in case they deleted the offensive little doodle... Which, of course, is exactly what they did.

Thanks to Tom McMahon, who uses his four-block matrix method to discern the secret connections between Jimmy Carter and Tookie Williams.

The Democrats really are all about class these days, aren't they?

I got into a pretty vociferous argument awhile back with someone who asked me why, given that I was an atheist, I did not absolutely hate "the fundies who run the government". I asked him what he meant by "fundy" (which usually refers to Charismatic/Evangelical absolutists Christian sects), and he ended up lumping pretty much all Christians into that boat -- even Methodists and Anglicans, who generally are pretty socially liberal. I find this is true of many on the secular left: they know almost nothing about the Christian faith (or the Muslim or Hindu faiths, for that matter), and yet feel absolutely empowered to make theological judgements and pronouncements.

I always want to sit these religion-hostile lefties down and explain some home truths to them. One, Americans are vastly, overwhelmingly religious (the numbers are probably between seventy and eighty percent, and that estimate is probably too low). Two, most of the religious people in America are Christians of some persuasion. Three, religious people of whatever political stripe are more socially conservative than their secular counterparts. If the Democratic party keeps offending rank-and-file Christians, it is going to guarantee a loss in every major national election from now till everlasting.

Don't bother explaining how reasonable your secular viewpoint is; that's not the point. Religious faith is not reasonable. You cannot reason someone out of something they were never reasoned into. And insulting them only guarantees you a battle you absolutely cannot win. The demographics will crush you every time.

These dirt worshippers are oh-so-superior.

Even if I didn't believe in God, there is no way on earth I would support leftist viewpoints. Talk about faith, the belief in welfare statism or other anti-market activities.

Its like someone put on that bumpersticker, its 99% of liberals that give the other 1% a bad name.

The demas are getting weirder everyday i mean they are the same libberal fools that have those same fish signs only with those dumb little legs on them

Posted by: spurwing plover on December 13, 2005 02:56 PM

Let me tell you, the Dems in Washington State have NO room to talk after the debacle with Gregoire.

I guess I'd love to just say, better a hypocrite than a thief and a liar.

But it doesn't fit into a fish.

Posted by: DeeDaGo on December 13, 2005 03:04 PM

You gotta love them tolerant libs.

Posted by: Iblis on December 13, 2005 03:06 PM

Has anyone noticed how many posts to this on DeltaMikeCharlie's site by Democrats seek either to deny that this could be offensive or bigoted (or that Christians have the right to be offended!), or seek to evade any kind of responsibility on behalf of their party?

And how almost NONE of the Democrats who posted here have said that they feel that their party should have had nothing to do with this kind of bigotry?

Kinda answers the issue of "Christian Democrats" doesn't it?
Obviously, they're Democrats first, foremost, and mostly; and Christian only when it doesn't interfere with their political affiliation.

Posted by: DaveP. on December 13, 2005 05:23 PM

In reaction to fish stickers on Coptic Christian cars, Muslims in Egypt started putting Shark-eating-fish stickers on their cars. Wonder how long before the Dems catch on.

Posted by: Iblis on December 13, 2005 06:10 PM

Amazing to watch the leftist commenters over there try to justify this. Here's a sample:

If someone condemns hypocrisy among Christians, why should sincere Christians take offense?

No one is stopping you people from worshipping your various gods, especially not with a bumper sticker. Maybe if you spent more time and energy paying more attention to what Jesus Christ actually said and did, you wouldn't have any left to complain about others' free speech.

uh... I thought the point was that a lot of people who stick a Jesus fish on their car aren't very good Christians. Not that all Christians are evil or some crap. What orifice did you pull that interpretation from?

Yeahhhhhhhhh..... Just imagine the response from these liars if the Republican Party sold bumper stickers with the word "Terrorist" emblazoned across the Islamic Crescent.

I mean, hey, they're only pointing out that some Muslims are terrorists, right? Why are the peaceful ones, then, getting so offended?

The last thing to go through Tookie's mind.."Did I turn the stove off?"

Posted by: Mr Peanut on December 14, 2005 05:08 AM

I'm what you would call a "Fundy Christian". I also have a fish sticker on my car....my lovely 11 year old daughter put it on. The dems bumper sticker with the word hypocrit on it is very accurate of all Christians. Most Christians consider themselves hypocrits.....I know I do. Christians really don't consider themselves perfect....we are considered perfect by God because of Christ shed blood. Again it was a gift that I and many others have accepted. One that will never be taken away.....but you guys already know that. The bumper sticker is accurate, the flames are not. Does it offend me? No. I find it to be just ignorance. Christians are not perfect....just forgiven.

Posted by: Joe on December 14, 2005 11:14 AM

Ditto, Joe.
And we know that Christians will face blatant persecution for nothing except for the fact that they are Christians.

How de wo know? Jesus told us.

So, fu-, I mean, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 14, 2005 11:41 AM

The fish symbol was used to indicate where early Christians would gather in secret because the were hunted by the Romans and the Jews.

It represents being persecuted for their faith and now it is used by their enemies to persecute them.

Posted by: Speller on December 14, 2005 12:08 PM

Speller: Early Christians were hunted by the Jews?

Sure you should be taking history lessons form those guys in the white peaky hats and bedsheets?

Posted by: DaveP. on December 15, 2005 09:34 AM

Dave, are you sure you should be displaying your historical ignorance in a public forum?

The Jewish leaders of the time considered Christianity a threat to their power, so they persecuted the church. It was political.

All this hoo-rah about the bumper stickers is just like so many other tools of the true evil: distractions from what is REALLY important in this world and in life. If we can be distracted by such trivialities, that means that we will be less effective as Christ's messengers.

It is so fascinating to read the bullshit here. Yeah...gays, liberals, and democrats are destroying YOUR version of America. I'm going to take the finest satisfaction in 2008 when Hillary gives you people the biggest slap in the the face you've ever received. Goodbye and revel in your hatred.

Posted by: Robert Johnson on December 16, 2005 12:46 AM

Goodbye and revel in your hatred.

At the risk of noting the obvious, what the hell has this guy been reading?

Of all the threads he could have called hateful, I don't even get that vibe from any of the posts, except perhaps mine, and that's because I can be a dick.

If you wanted hateful, he could have moved on to the Juan Cole threads, or the Sesame Street threads.

Idiot.

Timmy, that's because he missed you. I told him that you weren't with another woman, but he didn't seem to believe me.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
