Keith (Who?) Olbermann's Big Book of Lies, Uncorrected Mistakes, and Rumor-Peddling

How is this jackass still on the air?

Oh right, he's on MSNBC.

(beat; looks to sidebar)

MSNBC, The Greatest Newschannel in the World!!!

And O'Reily is blameless? Come on. O'Reilly snipes just as much as Keith. Keith may have been wrong, but how about equal time for the O'Reily lies.

Posted by: Jim Terry on December 12, 2005 10:23 PM

You're spin-ning.

Posted by: ace on December 12, 2005 10:30 PM

Ace, you're going all soft.

And squishy.

The way that MSNBC's lineup is soft and squishy.

Posted by: DeeDaGo on December 12, 2005 10:32 PM

A Keith Olbermann defender?

Wow. There's only about six people in the US who watch his show, so this is like seeing an endangered species in the wild.

Posted by: Slublog on December 12, 2005 10:37 PM

...but how about equal time for the O'Reily lies.

How about, you know...actual examples. Perhaps you can provide some concrete examples for those of us who don't watch O'Reily. It is far too easy to make groundless accusations.

Posted by: TheShadow on December 12, 2005 10:51 PM

I think most of us can agree that O'Reilly and Olbermann are both douche bags. The only difference is O'Reilly is a switch hitter, while Olbermann always bats lefty.

Ace,

Just so you know, I'm not terribly comfortable viewing your site at work since you've started including nude women.

Seriously.

I try to read it at night now, but you've lost me during the workday.

Ad whore.

Posted by: Sean on December 12, 2005 11:04 PM

Sell out!

Posted by: yls on December 12, 2005 11:08 PM

Sean,

Are you serious? That ad was enough to put you off?

Well, it probably won't happen again. MSNBC is the only company to ever try this, and I only accepted because it's going to be a brief run. The lineup of shows they're advertising is on Wednesday.

I really didn't have much time to think about it because BlogAds wanted the ad accepted or denied pronto, as it was a late purchase of ads for a time-sensitive event.

I'll watch the ads more.

Is Dusty still okay?

Posted by: ace on December 12, 2005 11:26 PM

Nude women?
Where?
Seriously Ace, is there like a members only section I don't know about?
Sean can't be talking about the silly artsy outline drawings in the sidebar ad. I mean, you can see worse stuff on tractor-trailer mud flaps.
Unless you work at a church or a grade school, I can't really see the harm.

Posted by: rickinstl on December 13, 2005 12:04 AM

I can't believe I read that entire article. I mean, what the fuck is wrong with me. I even scrolled all the way down to see how long it was, then went back and finished from where I left off. I can actually feel myself becoming dumber and less worthwhile as a human being.

I watch O'Reilly. It's populist tripe but harmlessly entertaining. But I truly don't give a shit what these two idiots think about each other. A reality version of celebrity death match, maybe. Otherwise, God help me. I read the whole thing.

Posted by: Biff Boff on December 13, 2005 12:08 AM

ACE: Why are you complaining about Olbermann's Lies? Would you deny Babe Ruth his bat? Tiger Woods his golf clubs? Marilyn Monroe her tits? Heaven forbid!!! Olbermann's living is based on being a world class liar. You ought to be in awe this unusually gifted liar. Not just anyone can make stuff up, misquote, quote out of context, and mislead--day after day after day. Once in a while, maybe. But for pure consistancy, Olbermann's your man.

Posted by: Pendleton on December 13, 2005 12:15 AM

And O'Reily is blameless? Come on. O'Reilly snipes just as much as Keith. Keith may have been wrong, but how about equal time for the O'Reily lies.

Yeah, ace, get on those O'Reilly lies RIGHT NOW.

I smell a hot new slogan. Keith Olbermann, only a little worse than Bill O'Reilly and by extension still more irrelevant than Al Franken!!

Posted by: Sortelli on December 13, 2005 01:44 AM

How about:

Keith Olbermann: The result of Al Franken drinking non-soy milk.

Posted by: DeeDaGo on December 13, 2005 01:56 AM

Ace,

Seriously, delete that if it's going to cause you to lose something from your advertisers. I'll be none the poorer.

J

Trust me, I have no love for Olbermann. Never liked him on ESPN.
But I agree with the posts above that the raison d'etre for both is to entertain and not be taken too seriously. The world would be a better place with out the likes of O'Reily, Olbermann and their ilk.

Posted by: Jim Terry on December 13, 2005 09:15 AM

...But I agree with the posts above that the raison d'etre for both is to entertain and not be taken too seriously...

Jesus, tell Olbie and O'Reilly that.

The difference between the two -- as far as I can see -- is that O'Reilly at least sometimes has a view of reality, at least until his ego swells his eyes shut.

Olbie's only grasp on reality is on the rare instances when satellite signals hit his tinfoil hat just right.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
