« The Talented Mr. Williams | Main | Schwarzenegger asks Casey Kasem for a long distance dedication! »
December 12, 2005

Tookie: You're Terminated

And you von't be back.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger refused to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution early Tuesday.... Williams, 51, is set to die by injection at San Quentin State Prison after midnight for murdering four people in two 1979 holdups.

...

Prosecutors and victims' advocates contended Williams was undeserving of clemency from the governor because he did not own up to his crimes and refused to inform on fellow gang members. They also argued that the Crips gang that Williams co-founded in Los Angeles in 1971 is responsible for hundreds of deaths, many of them in battles with the rival Bloods for turf and control of the drug trade.

But, but, but, but... He wrote a children's book!

We don't punish famous, charismatic people in this country according to their crimes! What, did I wake up this morning in Nazi Germany!

The next thing you know, they'll be saying Robert Downey Jr. has to give up smack.

I don't know what's happened to my country.

Celebrities don't get punished. They're better than us. That's why they're celebrities.

Let's be honest, you only appreciate a good gangbang...ahem...artist when they're dead.

Posted by: Iblis on December 12, 2005 05:12 PM

My Favourite part :

"Among the celebrities who took up Williams' cause were Jamie Foxx, who played the gang leader in a cable movie about Williams; rapper Snoop Dogg, himself a former Crip; Sister Helen Prejean, the nun depicted in "Dead Man Walking"; Bianca Jagger; and former "M A S H" star Mike Farrell. During Williams' 24 years on death row...."

24 years on death row and these asshats turn up just days before his execution. They've had 24 years to make their case and only now, once the spotlight is on them and they get their 15 minute chances to show their humanitarian side, do they give a crap.

I swear these dickheads like to portray themselves as overwhelmed everyday heros, racing against the clock, trying to save a man from an unjust death. Dudes, you've had 24 years, you just didn't give a crap then because you couldn't score mad liberal karma points.

Snoop is a self-proclaimed CURRENT crip.

Posted by: Biff Boff on December 12, 2005 05:18 PM

Right. And suddenly Williams' lawyers are coming up with witnesses to Tookie's alleged crimes.

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 12, 2005 05:21 PM

Hmm. I could see a series of children's books written by Mr. Ace O'Spades. Just think about it. You could be the new Madona!

Tookie caused much pain
Justice for victims
Now Hollywood weeps

The writer is confused; these are "celebrity" finalists for next year's installment of Dancing with the Stars.

I fucked up

Tookie caused much pain
Justice for victims at last
Now Hollywood weeps

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 12, 2005 05:48 PM

As a show of solidarity, I recommend these Hollywood stars each adopt a Crips member of their own. The gangbangers could stay with them in their homes and maybe watch their kids for 'em on Oscar night.

If anyone should get killed or something, I'm sure it'll all be set straight by the killer writing a nice children's book in prison. Children's books always make up for blowing off a child's face with a shotgun. It's a true fact!

Posted by: The Warden on December 12, 2005 05:50 PM

I've long had very mixed feelings about the death penalty, but it sickens me to see the circle jerk surrounding this asshole. He isn't Mother Theresa, for crying out loud.

Days like today I'm in the pro-death penalty camp.

Posted by: ratan on December 12, 2005 05:51 PM

Now that I think about this, it might be fun to walk up to Jamie Foxx and punch him right in the teeth.

When he objects, I'll just shrug and say, "It's cool, bro. I'm planning on writing a children's book about how it's wrong to punch Hollywood fucks like you in the teeth. And by the way, I never punched you in the teeth. Someone else did."

Posted by: The Warden on December 12, 2005 05:53 PM

Where were all these Hollywood types when I needed them!

Point of Etiquette Question:

How long should I wait before I list my Tookie-Autographed first edition copy of his children's book on eBay?

Five minutes?

An hour?

What would be a respectful amount of time?

Posted by: BumperStickerist on December 12, 2005 06:22 PM

Last week NPR interviewed some guy that wrote a book about Crips history. He said that Tookie wasn't really a founder, he joined a couple years after the gang formed. The founder bit is just some more of his dishonesty.

Oddly enough, NPR didn't ask him his opinion on carrying out the death penalty. Or maybe they did ask him, but didn't feel like broadcasting the answer. Who knows?

Posted by: digitalbrownshirt on December 12, 2005 06:30 PM

Yeah, that's a good point, previous poster. Where were all these celebrity dingbats when Karla Faye Tucker was about to go out on a blind date with Ol' Sparky down there in Texas? I believe and could argue that Tucker's redemption was real, unfeigned, and she genuinely regretted kiling those people with a pick axe for their drugs. I think she was a mluch better candidate for clemency than Tookie. But alas, she was not a minority, she wasn't a gang member, she did not write cutesy children's books, and worst of all, her redemption consisted of her conversion to Christianity while in prison. How gauche.

For the record, I think Tucker, like Williams, needed to die for her crimes and Newt Gingrich and Pat Robertson made hypocritical fools of themselves trying to get her sentence commuted.

Posted by: OregonMuse on December 12, 2005 06:43 PM

I heard the mother of one of the victims on the radio this morning. She said tookie held a gun to the back of her son's head as he lay on the floor begging for his life - to no avail. I don't cheer on the death of anyone (much), but it's kind of appropriate that tookie begs also - and also gets a no.

Can I say I hope there's a riot and lots of these shitheads get gunned down without being accused of being a *good lord (choke)* RACIST?

I'm against the death penalty. I have many reasons for holding that opinion. Sympathy for people like Tookie isn't one of them.

This is extraordinarily, egregiously OT, but too funny not to post (and yes, this is probably pretty classless, given the topic of Mr. Williams' upcoming Big Event, but I consider this Justice Served, hence an occasion for merriment):

The World Of Warcraft rendition of "Gay Bar" by some band called Pretty Pink Ponies. A stellar example of how online gaming warps and twists these crazy kids' minds. And yet...somehow utterly fucking hilarious.

Posted by: Monty on December 12, 2005 07:32 PM

The Hollywood/Media elite glorifies one particular brand of killer.

Tookie, Mumia, and Jack Henry Abbott enjoyed their murders. In each case, helpless victims were slaughtered for the emotional satisfaction of the killer.

They enjoy murder and relive it with pleasure. They feel godlike when taking the lives of ordinary people. It vindicates their grandiose conviction that, rather than being pathetic losers, they are in fact superior to the world of victims.

Naturally Marxism holds great appeal for them. Only the Marxist understands the mechanism of history. Masses are victimized by forces beyond their control, but the avant-garde has been liberated. They are superior to the masses.

That's why the limousine left finds such empathy for civilization's most depraved killers. Their internal convictions are the same. Their emotional satisfactions are the same. Their pathetic pathologies are the same.

Not having read his crappy books, I was unaware of the dedications. It seems like he mentioned all the big radical murderers, including George Jackson who was the instigator of some of the worse prison violence in California history.

Posted by: Insider on December 12, 2005 09:30 PM

Fuck Mike Farrel.
No wonder his name was 'BJ' on MASH...

That pig just got done saying that the hours that it took Arnold to arrive at his decision constitute torture...
I'm sure that if Arnold had granted clemency, the same hours would've been regarded as 'thoughtful' and 'full of wisdom', after 'much soul-searching' or some other 'nuanced' bullshit.

Why do I get the impression that Rita Cosby would love to get banged by a big black man in prison?

Is this woman's sick fantasies so obvious, or what?

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 13, 2005 01:22 AM

Stanley Tookie Williams is dead. Justice has been served. I pray that the families of his victims will finally have closure and be at peace.

You've got to love all the losers -- from both sides -- who show up outside the prisons for these executions. It's like a main part of their social lives involve being a part of a crowd, be it at executions, protest rallies, or the debut of a major film. Losers.

I'm watching TV right now and I see an idiot in the background, a black guy, wearing a "tookie" shirt and blabbing on his wireless. There's another asshole singing, and another a-hole beating a drum.

Where are all these people when an innocent is murdered by the likes of Tookie for nothing but money and fun?

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 13, 2005 03:45 AM

I hope Williams was scared. I hope he felt the same fear as his victims when they were about to die.

Posted by: Timmy in the Well on December 13, 2005 04:14 AM

Very few people show up from the pro dp side. The few that did were physically assaulted by the assholes while the cops stood by. Why shouldn't people show up to support the victim's families?

Posted by: on December 13, 2005 04:45 AM

Spurwing,

Tookie's meeting with Saint Peter will be very, very brief. In fact it will only last long enough for Tookie to hear "entry denied".

AND THESE SAME HOLLYWOOD FOLS WANT GUN CONTROL

Posted by: spurwing plover on December 13, 2005 09:25 AM

Stan Williams had many more victims than just the four people he shot, unfortunately. He is indirectly responsible for more blacks being killed than any white supremacist group. I'm just glad that justice was finally done, no matter who the "official" victims were.

Posted by: Sue Dohnim on December 13, 2005 09:42 AM

All of the Rev. Jacksons and Sharptons are talking about all the good he did through his children's books, right? Prior to his execution, of all of his "books" he had sold a grand total of around 400 copies combined!

Posted by: Johnnywaka on December 13, 2005 12:30 PM
