National Enquirer: Michael Jackson In Critical Condition After Drugs, Booze OD
UPDATE: MJ's PR Person Denies

I guess his friends were right to worry.

Michael Jackson has suffered an overdose from drugs and alcohol and is said to be in a critical condition in Bahrain.

...

Now The National Enquirer has learned exclusively that Santa Barbara police were told by family insiders that Jackson "recently OD'd on Demerol and Jack Daniels" in Bahrain.

Update: Denied by Jacko's flackos.

Hmmmm... On one hand, the National Enquirer. On the other hand, Michael Jackson's PR flacks.

That's what you call a Hobson's Choice.

Thanks to Steve for the update.

You can get Jack Daniels in Bahrain? I thought they had a whole "no alcohol" thing over there.

Posted by: Phinn on December 9, 2005 05:22 PM

They probably said he had "The OC on the brain" and it got all confused in translation.

Posted by: DeeDaGo on December 9, 2005 05:23 PM

Let me guess: He'll pull through. I often wondered if he had been convicted whether he would have offed himself. He's too much of a wimp.

Posted by: on December 9, 2005 05:26 PM

Demerol and Jack Daniels known as Extra Strength Jesus Juice.

Posted by: polynikes on December 9, 2005 05:27 PM

I'd ask how one goes about getting drugs and booze in a a country that cuts off your hands for doing such things but I guess the answer is, the same way one can have sex will boys in a country with "laws" against such.

Posted by: Biff Boff on December 9, 2005 05:34 PM

That Demerol's sweet stuff. I was on it for a few days after surgery a couple years ago, and I actually looked forward to the needle.

I don't wish Michael enough ill to dance on his grave or anything, but I'll take this story a little more seriously when I read it in a source other than the Enquirer.

Posted by: utron on December 9, 2005 05:39 PM

I was really anti-drug as a teenager, and I kept refusing demerol after a shoulder surgery. Then I let them give it to me, just to alleviate the discomfort.

I didn't refuse it after that.

Posted by: ace on December 9, 2005 05:41 PM

His PR hack just denied it, http://msnbc.msn.com/id/10401375/ so it must be true.

Posted by: Steve on December 9, 2005 05:45 PM

I don't wish Michael enough ill to dance on his grave or anything

If this story pans out the way I hope it does, Utron, I'll be happy to do it for you.

I should be so lucky. One man's "rock bottom" is another man's "dream vacation"...

Posted by: Tom on December 9, 2005 05:51 PM

You know, the Dems outta run this guy in '08. I mean, you can't touch this fucker. Booze and Drugs in a Theocracy, walk on a molestation charge that everyone on the Planet knows you're guilty of...he's un-fucking-touchable. He makes Bill Clinton look like Joey Buttafucco.

Posted by: Biff Boff on December 9, 2005 05:55 PM

When you get your first shot of demerol (or any of the higher-potency opiates/synthetic opiates), you will understand why heroin addicts are heroin addicts.
Having said that, Michael is an amateur.
He should try Valurite Vodka and Klonopin, like a pro.
A pro Viking.
(No, not the football type. They are also amateurs. Getting caught doing live sex parties in public. Friggin' rookies...)

That's what you call a Hobson's Choice.

Nicely played, sir. Didn't Kipling once use the phrase "Hobson's choice"?

Posted by: utron on December 9, 2005 06:01 PM

Not to endorse heroin or anything, but yes, when you get injected with demerol, suddenly the attraction of smack becomes less unfathomable.

Posted by: ace on December 9, 2005 06:02 PM

Or even that hillbilly heroin... oxycontin. Sweet sweet blissful warmth. I had some really horrible surgery about four years ago. I never before heard of the stuff, but I felt those crushingly beautiful pangs of falling in love everytime I had a dose. I was on it for 3 weeks...had to throw it away because of the jones it caused.

I was really anti-drug as a teenager

Not to worry. I picked up the slack.

Posted by: JackStraw on December 9, 2005 07:01 PM

BiffBoff,

LOL.

You too, are on fire.

Really.

Posted by: MeTooThen on December 9, 2005 07:26 PM

All,

Funny thing, this.

D.o.C.

Drug of Choice.

It's near impossible who will respond to what drug, but one thing's for sure, some drugs speak to some people.

For some it's vicodin, others demerol, others still oxycontin.

And the interesting thing is that for the user, he/she will typically have little interest in using anything else.

It's true.

...

So Jacko has been alleged to be on demerol and Jack?

Not the "cocktail" I would have guessed for the King of Pop.

It raises the question as to by what route he might have taken the meperidine (demerol)?

Most often it is given by intramuscular injection (IM). Did Jacko shoot himself?

Ouch.

He's not that manly.

I guess he had a compound chemist prepare meperidine suppositories.

That sounds more like it.

Chased with appletinis.

Posted by: MeTooThen on December 9, 2005 07:35 PM

I'm still trying to figure out on what planet the Santa Barbara police would be one of the first calls from a Jackson family "insider", whatever the hell that is.

Jackson's a douche, of course, and if he doesn't off his own self, his proclivities could get the Bahrainis to do so on his behalf.

According to his spokesperson:

“The Green light that people have thought they have had to willfully impugn Michael Jackson's character and integrity has now become Red.”
Maybe, but it still looks pretty green to me.

re: You can get Jack Daniels in Bahrain? I thought they had a whole "no alcohol" thing over there.

Alcohol is served at the better hotels there and sold openly in some places. I stayed at Le Meredien Hotel in Manama and they even had a Trader Vic's. The alcohol issue varies from country to country.

The happiest day of my life was the day I had my wisdom teeth removed. The gave me a steady Valium/Demerol IV drip. Sweet Jesus, it was just a beautiful, beautiful thing to be alive. I wanted to go back next day and have another tooth out. And another. And another. And eventually I suppose they could have my toes. And then my fingers. And then...you know...I was going to cross that crick when I came to it.

I was born to be a junkie. <Sigh>. How come none of my ambitions ever bear fruit?

Posted by: S. Weasel on December 10, 2005 08:56 AM

Hope he gets real sick and admits to being such a evil rotten person

Posted by: spurwing plover on December 10, 2005 10:10 AM

I got demerol once. Worst experience of my life. Burning feeling, nasty hallucinations, etc.

Now I get an armband that says "no demerol" and some weak-ass morphine, which wears off twice as fast in me as in other people.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
