I stopped reading Andrew soon ofter he went to pieces over the gay marriage thing - it was like he blamed conservatism itself for denying him permission to marry his boyfriend and has been in full "scorned" mode ever since. Show him a conservative position on anything and he'll churn out a blast of molten liberal brimstone that would make KOS blush. Sad.

Poor Sully. It's worse than him simply changing position; he's lost the ability to write anything interesting. I actually agreed with him on the gay-marriage thing (at least, the basic issue) but he just got shrill and dull. I'm receptive to anti-torture arguments, but not when those arguments are pitched in frequencies above the range of human hearing.

You know, Ace, earlier today I was going to point this out in a comment, but I didn't want to hijack a thread. Sullivan: All torture, all the time.

I hesitate to do any psychological takes on the matter, but it is getting a bit weird.

There are actually quite a few issues on which I agree with Andrew Sullivan, yet I cannot stand what his writing has become.

For example, I oppose torture, but I think it's grossly irresponsible to blur distinctions between America and Saddam's regime. (That's just enemy propaganda, honestly.) I'm in favor of legalizing gay marriage to see how it plays out, but I can't hyperventilate that everyone who disagrees with me is a Nazi.

Andrew Sullivan has become about as intellectually honest as some of the leftist trollers here.

I keep having dreams I am torturing Sullivan. The scary part is not that he is enjoying it, but that I am.
