Best. Blog-Post. Ever.

A poll over at Poliburo Diktat.

Yes, I'm nominated (thank you!) for Whoreblogging, but I'm being creamed by Allah's favorite, DW vs. A Bunch of Four-Year-Olds, and of course what is, without any question, the single greatest, most important blog-post ever -- LGF's superimposition of his own retyping of the Burkett forgery in Microsoft Word over the faxed copy from CBS' website. It's really a no-brainer -- there's your winner, and it was never even close.

Still, it's an honor to be nominated and all that. I'd like to thank my agent, Morty "Stig" Fishbein, for suggesting that the Whoreblogging vehicle would be the perfect venue for my, errr, talents, and for showing me what a "Nasty Adolf" was.

There are a dozen or so worthies on the list, all worth reading, if you missed them the first time. (And all linked, of course.)

And by "showing," you really mean "performing it on you". . . right?

You're not being creamed by DW. You're five votes behind. And I suspect that'll change pretty quickly.

You're right about the LGF post, though. A deserving winner.

You got my vote. Jeez, I feel used.

"Whoreblogging" is what keeps me coming back. I'm hoping you'll do another funny post like that one of these days.

Ace didn't invent the nasty adolph? I've lost my innocence!

Posted by: on November 22, 2005 04:05 PM

Dare I ask what a Nasty Adolf is? It isn't anything like a Dirty Sanchez, is it?

Posted by: Mark_D on November 22, 2005 04:08 PM

Not bad, Ace. You are only second to the blog post that possibly changed history.

P.S. Whatever happened to Allah? I know he still lurks around this blog, and comments once in a while. But why did he stop blogging?

Posted by: on November 22, 2005 06:22 PM

Mark, you know how people will hold their index finger horizontally on their upper lip to simulate Hitler's moustache? Now, do it with Ace's penis and you have a nasty Adolph. :)

Whoreblogging sold me on this place. I still go back to it now and then just for a fresh laugh. (Yes, my attention span really is that short.)

You're solidly in the #2 slot, Ace, and you really deserve it.

Iowahawk and Lileks really ought to be in the running, though. Whassupwidat?

Posted by: VRWC Agent on November 22, 2005 06:52 PM

Who nominated that post? THIS GUY. You're welcome. And hell, I wasn't even reading you at the time. It got linked by somebody I was. Don't remember who.

Posted by: The Unabrewer on November 23, 2005 04:39 AM

Whoreblogging is still my favorite blog post ever. Sure, LGF's one will probably make a small footnote in history, but did it talk about having sex with old asian women? Groping underage Latino kids? Of course not! And that my friends, is gold.

Or at least one. She carried it everywhere for protection.

1977 interview shows that Barbara Walters has always been a seaward and Dolly Parton always had "country class"
Walters actually asks Dolly Parton if she knows that people think she's a joke. This because Walters can't get over the fact that a show-woman has 1, big breasts, and 2, dresses a bit outrageously because, get this, she's an entertainer. A stage performer. You know, someone people pay money to see live and expect them to put on a show.
She never would attack Liberace for wearing glitter-tuxedos. But she's mad that Dolly Parton makes Barbara Walters look bad through association (by being a woman). Babs, you wish people associated the two of you. Believe me, we can tell the difference.

Months ago, I reported that the final Zodiac cypher had been cracked and the name of the killer revealed. And the name of the killer turned out to be someone suspected in the unsolved Black Dahlia murder. The general tone of my mention of this was "serious you guys, this is real."
Well, it's not real. It's total bullshit.
Sorry about that. I did two things: 1, I bought into something, a conspiracy theory really, because it was new and exciting. And 2, I allowed a self-declared "expert" to snow me over with his "expert" claims about solving ciphers, an alleged expertise I could not challenge because I know practically nothing about codebreaking. I remember being similarly swindled by self-declared "experts" babbling about "chromatic aberrations." (Although I didn't really buy into that, but I found it "interesting" and I wasn't strongly skeptical about it. Hey they said they're "experts," they must know that they're talking about, right?)
I screwed up. It won't be the last time, I'm sure.
