You can find this anywhere, like the Hindu neighborhood in Singapore is a tourist attraction, or Cuban areas of Miami and Tampa, or The Hill in St. Louis (Italian). Ethnicity by itself is not a bad thing. On the contrary, I think it enriches our lives.

One of the best places I have ever lived was San Antonio. Whites are a minority -- it's basically a Mexican city. I loved it. There's nothing in my cultural background that equates to the Day of the Dead. And I developed a keen appreciation for Texas barbecue and tortilla soup.

The fundamental difference, Michael, is that today unassimilated Muslims believe killing is an entirely acceptable way to deal with unpleasant acts such as blasphemy (which includes insulting Islam), apostasy, or violating a family's honor. If an Italian man and an Italian woman shacked up without their parents' permission, would they send the Mafia to take them out? Would the Irish appeal to the IRA to blow up an eloped couple? No, and no. The difference is that some Muslims would see nothing wrong in taking away someone's life for such "crimes".

Furthermore, it is possible and easy for Italians, Irish, and even Greeks to consciously and willfully assimilate into American society, if they so choose. On the other hand, in some Muslim circles those who assimilate are considered to be traitors to the religion/culture/clan.

And I will say unequivocally that "honor killings" and other extrajudicial executions are absolutely and completely barbaric, unacceptable, wrong, and vile. If such executions are mandated/tolerated by cultural norms, those norms are likewise barbaric, unacceptable, wrong, and vile.

We should not give in to the dictatorship of relativism: for certain issues we must strongly affirm and proclaim a definite and absolute right/good and wrong/evil. In this case, honor killings are wrong and evil. In tolerating them, some Muslim communities are perpetuating evil and, if they desire to live amongst us in the West, must reform accordingly. Needless to say, they acceptance of such wrong and evil is in itself wrong and evil.

For the record, my family is of Muslim and Asian background. We have assimilated, though many in this category have not.

Well, it's also true of various groups of Orthodox Jews in America that those who assimilate are "traitors to the clan." A little east of where I live is the largest Amish community on earth in Holmes County, Ohio. They consider assimilation to be traitorous as well. But folks like me go to Holmes County for some really great food at those Amish restaurants. It's a beautiful area, and the Amish community is vibrant and growing. Great place to take a day trip with Mrs. Michael on the motorcycle.

Of course, the Amish are not into beheading infidels. But neither are 99.999% of the Muslims immigrating to the U.K., which is where this exchange started.

The reason why the left isn't in outrage over any muslim atrocities is that Islam is at war with America and its Christian heritage.
